The more i read on the subject the less likely it seems Denman will return to the same form.

After the gold cup last year a friend of mine said Denman will never come back the same horse after the gold cup because of how tired he was at the end of the race, i hope he was wrong!!

If i were clive smith i would run kauto in the hennessey, he will be fitter than denman, and recieve a few pounds from him. What an early season high light that would be! Which one would be favourite!?!

well done monkerhostin, about time he won another big prize! a rendlesham hurdle, coral cup, bonus print gold cup, holden gold cup, and now abet365 gold cup! there might just be another in him!!!

neptune needs to win with something in hand tommorrow imo if the form of the gold cup is to be taken seriously. At the time everyone seemed to think denman had run to a high mark, and kauto had run close to his best, with neptune running a massive best. But since then non of the placed horses have won or even run close to thier best (halcon ran ok i suppose).

i really hope fair along wins! he deserves ‘a big one’. 2nd in a triumph hurdle, 2nd in an arkle, 3rd in the queen mum, 2nd in the chester cup, 3rd in the ces. first time binkers might help too!

everyone has carried the pre race hype through to after the race imo. If everyone is honest it is clear to see that Kauto Star didnt travel, or jump like he normally does, (like he didnt at aintree), but then stayed on after the last, again like aintree! And we have seen what has happened to monets garden since that defeat of Kauto.
Denman was very impressive, and is no doubt an exceptional horse, but WAS out on his feet on the line.
So this big match race never really materialised because one of the horses ran below form, so everyone thinks the other horse is the best since arkle! No, just the best horse that ran in the 2008 gold cup.
185 is a silly mark to put denman on, and if he runs in next seasons hennessey this will be exposed because he should be on 178 imo

I find the ratings madness also. It wouldnt suprise me if the form is turned on its head next season. Neptune collonge is a useful horse, but not 178. Imagine what the form will look like if he is beaten at punchestown and kauto runs another lifeless race at aintree.
Also, Denman is apparently going to be aimed at next years hennessey, off a mark of 185 there will be very useful horses running off 10 stone. If he isnt as good as this 185 rating he will be exposed. Personally, i have Denman on 178, Kauto and Neptune on 172 for there gold cup performances which i think is more realistic.
People are right, Phil Smith felt he had to give these ratings with the hype surrounding the race, but he will end up with egg on his face imo!

fair along could be an each way bet if the field is big enough. Goes well fresh and could improve for step up in trip

    1st Kauto Star
    2nd Kicking King (6L)
    3rd Denman (2L)
    4th Exotic dancer (nk)

I think Denman will lead them to the 2nd last but then have set the race up for teh ‘speed’ horses, then stay on again to grab 3rd.

personally i very much doubt the horse will turn up at cheltenham this year. i expect he will run at aintree or punchestown. Just got a feeling PN wants this to be twist magics year after hyping the horse so much

My all time favourite was Rooster Booster. Some other horses i have been fond of are Venn Ottery, Maximise, Lacdoudal, Detroit City, Monkerhostin, Fair Along, Dessie, Grey Abbey, Inglis Drever, Rhinestone Cowboy Spot the difference. Now you can tell im quite young!!!!! None of these (except dessie) will ever be remembered as superstars but all appealed to me!

Lots of people are mentioning this RIDE! i will have to watch the race. perhaps they are aiming the horse at the fred winter handicap and want a low mark!!!
