Put The Kettle On is 3 from 3 at Cheltenham. Great value right now.

Very pleased with Put The Kettle On although, after her front running performance in the Arkle, I would have liked to have seen her a bit more forward. Would have made it less nerve-wracking.

Not sure what’s up with DDS – he may well not have been as good a horse as people think, but I also suspect he may want further and better ground.

Put The Kettle On is fives with PP right now. Considering she’s raced Rouge Vif twice, and both those times have been at Cheltenham, and both times she’s beaten him comfortably, and seeing as Defi isn’t quite all that…it’s very, very good value.

(Full disclosure – Put The Kettle On is my pick for next year’s Champion Chase)

Demi Plie is in, so it’s her, Freewheeling Dylan and Doctor Duffy as my three.

I think Doctor Duffy is a worthy favourite and, at 11/2, a decent sort of price right now.

I’m also very interested in Demi Plie if she runs, while Freewheeling Dylan and Kupatana tickle my fancies, with Freewheeling Dylan just having the edge in my mind.

I’m a big fan of Champ. He’s clearly not got a problem with the course, he’s still improving, and he’s a good price. So he’s the one for me.

I would hope Honeysuckle’s connections have the balls they were born with and run her here.

The three I like here are

    Royal Rendezvous
    Spyglass Hill
    Mortal

Let’s hope one of them can do the biz.

Right now, I just think that Mogul would need to improve a hell of a lot over LTO. It’s not impossible, but I can’t really see it happening. However, the price of Pyledriver makes me think there’s some value there.

I think we might see an end to the Coolmore domination this year – Russian Emperor looks the best of a pretty average bunch – but what else?

The one horse that does intrigue me is Worthily. I mean, would Gosden put one in just for the sake of having a Derby runner?

I’m going to take a proper look at this when the declarations proper come out but, as it stands, is there any good reason to discount Pyledriver at his price?

Love’s my main bet, but I think Rose Of Kildare could run a big race at a big price.

In my attempt to get Pinatubo beaten, I’m also looking at Royal Dornoch. Bred to be a miler, he looks like a better horse than his price suggests. Probably won’t play until the decs (because AOB has put better horses than him in as pacemakers – yes, I’m talking about Treasure Beach. YES, I’M STILL BITTER, DAMMIT) but I’d be interested to hear why not him.

    Anyone want to argue against?

Pinatubo is a worthy favourite, but if (and I’m aware that it’s a big if) Alson lines up, I think he’s got some real value. He’s not done a lot wrong and has the right sort of profile. Put it like this – I’ve got more belief that he’s capable of beating the favourite than either of the two AOB horses who’ve been talked about.

I also like Kenzai Warrior as an ew bet, for the reasons other people have mentioned. Certainly, 40s looks a bit too big.

My two AP bets were Tiger Roll (of course!) and Elegant Escape, and I’ve also had something on Kimerlite Candy and Total Recall.

Let’s hope they all come home safe and sound.

Before I give my modified three day line up, I’d like to see which Ryanair winner would have been Champion Chase or Gold Cup winner in the year they won the Ryanair.

Because if you think Imperial Commander would have beaten Kauto Star in 2009, or that Cue Card would have beaten the MEGABEAST in 2013, or that Vautour wouldn’t have run out of puff (having been chinned on the line in the King George) in 2017, then you are quite clearly on drugs.

It seems like Master Minded is a real forgotten horse – it’s a shame he went off the boil over two miles, and it’s also a shame that he never got the chance to show what he could do over three miles.

I’d put Sizing Europe over Douvan, too.

Regardless, it is clear to all who have eyes to see that The MEGABEAST would crush his foolhardy rivals underfoot, smiting them hip and thigh with a dominating display of destructitude. Let all tongues profess and let no man dare gainsay – even the mighty Altior cannot begin to compare with the sheer annihilatory majesterial might of The MEGABEAST.
