Biggest Jumps Race of The Summer, and a typically strong entry……

Don’t really know where to start, but my long term fancies for this, Galvin and Early Doors, are both near the head of the market, and justifiably so.
Galvin finally got it right last time, for all it was a race he should have been winning, while this has looked tailor made for Early Doors for some time now. Hard to find too many negatives for either of them, and both look well treated.
I’ll almost certainly be covering the pair of them, and got a decision to make as to whether it’ll be now or after Final Decs.
There are others who appeal though.
Snugsborough Benny will have been laid out for this, and should be challenging for a place at least, while Spyglass Hill is a horse I’ve got high hopes for this season, and I thought he might be more of a dark one, but he’s in at 12’s.
Gigginstown always have a strong hand here, and for as much as I’ve always liked Mortal, I can’t help think that Sub Lieutenant might just be their #1. He ticks loads of boxes for me, and he’s high on the shortlist. I was hoping for more than 16’s mind.
Despite having the market leader with Easy Game, at 25’s, I think Willie Mullins has a very interesting one in Livelovelaugh. He looks as good as ever, and definitely has a big one in him. Real favourite of mine.
Last but not least for now, is Jett. He’s still with Jessica Harrington, but interestingly, now runs for Robert Waley-Cohen. That screams a campaign towards Aintree. That might be too simplistic though, and they’d do well to get him too far down from his current mark of 158. I just give him a squeak here, and despite being top weight, I keep coming back to him. He’s a big price.
No play yet, but I’ll definitely have an Antepost bet here.
Shortlist
Galvin 10’s
Early Doors 11’s
Sub Lieutenant 16’s
Jett 25’sJuly 22, 2020 at 19:08 #1494700Jett confirmed as heading here by Jessica Harrington, so I’ll definitely have a small early play on him, just in case the odds tumble. To be fair, I don’t see that happening. That would be ideal, as I’d rather be betting him 20’s+ with six places to play with.
Still undecided with the other three.
Jett 25’s
July 24, 2020 at 08:17 #1494811Galvin 7-1 ew.
July 25, 2020 at 16:52 #1495021Decided to take the 10’s for Early Doors just now.
I’ve got a niggling feeling that he might be a surprise absentee, but if he does line up, no way he goes off that price.
I could see him being quite short, in which case I’d lay off before the start.
Edit, topped up 12’s
Early Doors 12’s
Jett 25’sJuly 27, 2020 at 09:54 #1495184Royal Rendezvous appeals to me as a previous course winner and unexposed chaser.
July 27, 2020 at 10:29 #1495187Royal Rendezvous would be my early pick for the same reasons and I think he may be better right handed too. I’m holding off in the hope that Townend picks Easy Game and I might get a decent price.
Will prob back Robin as usual but he’s hardly going to shorten drastically, might have an ew go on The West’s Awake too.
July 27, 2020 at 11:37 #1495197No shock omissions at Final Decs, with Everlastingpromise the shortest priced defector.
It’s a very strong line up, should be a cracker.
I’ll add Sub Lieutenant now that he’s declared, but I’ll watch the market, and if the price of Jett holds, I’ll be delighted, as it’ll make the difference with Max Places.
Been very hard to desert Galvin, been touting him since his early days, but I’ll still be chuffed for him if he does it, he’s a smashing horse, and I’d rather miss him when he’s fav, rather than a bigger price.
Winter Escape is another I’ve followed for a few years, put him up several times, and if he’s in good nick, he’s one who could outrun his odds at this trip, while Spyglass Hill is a horse I’ll be following closely this year.
If I could get a lay into Early Doors before the off, I could easily put some of it the way of that trio.
Early Doors 12’s
Sub Lieutenant
Jett 25’sJuly 27, 2020 at 12:00 #1495202Guys, Royal Rendezvous the first to go blue on Oddschecker.
Just in case you weren’t on yet, thought it worth mentioning.
July 27, 2020 at 13:35 #1495219aaaand Townend has chosen him . Huh.
Agree Winter Escape is interesting- he ran a very nice race to win over fences here a couple of seasons ago- beating the Mullins favourite and also Galway fan Portmore Lough and subsequently beat A Plus Tard before the wheels came off. Hasn’t been the same since he bled but back with original trainer now.
Then there’s Blazer..as soon as I desert him he’ll pop up won’t he?
July 27, 2020 at 22:46 #1495290Patrick cant do 10,12 can he? Is that not partly why pauls on royal rendezvous? Both a live chance and its probably a coin toss between them, lets patrick get the leg up in the race ?
July 28, 2020 at 21:18 #1495438Yeah Grass, Winter Escape definitely interesting, and if Early Doors just came down a few points, I might move some of my stakes about.
Haven’t bet Sub Lieutenant yet, but even with the big drift on him, it’s still a tricky decision.
July 28, 2020 at 21:38 #1495439Sounds as though the going will be soft by tomorrow. Will that affect Jett? He’s one of my cliff horses.
July 28, 2020 at 23:38 #1495460Been wondering what they’ve been up to with Early Doors for sometime. Perhaps this is finally it, and he’s very well in if so.
I’ll probably back him now even though, you just couldn’t be certain how he’ll cope with a test like this.
The other i’ll bet is Spyglass Hill- he’s got some very useful novice chase form. Possibly that leaves him with a little less in hand with the handicapper, but you;d think he’s still unexposed surely. Trainer’s won 2 in recent times and he’ll handle any softened going.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 28, 2020 at 23:44 #1495462Keen on Galvin, but the price has gone now. Shifted my attention over to Livelovelaugh (22s to 6 places was the price I got) who is a better horse at the intermediate trip for me. Has winning form on heavy at least, hence why I picked him over Peregrine Run who has great form claims but probably had his chance completely stuffed by the forecast.
July 29, 2020 at 01:13 #1495471Good luck with Livelovelaugh, bet him many a time, and he’s more than capable of landing this.
July 29, 2020 at 01:14 #1495472Jack, very much my line of thinking with Early Doors, it’s all down to how good I think he is, hence he’s chucked in, but on the other hand…….is he going to enjoy it?
July 29, 2020 at 01:23 #1495473Moe, the rains probably not ideal, but i think he’s still more than capable of getting in the six here…….got to be vulnerable to a few of them though.
