Can’t knock that performance from Cyrname and can’t call him an overrated Ascot specialist anymore either. He was impressive today, fair play.
I think the Cheltenham criticisms are unfair. Clan Des Obeaux doesn’t like Cheltenham either but is a dual King George winner. Many champions still have weaknesses.
Thanks VtC, same to you

I’m not too worried. I’d rather Abacadabras peaked in mid March than late October. Travelled well but tired late on.
Have to admit i was surprised Aspire Tower was the one to beat him but i’m not taking the form literally i.e. Goshen isn’t a certainty all of a sudden.
Envoi Allen is all class. Hard to pick any faults in his jumping or anything else really. Superstar

I think Chris’ Dream will win but happy to watch rather than bet him at the price
Regal Encore for me. 12 years young now so it’s probably a sentimental bet but his course form is fantastic and he’s still on a winnable mark if the fire still burns (which his trainer has said it does).
The form of Keeper Hill’s seasonal debut last year has tempted me in for an each way bet at 28/1. He’s unpredictable and i’m not the biggest fan of Warren Greatrex either but if he brings his A game and avoids making mistakes, he could go well.
Brilliant result for the north and even better being from my geographically closest trainer (though i wouldn’t recognise her if i bumped into her in the street!)
It’s an interesting one. My dad was the reason i got into racing. Without him i may not have had any interest in the sport.
The way i see it there are 2 major hurdles (pardon the pun) preventing interest in the younger age group; money and opportunity.
Most young boys like football, for example, because from an early age they play it. They’re not particularly interested in watching it but as they grow up they take more of an interest in the hobby that they took up as a toddler. How many kids get to ride a horse/pony? In the main the answer is the rich or perhaps those from a farming background. It’s not an obvious hobby, nor is it a cheap one.
Racing ownership is even more of a closed shop due to the absurd prices paid. It’s not exactly a game of the people is it? Then there is the negative publicity towards betting which is inextricably linked to racing.
Those are my thoughts on the issues preventing a greater interest in the younger ages but i’m afraid i don’t have any easy solutions

Abracadabras
Clan Des Obeaux
Edwardstone
Envoi Allen (star horse)
Fury Road
Honeysuckle
Lostintranslation
Minella Indo
Saint Sonnet
ShishkinMy first entry in any competition on here. Thanks for running VtC

I know the Nicholls stable are well known to be sweet on their horses for the big races but i do think Saint Sonnet has potential to be much better than his current mark. I’ve backed him as low as 8s and also gone for a double with Edwardstone in the Greatwood Hurdle.
I was happy to see Alan King confirm in his RP stable tour that Edwardstone is on track for this. Yet to be decided if he’ll have a pipe opener beforehand or not. Personally i would prefer it if he did but i’ll be backing him either way. Already taken the 10s.
Real Steel still the only bet for me so far at 25s. Clan Des Obeaux is the right favourite and will most likely be fav on the day too. I’d be prepared to give Lostintranslation another go if the Tizzard’s decide to run him but not antepost.
It will be great to see the old boy strutting his stuff again this season. Win or lose, he owes nobody a thing. As long as he is still happy doing it and his body can take the strain then why not continue.
I can’t wait to see him out

I want to take Topofthegame on due to the length of time he’s been off the track and having to carry top weight. However, the more I look the less I see that can beat him. Copperhead is the obvious alternative at this stage who looks potentially capable of improving enough to win. Other than him it’s the favourites for the taking if he’s fit enough, which he surely will be, hailing from Nicholls’ yard.
Agree with most of your comments, Yogi

So far i’ve only dabbled with a couple of low stakes multiples. Abracadabras (Champion Hurdle), Monkfish (RSA) and Fury Road (Stayers Hurdle). £5 returns a little over £8k.
Also got a speculative £5 each way on Captain Guinness for the Arkle (16/1), Concertista in the Champion Hurdle (33/1), Put The Kettle On in Champion Chase (16/1) and Melon for the Ryanair (16/1). If all were to win, i’ll be close to becoming a millionaire

I also feel that Fiddlerontheroof could go to the next level over fences and i hope he can win this. That said, all 3 are fantastic horses and whichever order they finish in you would be delighted owning any of them.
