there are 3 horses that spring to mind, one of them was brilliant, Dessy!!!
The other 2 were not quite so brilliant, but had alot of courage in my opinion, Red Marauder winning in the mud, and Rooster Booster, who consistantly ran his heart out in races not run to suit year after year. Particularly game efforts come to mind in the tote gold trophey and in the xmas hurdle where he attempted to make all at a blistering gallop. Never before have i been in a grandstand where EVERYONE was willing a horse to keep going quite so much!!!

The reason he won all 3 awards was because he simply recorded the highest rating at those distances last season, and therefore fully deserves all 3 awards. What other way do people suggest the awards are awarded?
A vote? biggest winning distance! best jumper!
The awards also highlight to me what a poor champion hurdle it was this year!

Fair Along is a lovely little horse, good over hurdles, fences and on the flat, not many are!
Looks like we may have to wait a while to see him out again though, but i think thats a good thing as he goes even better fresh and hobbs will be keen to win the ceserawitch for a second time running. If Richard Johnson gets his act together he could also win a QM in my opinion!

I liked Fair Along for this race as i thought he will suit the track. Bit concerned about his draw, but if he can get to the front he must have a good chance

i will be very suprised if he doesnt chris. the only concern for me is its fairly quick after aintree and some horses havent run very well coming to punchestown after aintree this season. I dont think brave inca will travel or stay well enough to trouble him

davidbrady i am quite aware that horses can break down at home, but this can be due to running in a race when not fully fit.
Im my opinion horses should be trained for there next race, the next one is a bonus

i think your right clivex. some trainers seem to run horses ‘half’ fit, leaving enough to work on for the ‘big day’, and i think this has alot to do with there injuries as they are not fully prepared to take the run.

At the races web site. Not as good a site for the write up etc of a race, but is much more on the ball news wise!

I have to agree with Friggo, Lacdoudal seems to love sandown, loves fast ground, and has slipped down the weights this season back to a similar mark to which he won it last year. He also looked like he was coming back to form in his last run at aintree

Ok, fair enough, if he wins, well spotted, but he wont be carrying any of my money.
Just another thought i had, if he were to win the betfred, he could almost certainly kiss good bye to any chance of winning the national because his handicap mark would probably rocket. I would imagine he will be extremely lightly

Ok, were all entitled to an opinion, but if an out and out stayer curls up after the last, its not an out and out stayer imo.
