what should we make of it? he would be set to carry top weight as expected
vf
March 30, 2010 at 17:09 #286535Would be a very tough ask for him to do it, if anyone can though, he can.
March 30, 2010 at 17:12 #286537Place lay.
March 30, 2010 at 17:16 #286540Place lay.
There is no way you can have made a calculated decision on this before you even see the definite runners
March 30, 2010 at 17:19 #286541Personally I think his competition is irrelevant. I think he’ll be exhausted and struggle, so on that basis the value is a place lay.
March 30, 2010 at 17:20 #286543His chances would depend a lot on the ground,I like seeing horses with his rating in handicaps.
If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.
March 30, 2010 at 17:20 #286544Does Paul Nicholls every speak the truth?
Last week he was going to Punchestown

Last week he was going to Punchestown
And the week before that he was going to the Aintree Bowl….and the one before that he wasn’t going to run again!
He does confuse me a little when he’s talking about Denman’s plans thats for sure
March 30, 2010 at 17:24 #286547Fist will be right.
I’ll back it to win, so long as the going is on the easy side of good. Anything rated 150 or so or less will be out of the handicap.
The Scottish National is a far more sensible option than the Mildmay course or the talk last year of running in France.
March 30, 2010 at 17:25 #286549Yup….
Why can’t he just stop talking to the Press

.
I beg to differ.
Denman would face a much more straightforward task over 3m5f at Auteuil off level-weights, than he would giving 2-stone to everything at Ayr over 4m.
He would also collect about £150K more in prize-money for winning the Grande-Steeplechase de Paris.
It’s a no-brainer as far as I can see.
March 30, 2010 at 17:59 #286559I beg to differ.
Grassy realising Gerald has a fragile personality, and has to be treated with kid gloves.
March 30, 2010 at 18:09 #286560No offence caused I trust, Gerald.
March 30, 2010 at 18:22 #286563The Scottish National can often be won by horses that run up with the pace and with Aintree,Ayr,Fairyhouse,Cheltenham,Perth,Sandown and Punchestown all having huge festivals and three day meetings their will be not enough horses so Denman could easily win and try and do what Grey Abbey did a few years ago.
The Scottish race would suit him a lot although the Whitbread could be a better race as he would be a joy to see going down the Sandown back stretch attacking those fences.
March 30, 2010 at 18:24 #286564I think he’ll be exhausted and struggle, so on that basis the value is a place lay.
A few/several/many/most/I thought that before the Hennessy
Aggressive campaigning of a horse built like the proverbial brick shythouse.
Applause and a slap on the shoulders to connections
Bring it on
March 30, 2010 at 18:38 #286567Denman proved he’s still one of the best chasers around coming second in the GC and answered his many critics at the same time, wherever he goes he’s a major candidate to win…I think a marathon trip might well suit.
March 30, 2010 at 18:44 #286569The King of Ante-Post will say this only once! If Denman runs off a mark of 182,he carrys 11-12lb,that would put
Halcon Genelardais
in on 10-00lb and 4lb out of the handicap! Who finished 4th to Denman in the 08 Gold Cup off levels, and himself carried 11-12 to finish a gallant 2nd in the Scottish National?
