Copperhead entered for a pertempts qualifier at Cheltenham this week
Wonder if that is a genuine target or they want to get a run into him for this without risking his handicap mark going up
Doing the Native River thing.
October 19, 2020 at 21:33 #1506760I want to take Topofthegame on due to the length of time he’s been off the track and having to carry top weight. However, the more I look the less I see that can beat him. Copperhead is the obvious alternative at this stage who looks potentially capable of improving enough to win. Other than him it’s the favourites for the taking if he’s fit enough, which he surely will be, hailing from Nicholls’ yard.
October 19, 2020 at 21:37 #1506761Hi Mike (nice to speak via forum),I agree that COPPERHEAD is a lovely progressive horse from last year, who slaughtered a field around Newbury over 3:2. If you take a look at RSA, AYE RIGHT got passed by COPPERHEAD at the 3rd last but went past him going to down the hill and was still in front of COPPERHEAD (plus travelling better) when that fell at the second last. He could have well had too many hard races leading up to the RSA but I think AYE RIGHT deserves to be at least the same price (if not shorter) than COPPERHEAD?
COPPERHEAD 16’s
AYE RIGHT 40’s….Its all about opinions though…..good luck
October 19, 2020 at 22:47 #1506768Yeah Clints, be great to see him come back. Questionable after such a lay-off, but surely showing something.
October 20, 2020 at 00:31 #1506774Hi Yogi. At least you have Copperhead as well.
October 20, 2020 at 17:55 #1506822Big fan of Copperhead and any race taken in before this is purely to put him right for Newbury. Race looks tailor made for him and can see a big run, especially given the usual early season form the Tizzards tend to produce.
Topofthegame has been great fun to follow over the last few seasons and I was gutted when he was ruled out last term. I’m not one to go all in first run back after an injury set back, but he’s clearly a cut above and with our without a prep run it’s hard to not see him in the firing line. Right favourite.
October 21, 2020 at 09:03 #1506852Ladbrokes had/have 12/1 on Copperhead leftover so i’ve taken a piece of that.
Blatant prep run this weekend and it’s a positive they are doing that given his previous runs fresh. Wouldn’t exactly think this horse is a standout G1 winner in waiting like TOTG (if returning A1) but the trainer’s record in the race is what interests me the most. He clearly targets the race.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 21, 2020 at 12:08 #1506870I’m beginning to get tempted by Copperhead myself, he’s got a very obvious look about him now.
October 25, 2020 at 14:13 #1507310Fantastic performance off top weight from NUTS WELL in the old Roan, I didn’t bet in the race but this was the horse that beat AYE RIGHT at Kelso over a distance that was far far too short for AYE RIGHT. AYE RIGHT 5th in RSA and hopefully all systems go for the Ladbroke Chase now
October 25, 2020 at 21:56 #1507367I’m on two here. Copperhead 14-1 + Mister Malarky 50-1 ew
Copperhead is the obvious one, but I think that Mister Malarky is good ew bet, especially with 5 places
October 28, 2020 at 17:58 #1507585October 28, 2020 at 19:08 #1507593Why is de rasher counter 33/1?
Him and copperhead jump out at the moment
October 28, 2020 at 19:27 #1507594Turns out he’s not oddschecker just hasn’t updated betfairs price
25s 4 places will do me though
October 28, 2020 at 20:04 #1507602De Rasher County is 11 pound higher taking into account the claimer allowance last year. Don’t strike me as a real classy sort capable of winning back to back. Then its just a case of how many unexposed/low weighted sorts there are in the race that beat him for a place.
October 28, 2020 at 23:50 #1507615De Rasher Counter will have to give mine 9lb on official ratings and I really think AYE RIGHT is unexposed, but I have eaten humble pie before.
One of the things I can’t understand, AYE RIGHT was ahead and had COPPERHEAD beat in the RSA when COPPER fell two out, now COPPER (if they both go and as of now) has to give AYE RIGHT 9lb when they were levels in the RSA. I know AYE RIGHT was the rank outsider in the RSA but form is form is form?
I’m just hoping AYE RIGHT goes at Carlisle on Sunday and has a nice spin around and not the Charlie Hall on Sat then all systems go for Newbury
AYE RIGHT 40’S ew and in again at 25’s ew…..nibbling away
October 29, 2020 at 00:16 #1507616Copperhead ran too close to the festival on very soft ground to show his true ability id say
Other horses who ran at that meeting ran no race at Cheltenham either
Sporting john is one that immediately comes to mind
October 29, 2020 at 00:27 #1507619Still no bet yet, and unusually for me, it’s the front two I like. Copperhead and Topofthegame.
Probably have to make my mind up soon for Copperhead, but maybe bigger window for Topofthegame.
Of the bigger prices, Slate House and Danny Whizzbang, both look big at 33’s, while I agree with Buckers on Mister Malarky, he’s very big looking at 50’s.
I could be tempted with Mister Malarky at that price, especially with a drier build up, but I’ll no doubt just end up with Regal Encore.
