I think it was a mistake to be fair but he did say it twice. Silly Willie.

He’s not jocked up yet according to RP so i assumed that meant he was more likely for the Ladbrokes. If he’s going Paddy Power then my mind is made up; Sam Brown for this.

I’ve had another look at this tonight and first time since Topofthegame was ruled out.

Slate House catches the eye on last season’s form. He’d had a lot of racing by the time he went off the boil. I think he has a nice weight as a result of his form tapering off. His sketchy jumping would be the main worry. Also think jockey bookings will give clues as to who the stable think will do better between him and Copperhead.

The other i’m interested in is Sam Brown. Very lightly raced for his age. He ran poorly at Ascot in February but his comeback run on ground which would’ve been quick enough for him was encouraging. He’d be my pick right now but i’m happy to sit and wait rather than play antepost.

Willie Mullins mentions in his ‘Five to Follow’ Sporting Life interview that Carefully Selected could be an outsider for this and encourages nibbles at the early prices. Seems quite a bold comment by his standards. The horse would have to improve considerably from his Novice Chase effort last year but Native River is an obvious example of a horse than was beaten in that race but went on to win the big one.

Anyone seen Willie Mullins ‘Five to Follow’ interview with Sporting Life? Not once but twice Willie mentions the Ryanair for Chacun Pour Soi. Thought it was a mistake at first but to mention this race a second time…maybe should be looking at him for this rather than Champion Chase or are the old Willie Mullins wildcard comments starting early?

Kauto Riko now 25/1 from 66 with Paddy Power. Don’t think my punt was big enough to send shockwaves through PP HQ but it’s encouraging to see support coming for him. Questions marks about the track are valid as Green mentioned but I’ve beaten the market at least with both of my selections.

Kauto Riko would be interesting for this having taken another look. His best form seems to come when fresh and bits and pieces of his form stands up well against some of these. 66/1 with Paddy Power looks fair

Still happy with 10s for Saint Sonnet but will probably back a saver on the day. I sometimes worry that the french ones might be a touch overrated without doing much on the track (see Solo).

Disappointing news. Even worse that it is a recurrence of the same tendon injury. That might be him finished from racing which would be a shame.

The race is wide open now. Not a race I will be dabbling in until the day.

Bit of an early shout but i’m already liking the look of Mister Coffey for the Arkle 2022. Loads of size and scope about him and i can seem him being lightly raced again this season with chasing next year in mind.

Thanks grass, VtC. Had him in a double with Bravemansgame so I had a minor sweat on after the last!

Dreal Deal seems to be targeting this, although he won’t be running in the Newbury qualifier this week. He will have gone up about 100lbs in the handicap by March if all goes to plan

I think Greaneteen is a much better horse going right handed. I’d be confident his 4th in the Grand Annual wasn’t his best showing and i think he will win this.

Very sad, he was a promising horse for connections.

I was tempted to go with Espoir De Romay, a novice chaser, from Kim Bailey’s yard who just so happens to run at Huntingdon tomorrow. Seen him in the paddock at Newcastle last year when i went down to see another horse i like called Imperial Alcazar. Espoir De Romay was massive! Looks a proper chaser. He ran well that day too in a close 3rd. Think he will improve for fences.
