Tizzard on TBB

Tizzard also had news of the exciting The Big Breakaway, who is already being spoken of as a Gold Cup horse of the future and will run at Exeter next Friday.
Tizzard said: “He’s going back in trip [2m3f] at Exeter before the the Kauto Star or the Dipper – most likely the former.
“We want to get another run into him as we don’t want to get to March lacking experience and now is the time to do it. Next year he’ll be in the big league, whatever happens, so we want to make sure he’s got the experience.”
November 28, 2020 at 11:38 #1512406Nice run round for Monkfish
November 28, 2020 at 11:39 #1512407Superb
Absolutely delighted with that
November 28, 2020 at 11:53 #1512411Lovely start for backers there, nice to see them jump well on first try over fences. I noticed he was neat enough when he got in short once or twice which is impressive for a big young horse. Also corrected slightly left a couple of times which is no harm at all
I’d be delighted with that if I was on him.November 28, 2020 at 11:56 #1512413Yes i was similarly delighted with that run from Monkfish, he oozed class. He’s the only horse i have backed for this and have him in a couple of festival multiples as well. Perfect start to his chasing career that.
December 4, 2020 at 14:39 #1512969If monkfish was a 10/10 for his performance that was a -5/10 for the big breakaway
Don’t like his headcarriage at all
Headgear and much further next time
December 4, 2020 at 15:12 #1512971It was a poor performance, but a shocking ride as well in my opinion. The Big Breakaway is a stayer, but they really made it a sprint. The 80-rated horses were on the bridle turning for home.
December 4, 2020 at 16:00 #1512977Just seen the replay of TBB race. Nothing wrong with the ride that I could see, just running him over a mile too short. He wasn’t on my RSA shortlist before today, and still isn’t, but in his defence not the right trip.
December 4, 2020 at 16:34 #1512980I wasn’t blown away as many were with TBB’s Cheltenham win, but still think it’s premature to be pushing him out aggressively for the RSA now.
He’s a lazy borderline ungenuine horse and shaped similarly to Cheltenham – lost concentration mid race, generally looked awkward. He just couldn’t get away with that over a shorter trip versus a faster animal. Connections still have headgear to add (surely just a matter of time) and I’d still say he has good frame claims in the RSA. An all-out war over a stiff 3m+ is going to suit much better.
December 5, 2020 at 14:01 #1513134Just a case of when his wind or legs give up
There ya go, Mullins vet be booking TBG’s wind op into the diary for Monday morning before his mobile even rings I reckon. Unless the horse was very unfit which I don’t think they’d chance with such a big horse.
December 6, 2020 at 20:18 #1513380Chantry House entered over 3m1f at Cheltenham on Friday and is a sea of blue on oddschecker for this. Happy I covered, put it that way
December 6, 2020 at 22:38 #1513387Blackbow looked electric at his fences on debut at Navan, a race Willie tends to throw his best (and not just 2 mile) novice chasers at.
The markets and more immediate entries point towards an Arkle run, although I think he’d almost certainly be better over a trip. Obviously the one big issue in that regard is having Monkfish in the same stable. Having said that Willie’s way does tend to be to have the best chance of winning a race as opposed to splitting his up. I can’t see him wanting to take on Envoi Allen in the Marsh and despite evidence to the contrary taking Shishkin on back at 2 miles seems even more unlikely.
I do think the stiffer test would play to his strengths. I’ve had a small token bet on him for this in hope rather than expection that he’ll be aimed this way.
December 12, 2020 at 12:48 #1513952Chantry House disappointing today, possibly the going being a disadvantage
He’s not getting near Envoi Allen in the Marsh and should come here imo on better going would have a better chance but Monkfish looks the oneGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
December 12, 2020 at 12:57 #1513955Chantry very disappointing. He didn’t travel well and his jumping wasn’t particularly fluent- it all looked like hard work and not much fun. Considering Henrietta Knight was going on before season started about what a good jumper he was, I wonder if there’s something actually wrong with him, or whether he’s just not that good (mind you she was sniffy about Al Boum Photo before the gold cup this year and look how that turned out…just for that I hope he wins another to equal Best Mate). Yes Chantry might prefer better ground but so should Fusil Raffles who won.
Duw, it’s hard picking horses!
Lieutenant Rocco a likeable big beast.December 12, 2020 at 13:03 #1513959GG I watched and as much as I like fusil this isn’t going to be festival form
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2020 at 13:06 #1513961Agree HDLG, on today’s running none of those 3 would see which way the winner went in the Marsh or RSA.
December 14, 2020 at 14:13 #1514195Still no bet here for me, and certainly no sight so far of my early fancy, Column of Fire.
I know the yard have Monkfish (and others), but the 25’s for Janidil appeals right now.
