i have no idea about the intention to run but,
A, He fell in the national so may be battered and bruised
B, He always runs well fresh, so running so soon after that fall is probably not a good idea
C, What form, appart from the becher chase, which seems to light him up, has he got to suggest he should be shorter than 40-1

Im not sure how much food, water, stable or gates were on offer during the races to be honest, and in my experience thats about all horses fight/bully about!
No of course the horse doesnt think "FFS i’ve got to go out again, and then run at Cheltenham and Aintree? You w@nker hobbs, i’ll show you, you slave driver"
but they are capable of being bored, tired, fed up, etc, which seems to affect more horses than others, and are known in the horsey world as thinkers.

caught in the last strides!!! thats a joke, i suggest you watch the race again, witchita linman was going up and down on the spot, and if he didnt stay in a fast run race around aintree, what hope has he got in a fast run race around cheltenham on good ground over 3 miles?
Kauto Star is being aimed at the betfair million again, plus the tingle creek on the way, so that would mean the betfair chase, the tingle creek, king george, aon, and gold cup. so not much lighter than this year to be honest!
As for sublimity, poor champion imo, and will be extremely suprised if he wins again. As for horses to beat him, katchit, Ebaziyan and iktitaf as you say, as well as any improvers, afterall sublimity was only 4th in last years supreme novices. Straw bear is another, possibly detroit city if he came back to form, noble request could shock a few, i just dont think he is good enough to conclude that he will win next year already.

BJK is a bridle horse and did not stay, simple as that.
Its one thing winning a novice 3 miler against inferier rivals and quite another taking on the best 3 milers out there.
Having said that, i cant see him winning any race that requires him to battle, but 2 and a half miles seems his trip

Will Sublimity win the Champion Hurdle again?
No, won a champion hurdle where the old gaurd were too old, and other fancied runners didnt run to form. There may not be any obvious new challenges to the title at present, but there will be by next march
Can Inglis Drever defend his World Hurdle Crown?
Yes, the race wasnt run to suit at aintree, black jack and witchita lineman don’t truely stay, and cheltenham isnt mighty mans track.
Will Voy Por Ustedes be the Champion Chaser again?
Probably yes, if Well chief isnt as good as he once was, and theres nothing to say he would have beaten Voy Por Ustedes at cheltenham what else is there to beat him? this years novices have provided cracking races, but there is no superstar amongst them, (2 mile devision).
Can Kauto Star win the gold cup again?
No. His season seemed too good to be true, and if he is in the same form next year, nothing will beat him, but i think thats unlikely and recent gold cup winners dont exactly have a good record of even getting to the race the next season.
Will Silver Birch win back to back Nationals?
No. Good winner this year, but will go up the weights, and you could run the same race over and over and get a different winner
A cracking little mare who could be a star if handled sympathetically, but as has already been mentioned, she is owned by a man who is known to over race promising types, who achieve alot in their first campaign, dont get me wrong, but then disapoint the following year. Plus this mare lacks scope

Detroit City clearly needs a break, i dont think it is so much to do with how many runs he has had because he has only had 6 runs this year, but he has been in training a long time as his first run was in October, meaning he has been doing serious work since last August and maybe before. Thats 9 months of going up the gallops, and for some horses that is plenty.
Hopefully he will be back next year, but i wouldnt be suprised if we dont see him until December time for the Bula.
I think describing horses as bullies etc is abit stupid really, and if anything he is a thinker, and i would iagine he thinks he has worked hard enough this season.
He could do with some hunting imo to freshen him up, it will be a real shame if the real Detroit City has gone

Another Hobbs horse i would love to see over the national fences is lacdoudal. Im sure he would run a big race on fast ground! Unfortunalty his owners are dead against the idea, so looks unlikely ever to run in hte national.

thats good, i had thought that i had missed a statement saying he was unlikely to run or something, but if not, e/w at 33’s must be a good bet.
I did notice that he is entered in the puchestown gold cup tho

i must say it was very odd how the rivalry took hold that year between pipe and nicholls. i can remember there was a race where all the runners where trained by the two trainers.
running horses many times in a short time probably doesnt do them any harm in the short term, but i think its pretty obvious they dont ever come back to the same standard. examples of this are locksmith, commercial flyer, marcel
Martin pipe seemed to be the ‘worst’ culprit for this but im sure it happens else where. To a certain extent nicholls did it last year with darias and ho la baloo

I may have missed something because i have been busy with other things lately, but why has monkerhostin drifted from 20 -1 to 33-1 in the past week?
the last i heard hobbs was aiming him and zabenz at the race?
i have strongly fancied monkerhostin for the national for a while, even more so after his 4th in the gold cup. He always seems to be staying on in his races, and gas a touch of class, winning a coral cup, a holden gold cup, and a bonusprint, and being second in the king george, paddy power, peterbough chase, as well as a 3rd in the totegold trophy.
I cant see him being out of the first 4 because he is a safe jumper, stays, is genuine and has class, and 11.6 is a winnable weight imo.
Of the others, bewleys berry wont stay, nor will libertine, lami has mccoy on board!!, past winners dont win again (very often), simon wants soft ground, Point Barrow and Dun Doire are more likely, but i think they are handicapped to their best, and not sure if they have the class to overcome it. clan royal is past it, osmosis wants some give in the ground, and philson run isnt good enough.
It almost certainly wasnt his true form
As i have said before, sublimity looked good because the other horses were coming back to him

yeah, he only had a 12 stone weight advantage after the 4th fence so is obviously the horse to take out of the race!

before last years queen mother kauto star was the new kid on the block, and moscow flyer was the old guard but had lost his class. (like HE and BI) kauto star fell at the 2nd fence, so the race went to newmill, in impressive style, and like this years champion, there were fallers and horses pulled up who didnt run thier races, like straw bear, Iktitaf and Detroit city in this years champion!
Sublimity deserved to win this year because he was the best horse on the day, as was newmill in last years champion chase, but i cant see sublimity winning it next year. but i might be proved wrong!

he is obviously a good horse, but HE and BI went to fast and were slowing down, look at the sectional times, which made sublimity look as if he was quickening better than he actually did.
Good performance at cheltenham, but i feel he may be next years newmill!
plus he wont get the trip in the ebor even if he does run so dont back him!
