Good to see Monkerhsotin and Royal Auclair still able to run big races.

    Monkey deserves his money.

    But Huxley mux it up.

Like a lot of jockeys, after being held up in a strongly run race to win. He thought he could hold it up (giving it plenty to do) in a slowly run race. It is the test of stamina he wants, when it is a slowly run race get the horse closer to the pace.

To be fair to Huxley, he is a 7 lb claimer, hasn’t made many mistakes these last few months, and given how well similar tactics worked last week, chances are he was merely riding to orders.

Fair enough DJ, one takes a similar risk in backing an inexperienced jockey as a trainer does on putting him up, but even so he should have had the nous to move earlier, in a slower run race over a shorter distance, rather than 3 fences closer home – as he did yesterday?

Sean Curran appeared entirely happy with Huxley’s ride. It could be the Summer National next for Iris De Balme, victory in which would give the gelding an unprecedented double.
