Aragorn.
Yes, I wouldn’t be overly concerned if Primo Heights comes up short in the first. I think she may be a shade flattered at Musselburgh, as I said I think the first 2 went too fast and she was one of a number that came from what looked hopeless positions after 2f.
May 9, 2007 at 11:16 #57980Quote: from reet hard on 11:51 am on May 9, 2007[br]The Cheshire Oaks isn’t a race I’d bet in, but I thought the following a telling quote:
Aidan O’Brien, trainer of All My Loving <br>“We think she has come forward from her maiden win at Leopardstown last month, and the form of that race is working out quite well. We think the step up in trip will suit her, and she needs more experience if she is to go up in class again."
And guess which of the big 3 is shortest?:) <br>
The Cheshire Oaks is an interesting race and could well be a significant Epsom trial. I think that the Cecil filly sets a reasonable standard , and if All My Loving can win and win reasonably well, I think that she (AML) will be a major player in the Oaks . ÂÂÂ
Interestingly –  although I’ve never been one to place 100% faith in pedigree analysis  –  All My Loving’s background looks to be that of a middle-distance performer ; more so, imho, than many who are prominent in the Oaks’ betting.
As usual, all will be revealed in time.

May 9, 2007 at 13:07 #57982And my selection was clivexed AND pricewised…..!!
May 9, 2007 at 14:00 #57983Oi!
Well, hadnt remembered what a big bugger he was until the race… Not a type for Chester…at all
Good run by Fair Along though….imagine owning that wonderful beast?
I love stayers races but every year i get sucked into this one and every year i get no where near the winner
May 9, 2007 at 14:56 #57984Great run by Fair Along, Clive- what a game animal that is.
Can’t wait to see him entered with a good draw lin a race with less than twenty other front-runners. Next stop, the Plate?
May 9, 2007 at 15:37 #57985im shocked Dark Angel was 1/2 on BF about 30 mins b4 the race was a comfortable victory in the end
May 9, 2007 at 17:07 #57986Fair Along is a lovely little horse, good over hurdles, fences and on the flat, not many are!<br>Looks like we may have to wait a while to see him out again though, but i think thats a good thing as he goes even better fresh and hobbs will be keen to win the ceserawitch for a second time running. If Richard Johnson gets his act together he could also win a QM in my opinion!

Stall 8 wouldn’t be the best draw in a 5f race around here, but TURN ON THE STYLE gave the speedy Maltese Falcon a start, and caught him within a furlong lto, so may get to the front and stay there tomorrow. <br>8/1 looks a more than fair price.
May 11, 2007 at 10:44 #57988Does anyone subscribe to the view that with Anna Pavlova out, Scorpion must rate as an absolute steal at 5/4?
On his 3 year old form, he has any amount in hand on the rest, and I would be of the opinion that his campaign last year can be written off, never seemed to be at a pitch yet still running sufficently well to be 5th in the Breeders Cup Turf, form that leaves him well clear here.
Ask could be a possible danger, but there is the suspicion that he was flattered by his relative proximity to Sixties Icon in the Leger (4 lengths) as he was hardly ridden to win by any maximum distance.
Aidan O’Brien’s horses also seem to be in very good form, so the only worry is perhaps Chester is not the course for him?

May 11, 2007 at 11:07 #57989Has always looked a pretty well balanced colt to me so i’d probably agree. If Ask is good enough Scorpion is not the colt he was….

Two if’s there Aragorn, so I would probably give the race a miss. Last years winner The Whistling Teal cant be written off either as he is probably been laid out for the race.<br>Having waited all week to back Dhaulur Dhar (3.20c) only to find to my horror that Pricewise, Trading Post and Spotlight (nap) all tipped it up, so obviously the horses price was going to contract, but still at a general 4/1 bits of 9/2 in my eyes it still represents value.<br>"Get On"<br>
May 11, 2007 at 11:38 #57991Agree Madman, but if O’Brien is persisting with him you would have to fancy he’s still as good… Even last season’s form (Which wasn;t great) should be more than good enough to win this…

No doubt on his best form he would have this lot for breakfast, has been contesting top class races most of the time, and the winning of a group 3 should be food and drink, but was beaten in a listed race by Frank Sonata, admittedly after a long absence. He might well bolt up, for me Its a watching brief.
May 11, 2007 at 14:02 #57993wise move then, MM.
Seemed to me that Scorpion ran his race but possibly doesn’t stay 1m6 so well against the classier stayers (the horses he beat in his leger were substandard).
Ask looks to have improved and looks to be a major player in the staying races this season..
May 11, 2007 at 14:55 #57994Seemed to me that Scorpion is patently not the colt he was as a 3yo, he certainly didn’t look it during a light campaign last year. Could be he just ran in to a better one today but I didn’t think he looked all that keen either.

I would take entirely the opposite view.<br>Any horse that wins a heavy ground St Leger at 3 is almost certain to need a stiffer test than today’s as a 5yo, and he simply got outsprinted by Ask, who in turn, is almost certainly flattered by today’s result. Come the Coronation Cup, he won’t see which way Sixties Icon went.
Well done to MM with Dhaulur Dhar.
Does anyone else think we may have seen the Derby winner in today’s Dee Stakes?
