Paul Townend has practically won everything there is to win in this sport. There is no doubt in my mind he’d have pulled the horse up if he had any reason to believe the horse was hurt.
It looked grim to us as viewers though. It was a terrible error and the horse clearly wasn’t moving right afterwards. Very unpleasant incident but no wrongdoing on behalf of the jockey, in my opinion.

He said after yesterday’s race that they have one even better at home from the same sire. Notebook name Boley Bob.
Getting mine in nice and early!
Win: Stellar Story
E/W: Lecky Watson
Res: The Real WhackerI’m with Waroftheroses. Golden Ace a big fancy but only managed to get 11/1 this morning
I’ve been very keen on Stellar Story for a year but it was like taking a sledgehammer to the face when I saw Robbie Dunne jocked up. Mustn’t be fancied at all by the yard.
Added Lecky Watson last week with the ground looking lively. Not put off by Sean O’Keefe getting the ride so he’s probably the main hope now.
Thanks again to the Raymos for running this and good luck everyone.

He deserved to take his chance in the best of the best race. He was minded all season for this as his swan song a cruel twist of fate befell him in my view. I have no doubt whatsoever that Henry and everyone involved with the horse loved him far more than we as fans do/did. Just terrible luck. No changes required.
Lows. Envoi Allen. Lows don’t get any lower. Not given the headlines this deserves. Nobody to blame but a despairing low which has completely ruined the week, for me.
Highs. Feels dirty even thinking about it but Jingko Blue winning me a small fortune was a genuine thrill which now pales into insignificance in light of the Envoi Allen tragedy.
One of the great horses of the modern era. A truly horrific postscript to an astonishing career. Utterly undeserved. RIP Envoi Allen. I won’t forget you as long as I live.
Huge thanks to Mr and Mrs Raymo for running this competition. It’s been a great festival.
