He still looked like a big baby
They will need to get as many runs into him as they can before Cheltenham
November 16, 2020 at 13:59 #1510944Absolutely FF91. He is a big raw thing isn’t he. He looked like he was learning on the job yesterday, but I’m not too worried about the big jumps as the pace was quite sedate – as soon as there was some pace injected into the race (and he was asked to actually race) he was lower and faster, which bodes well.
That jump after he completely switched off down the back straight was a marvellous jump (12th) and even though he jumped the 13th (water jump) huge, he gets from A to B quickly, and Robbie’s comments re dropping him back to 2m5f to ‘sharpen him up’ look spot on to me – get him in a race with more tempo, a stronger gallop, and teach him to jump fences under those conditions, and think a bit more.
I’d say 8/10 for a debut run, 6/10 as a prospect for this.
November 16, 2020 at 14:13 #1510946Nice beginners Chase at Gowran Park on Friday, and really interested to see if Janidil takes his chance.
Really like this horse, and think he could be a possibility here, though I’ve a feeling that maybe one for The National Hunt Chase.
Others who’re entered that are catching the eye at Gowran……
Coko Beach
Commander of Fleet
January JetsNovember 16, 2020 at 15:28 #1510956Very interested to see how Commander of Fleet gets on whenever he reappears. I thought he showed a great attitude when he won at the Dublin Racing Festival last year.
I backed him for the Albert Bartlett and was disappointed when he could not beat a 50/1 chance. That turned out to be Minella Indo, so it was not such a bad run after all!
I will watch how he gets on and if he wins first time out I will be very tempted to back him for this.
November 16, 2020 at 16:32 #1510960Yeah, I’m looking forward to watching Janadil over a fence – just wish it was Geraghty in the saddle.
TBB looked like a good horse and I’ve backed him to lay as he might be the best of the British and go to Cheltenham undefeated.
Latest Exhibition is better on decent ground and his trainer has regular barren periods of form
November 16, 2020 at 17:48 #1510965Charlie i’m not sure about TBB having more natural class than Native River. However, TBB is definitely being minded whereas Native River thrived on racing in his earlier days, though not so much these days.
I do like TBB a lot but i think he’s the sort who will get better and better with age as Native River did. 25/1 is a fair price for this though
November 16, 2020 at 20:01 #1510974Hopefully progresses as you say, TYT, but these Getaways often flatter to deceive – look promising, quite often sell for big money after their PTP win but, aside from Verdana Blue, none of them have really made it at the highest level.
November 19, 2020 at 21:24 #1511398Chantry House out tomorrow. If Pic beats him I will cry.
November 19, 2020 at 21:50 #1511400Depends how he loses. If its because he needs further then that’ll do me.
November 19, 2020 at 22:06 #1511401Well, true. I’ve only backed him for the RSA not the Marsh. But if he’s going to win the RSA, he should be up to winning this.
November 19, 2020 at 23:13 #1511403Me too (RSA).
November 20, 2020 at 08:29 #1511419I hope Chantry House wins today but think the market has this one right – 40/1 for this, 14/1 for the Marsh.
Appreciate plans can change and JP doesn’t appear to have a stand out RSA horse yet, but Hendo was pretty adament intermediate trips would be his bag this season.
Who knows. I’ll give it some thought this morning. Could run scared of EA I suppose and 40’s does seem big. Hmm, have I done a u-turn mid post and talked myself into it
November 20, 2020 at 08:38 #1511420Yeh I’ve talked myself into it – 40/1 too big – they could easily elect to swerve EA and with no stand out JP RSA horse it could be him. At 20 I wouldn’t bother but 40 is my kinda price
November 20, 2020 at 12:32 #1511436Having watched Chantry House just now, a step up in trip will definitely suit.
November 20, 2020 at 13:27 #1511445I agree Mike – Hendo was pretty adamant his trip would only go in one direction and that’s up.
For the Marsh I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed, as I hoped he would be quicker and slicker at his fences, but then it was a chase debut and I shouldn’t expect too much too soon. Perfectly reasonable to expect him to improve for the run on soft ground.
November 20, 2020 at 15:13 #1511464He didnt travel well today
Youd have to hope nicky left plenty of improvement in him
A decent start but pic dorhy was far from beaten when falling
November 20, 2020 at 22:40 #1511496Wish Pic D’orhy had stayed on his feet to give the form more substance, i suspect Chantry would’ve won but not necessarily by a flashy distance. Still, beating a 150 hurdler with a run under his belt would’ve been a very nice performance.
