personaly i dont think he will get the trip unless they put him out the back early on, big burley type, will be treading water turning in and will be vulnerable to lightly weighted stayers. He has never come across to me as an out and out stayer, and 3miles 2 is as far as he looks to want to go at the end of his races. just my opinion!!

Ruby also rides 3 holes longer than Mccoy but i guess that wont mean anything to you ginger!
Yeah denman normally wings his fences i will agree, so why hassle the horse from 5 out when 5l up?
Surely you agree they just dont suit each other thats all people are saying

Most of the Mccoy fans seem to be playing the horse was tired line, funny the horse was hardly blowing after the race and jumped the last 2 fences fine and not like a tired horse at all. plus a tired horse would have hit the deck not found a leg and galloped on. IMO the best thing they could do is get another jockey on and give him a spin over hurdles somewhere to get his jumping confidence back in the next couple of weeks and then have 3 weeks until the festival. wouldnt suprise me if we saw him entered up in a 3 mile hurdle soon. Is the Rendlesham coming up?!

Makes me laugh how people jump on the band waggon about Mccoy, thats WHY he is champion jockey! He rides more favourites than anyone else, he was very good in the early days, when, by coincidence i suspect you lot will say, he rode for the incredibly prolific trainer martin pipe, ever since then he rides more odds on shots than anyone. It made me laugh a few years ago that it took him almost 10 years to ride his biggest priced winner, a 33-1 shot!!!!! says it all!
As for Iris’s Gift, BG rode him in his first race over fences against non novices, and he jumped better than he ever did for mccoy.
The difference between mccoy on denman and ruby on master minded is ruby sat tight!!! and took the blame, non of that from mr mccoy!
HE WILL NOT WIN A GOLD CUP WITH MCCOY ON HIS BACK

Can anyone remember the mistakes Iris’s Gift used to make when Mccoy rode him, When Gereaty rode him he jumped well

Id hate to say i told you so but hey!
Only jokin but it was so obvious that was going to happen, im glad they decided to put mccoy on him for the Aon because it gives them 5 weeks to find another jok! Personally i think Grahem Lee would be a great choice, a proper horseman, as iv said before, Mccoy is great at ‘bullying’ a horse into winning at smaller tracks, but not many jump for him, and as soon as mccoy started pushing Denman changed and looked very uncomfortable with him. Look at the jump mccoy got at the last in the hurdle.
If he is on his back in the gold cup he will jump fine until coming down the hill, mccoy will go for everything being very aggressive and will hit the deck, when beaten at the 2nd last if not before.
Another thing for people to think about, that was Denmans 6th run around Newbury and he has jumped perfect all other times and knows the track VERY well, so imo it was obviously down to Mccoy that he hit the deck.
I hope they either put sam back on or change to a quality rather than quantity jockey

Fair Along off 151 seems a fair mark considering his hurdling mark providing he puts it all in back over fences.

I cant see this being a good combination at all. Denman is a game front runner that needs a jockey who keeps a bit in the tank in reserve for after the last, especially at cheltenham. Look at Mccoys ride on lough derg on saturday, shovelling the coal on over a mile from home, not saying the horse had any chance of winning but was totally nackered by the last. i know Tom scu pushes the horse along but in a different way.
I can just see Mccoy going for glory coming down the hill giving Denman a few smacks because he cant resist it and being so leg wiery by the last he struggles to hold on for 2nd.
I have no doubt that mccoy is the man for the job getting your ‘average’ horse up in a finish at hereford or fontwell but his record in top races on top horses, especially in recent years is poor.

Lacdoudal e/w, could be very well handicapped on old form, looked like he came back to form the other week and usually runs his race

I think zabenz is an interesting entry, seemed to take well to the fences a couple of years ago before his tack broke, and possibly would have won the betfred if he hadnt nearly fallen at the last. If he comes back from injury as good he could have a good each way chance.

Hi cheekster, im looking for an ex racehorse that will be able to hunt, xc, hack etc. Im not bothered about colour or sex, as long as its sound, a ‘nice’ animal and is 16 hands plus.

Does anyone think kauto will have an entry in the national this year? I remember a while ago nicholls saying he can be riden to get any trip and imo is the only horse with any chance of winner the betfair million under its new format. plus it would serve them right if he went and did it.

i think noland is being aimed at this race and will probably win, wouldnt suprise me if voy ran either coz he might need ‘match practice’ as alan king calls it for the king george.
