Galvins extremely short for me, really like him but ill sit him out, easy game doesnt have much in hand it looks like on his leopardstown run, still early in his chasing days, could improve but doesnt scream out as if hes a 160+ lurking in the 50s, dont understand the price on early doors, wouldnt back him at 10x the price he is.
As much as im negative in easy game if something like Him or peregrine run were to run there rating theyll probably win, largely a poor field.
Will take a few e/w’s on rotten outsiders, just looks that race.
Cabaret queen @33/1 & dinons @33/1 Was a toss up between them and sub lieutenant
July 29, 2020 at 11:18 #1495499The three I like here are
Royal Rendezvous
Spyglass Hill
MortalLet’s hope one of them can do the biz.
BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social
So don't run, just like the others always do
July 29, 2020 at 11:36 #1495501Ham I’m not sure how you price things up but how you wouldn’t back Early Doors at 110-1 is interesting. Prone to an exaggeration lol?
According to the weather, heavy rain all day won’t be helping Dinons anyway!
With the rain coming I could see Cap York running a reasonably big one.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 29, 2020 at 12:25 #1495513Is the rain due ? Will need to keep that in mind.
Not prone to an exaggeration atall, i wouldnt back him if he was 100/1 in this race, not saying id lay that but ill be laying him today. id back most of the bottom half of the field before him everyday of the week
In my opinion his formline through horses like dandy mag/ yaha fizz/ euro bot/ smoking gun/ masseys wood all in different races make him no better than a 135 horse at best on his day,hes off higher than that today, hes 7 so yes could improve, but i doubt it based on breeding. wouldnt consider him until he shown that, judging by his breeding he wont. hes by a sire who does not have a great record over jumps in general but has had a few decent hurdlers but even at that early doors is his best ever horse, tend to prefer better ground in general. Dam hasnt produced much either
Yeah theres absolutely 0 to like about what the horse has done bar 1 Or 2 runs in cheltenham. Nothing i see suggests he should be the price he is, id have him almost at the bottom.
Anomalies happen but ill stick my kneck out and say he wont be any better than mid div at best
So yeah, 100/1 i wouldnt touch him… not to say no one else shouldnt… ill take your £ today on betfair @ single digits
July 29, 2020 at 12:40 #1495517I went with Galvin here last week + he’s my chief fancy.
As it’s The Galway Plate, I think I can stretch to 3. I have also added Spyglass Hill 11-1, + Cabaret Queen 40-1 ew with 6 places.
Good luck everyone
July 29, 2020 at 13:16 #1495525I was going to do Spyglass Hill as a second choice but the yard are out of firm. Big yards out of form is a major negative for me but less important if a small yard or target trainer.
July 29, 2020 at 13:21 #1495527There’s a fair bit of rain like 7-9mms
His hurdle backform and the way he’s been campaigned over fences is the reason for his price.
Won’t be taking any single digits when he’s double figures

He might well not win, but he’s got plenty of ability and has plenty of form on softer going.
The sire hasn’t that many horses on the ground either due to only coming back to Ireland in 2016..Twitter: Jackh1092
Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 29, 2020 at 13:29 #1495529Mark, I share your concerns with stable form, and that was enough for me to put a line through Spyglass Hill. I did like him as well.
Galvin is the main one for me now, I’m not really wanting to look at anything else, but the switch back to his former stable is noted for Winter Escape, and I will go with him 6 Places each way.
July 29, 2020 at 13:31 #1495532Rain due but noting on twitter some people from Galway saying only spitting now…

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 29, 2020 at 13:57 #1495536A valuable 22 runner handicap and 18 of the runners are trained by Mullins, Elliott, De Bromhead, O’Brien, Harrington and Meade (and the latter two with just one each).
All very good trainers who have worked hard for their success but it must be really difficult to be a jumps trainer in Ireland now outside of these six.
And with tough economic times around the corner, how many small trainers will still be training this time next year?
July 29, 2020 at 14:22 #1495545Galvin on the nose for me, and also for the win, Three Musketeers, who I think on his Kilbeggan run, is a huge price at 16-1.
July 29, 2020 at 14:33 #1495546Galvin out, bruised foot
July 29, 2020 at 16:12 #1495575Gutted. Switched to Royal Rendezvous ew 6 places.
July 29, 2020 at 16:31 #1495581The Storyteller makes some more appeal since Davy Russell switched. 18-1 is worth a try, while I think that Us and Them is looking like a forgotten horse here at 22-1.
I’ll stick with that pair, both each way 6 places.
July 29, 2020 at 16:56 #1495590I’m so disappointed to see that Galvin is out.
I have decided to go with Three Musketeers as his replacement at 14-1.
July 29, 2020 at 17:06 #1495596Good luck Mark with The Storyteller, he’s definitely a different proposition now.
Him or Winter Escape winning will be tough viewing for me, if they’re in contention, I think I’ll buckle lol
July 29, 2020 at 18:18 #1495606What an interesting race for a summer evening.
Perigrine Run
The Storyteller
Us and Them
Sub Lieutenant
For the tiniest of combination tricasts!
Gordon Elliot and Henry De Bromhead have won this race for the last five years.
