This far out that wouldnt worry me
Odds on them both even making it to the festival let alone both turning into genuine contenders could be slim
Happy to have both on side at this stage at those prices
As they are the types with that trainer who could end up very short if one of them wins the right races
October 7, 2020 at 21:54 #1505261My first Cheltenham bet for this season was Aione at 33/1 for The National Hunt Chase.
I think that would be a more realistic target, but I thought 50/1 was worth a bet for The RSA as well.
October 7, 2020 at 22:36 #1505267I’ve taken 33s on The Big Breakaway- seen as the most exciting horse Tizzard has and compares well with his other stars i think he’s very big at 33s.
Tizzard’s festival record is enough to put some off but looking through the betting, it looks very much like the Irish are going to dominate. Therefore TBB will probably one of the top 2 GB challengers, and if he does win some of the better novice chases on his way to the festival i see him being single figures.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 14, 2020 at 18:55 #1506072Is there any word on commander of fleet ? , off last year , can’t see any entries
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 15, 2020 at 00:02 #1506093I wouldn’t worry about lack of entries HDLG, only a couple of Jumps meetings in Ireland the next week, so no surprise to see no entries right now.
October 15, 2020 at 00:05 #1506094Pleased I held off with Column of Fire, as he’s staying over hurdles.
Of those mentioned, I do like The Big Getaway at 20’s
October 18, 2020 at 10:55 #1506608Monkfish 8-1 and Chantry House 40-1 at this stage for me
October 22, 2020 at 19:58 #1506990“I can’t wait to see The Big Getaway over three miles on heavy ground over fences. I think he’s the biggest horse we’ve ever had.
“Paul schooled Monkfish morning and was delighted with him. He’s a horse who is improving all the time and maturing – the penny is starting to drop and he’s as exciting a novice chaser as we have in the yard.
Positive words from mullins over those two
Diol Ker who beat monkfish by 7 lengths last year is down for a beginners chase on Sunday at Galway too and will be worth keeping an eye on going forward
October 25, 2020 at 16:45 #1507335Straight after the last festival I bet MONKFISH for this at 14/1. A classy big raw type with stamina in plentiful supply. Summer to fill this horse out and all systems go for this and I believe a fence will improve him further.
My left-field choice for this is the horse I did for this race before a fibrillating heart put the mockers on it for last season. BRIGHT FORECAST finished a fast finishing (3rd) just behind CHAMP in (2nd ) in the Ballymore.
Ben Pauling has always said whatever he did over hurdles would be a bonus and he rates him as the best horse he has ever trained and chasing is his game. They have taken their time with him but I foresee a big season for this staying novice. On at 33’s ewMONKFISH 14/1 ew
BRIGHT FORECAST 33/1 ewOctober 26, 2020 at 12:11 #1507404Latest exhibition and longhouse poet declared for punchestown on Wednesday
Jumps is starting to kick in properly now
October 29, 2020 at 12:48 #1507655Already on Chantry House and Dickie Diver but I’ve had another bet- Harry Senior, who Tizz thought was his best chance of a festival winner in March. He battered a hurdle in the AB and was lucky not to fall. Think he is a proper staying chaser in the making. Only 2nd fav today- his main rival came 4th in the Martin Pipe and it’s a Thursday at Stratford so not as if he’s going to charge to the head of the market if he wins, but I really like the look of him. 50-1 currently.
October 29, 2020 at 13:19 #1507661Well that was short lived. Poor Harry
October 29, 2020 at 16:57 #1507696Monkfish might be the more obvious of Willies RSA contenders but for me The Big Getaway @ 20/1 is the bet at this stage.
I thought his performance in the Ballymore was excellent and it’s clear from his size and everything they have said that he will improve for fences. For me I think he will emerge as Willies main RSA hope.
October 29, 2020 at 17:30 #1507698Mullins has said Monkfish is as good a novice chaser he has in his stable.
October 29, 2020 at 17:59 #1507700Correct Mike, he did, hence why Monkfish is as short as 7/1, and The Big Getaway is nearly three times the price at 20/1.
The Mullins pecking order will no doubt chop and change, it always does, but 7/1 in October from an Ante Post perspective doesn’t appeal to me, whereas TBG does.
I try (where possible) not to let comments like that lure me in to single figure prices this early. Of course, they shouldn’t be ignored and of course they are relevant, but they rarely hold up.
October 29, 2020 at 20:38 #1507712The only thing putting me off The Big Getaway is that he’s like Topofthegame- a huge beast and therefore perhaps more vulnerable to injury (says she who has backed Dickie Diver
)October 29, 2020 at 20:47 #1507713Don’t quite understand using similarities with an RSA winner to make the case against TBG for the RSA
