I will also have an each way dabble on Didero Vallis. He’s didn’t run too badly in this last year and is 2 lbs lower this time around.
Thyme Hill was very impressive yesterday but i fail to see how he is now best price 5/1 for the Stayers and Fury Road is still available at 14s? That may change after the Hattons Grace tomorrow so going in on Fury Road one more time with the form of the Albert Bartlett being well and truly boosted in the last 24 hours.
Yes i was similarly delighted with that run from Monkfish, he oozed class. He’s the only horse i have backed for this and have him in a couple of festival multiples as well. Perfect start to his chasing career that.
I settled on Whatmore last night. His seasonal debut was excellent behind the Ascot specialist Regal Encore and his chances are obvious if taking his Cheltenham 4th in March into account. He’s vying for favouritism now but managed to get 4/1 yesterday.
Really looking forward to this race. Won’t be betting on the outcome but i’d love to see Paisley and Sam Spinner return to somewhere near their best. McFabulous looked exactly that last time out and Thyme Hill could be the new kid on the block (Hobbs good ones have been very poor on seasonal debuts so far though).
Lets hope it lives up the the billing.
Domain De L’Isle not declared Kendicate! Good job i wasn’t interested in backing him prior to Saturday. Of those that remain, Whatmore has the most solid profile but it certainly looks like Pym might get to dictate things from the front which he likes to do.
Cashed out Sam Brown in the nick of time as he’s been taken out. Pretty happy with Vinndication at this stage but its a wide open race for sure.
No real angle as such, Kendicate. I just think he’s got potential off a low weight and his winning form last year was solid. Step back up in trip is a positive and Pym should ensure they go a good gallop which will also suit.
We’ve found the winner

Attacked his fences in the manner of a very good horse; flashy at some, put himself right at others. Already looking forward to his next run.
A race i really like at my local track.
Plenty that are entered probably won’t run but Lord Du Mesnil started his excellent run at Newcastle with his first win in Britain when narrowly beating Sam’s Adventure in the novices handicap chase. Would prefer softer ground and is a doubtful runner.
Lake View Lad won this race in 2018 and has won 3 out of his 4 runs at the track. Versatile ground-wise.
Takingrisks won this last year but it appeared to leave its mark as he disappointed on each outing afterwards. Better ground might well suit.
Domain De L’Isle is 1/1 at the track, beating Sam’s Adventure by a wider margin that LDM achieved in doing so. I could see him coming here.
No bet yet but Takingrisks and Domain De L’Isle would be the 2 for now. If Two For Gold were to come here then he’d me my idea of the favourite and rightly so.
I’ve cashed out my Sam Brown bet. Forecast suggests the ground will be too quick for him and given he’s fairly inexperienced in big fields, cashing out for a full refund suits me.
Vinndication’s schooling left a lot to be desired last week but i think 8s is fair as he’s better off with Kildidart (my second choice for this) and The Conditional on their Cheltenham running and had a nice prep.
Most of the field would prefer softer going than what is forecast which complicates things.
They’ve not long been moved into another country with unfamiliar surroundings and brand new training regimes (to a degree). That said, you’d be hard pressed to be able to improve a horse that’s left Willie’s yard.
Laurina i gave up on a good while ago, time for her to make some (expensive) babies. Real Steel travelled well enough and was beaten by a rapidly improving horse. He’ll win a good pot at some point for Nicholls.
That was a heartwarming victory for Bristol De Mai. Nothing better than watching a brave and bold front-runner grind the opposition into submission

Today proves Lostintranslation isn’t a true stayer for me, for all that Tizzard has his string badly undercooked. On the flip-side it might mean Tiz has a better Cheltenham this year, though it would he hard to have a worse one with the horses at his disposal.
Clan Des Obeaux would seem nailed on for this after today but racing is a funny old game
Well done VtC. Seems crazy to say you did well to find the winner after he’d won his last 8 in a row

Wish I’d seen that about Imperial Alcazar Mike!
That’s a fantastic prize fund. Can’t wait to collect it

Goshen taken out of the Coral Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday. Something doesn’t seem right with him. Disappointed on the flat and now seems to be running scared of just about anything over hurdles. I’m sure just yesterday Moore was ruling out the Fighting Fifth in favour of Ascot…
