    Love this comp.

Who’s the horse that you left out of the final 10 that you think might go and win all round itself now without you- the horse you’re getting FOMO about already? Mine’s Minella Indo, it was him or Allaho for my Irish 3m open chaser till the last minute…and he looked so good the other day, and has beaten Allaho plenty and a better jumper…but Allaho is so scopey and a year younger so I picked him, dammit they’ll probably clash all year and MI will spank my boy every time. But Allaho is so beautiful and I love him so had to pick him.

Who’s the horse you picked that you think will do better than other people think? Mine’s Lisnagar Oscar- I think people forget his interrupted prep for the Stayers and consider him a lucky winner of a bad race.

And who’s the “oooh, interesting” horse somebody else picked and you didn’t? Mine are Buster Valentine picked by robnorth and Flinteur Sacre. Henderson horse could be a rocket ship and Barry Geraghty sounds starstruck, but novice hurdlers just too risky for me.

Good luck for the season everyone, hope your 10 all stay safe and sound and win plenty.
    Let the games begin!

Good question Grass, but I’m probably not the best person to answer, given my approach to this.

I would definitely have considered Easywork, which is TAPK’s star horse, and also Andy Dufresne, and Frodon.

I thought Champ, Fury Road, Politologue, and Put The Kettle On would be more popular.

The four I left out at the last moment were….

    Elf De Re
    General Principle
    Not What It Seems
    Trees Valley

I just know that both Envoi Allen and Shishkin are going to rack up a sequence of wins each but this competition rewards winning big races; there aren’t that many valuable novice chases pre-Cheltenham for Shishkin, in particular, to be aimed at.

My underestimated dark horse is obviously Sceau Royal; as explained, I’ve taken the view that racing may be suspended again so he’s in primarily for the Greatwood Hurdle, although I could see him being aimed at the Bula Hurdle too, which is another bonus points race.

As for the “Ooh.. interesting” one- just about anything from Robnorth’s list!

I love this comp too! That’s such a good question greenasgrass. I hope you’re right about Minella Indo as I made him my star horse this year. Although I was so tempted to give it to Honeysuckle again.

My list was changing almost hourly towards the end. The last ones to be cut were probably Saint Roi, Defi du Seuil & Put the Kettle On. I wanted a balance between established horses and novices, hurdlers and chasers, as I don’t want my horses running against each other all year long.

I think Thyme Hill will do well in a weak Staying Hurdle division (it was between him and Fury Road for me), Monkfish an exciting novice chaser for Willie Mullins & Flinteur Sacre.

I haven’t looked that closely at the other entrants yet.
