I could be well off the mark with 150 but I am sure I read that somewhere in the last week. When Vincent was the boss it was always a fairly select team-much smaller numbers.
I think its about 150.
Mastercraftsman who was as short as 5/2 on Sunday morning was 6.6 on betfair just before the off-the drift didn’t stop him winning.
The RP got itself together when the Sportsman was on the horizon but reverted to being average when the threat disappeared.
I have have also seen fairly valuable sleepers where the staff have been instructed not to inform the customer.
When Ladbrokes opened close to where I live in 1988 the settler was a lovely woman but didn’t have a clue. Her main failing was that she thought a draw in a football match had the effect of making the bet a non runner. She also coudn’t work out a placepot perm to save her life. All price changes were by phone or on teletext.
I was a student at the time and many a Saturday was financed by dodgy bets. The whole idea was to take a few quid here and there.
Just after I went to London in 92 Paddy Power were establishing themselves at the time and all prices and changes were by fax and phone. The Olympics were on and for one of the sprint events it said bets must be on by a certain time.Problem was race took place an hour earlier. My mates watched the race in a nearby pub and then casually had as much money as they could lay their hands on the winner. They got paid out .
Happy days.In Hala Bek, he may have a horse to bring a bit of the glory back.
Hala Bek has a long way to go to be winning Group 1’s.
July 8, 2008 at 23:16 in reply to: dickie le davoir.won today 16/1 but was last but one on sat #172389If you cant accept the likes of that happening you really shouldn’t be gambling.
On the evidence of his last run Dragon Dancer has no place in Group races.
why was Curtain call moved from Jess harington? new owner?
More or less the same owners-I am fairly sure Harrington is involved in the syndicate-Cumani definitely has a share. They wanted to give the horse best possible chance of winning a Group 1.
Anyone still in the Washington Irving fan club.
El Gran Senor-the form of that race was amazing.
Sizing Europe would have won me the price of a new car in this years Champion-when he nudged Katchit it should have been lights out for Kings horse.I have a lot of admiration for the way Katchit battled that day.
In all fairness some of the points on this thread have been ridiculous-especially the dismissal of Al Eile,Hardy Eustace and Brave Inca.Katchit was a worthy winner this year-I honestly think we will have to see how he does next year before calling him a great champion.Great read.
His run on the Thursday of Aintree wasn’t below par.The horse is no world beater and if he was mine he would definitely be running tomorrow.
Today’s tips are not on the website but the following have been posted on the BF forum so I would appreciate it if somebody confirm that they are correct:
3.25 The Corby Glenn 2pts
3.45 Nortburn 1pt
5.15 Heavenly Blues 1ptno prices (which seems a bit unusual and contrary to the whole Pricewise ethos I would have thought)
I found that confusing at first but I think its just a Tom Segal tipping column on Sunday as opposed to pricewise.
I can offer one piece of wisdom about American racing -money talks.Have a look at the betfair market a couple of minutes before the off and occasionally it is possible to lay horses at a smaller price then the projected tote dividend. The initial reaction is that this must be a value lay but the reality is that a lot of the money on betfair is fairly hot and some of the bigger punters know they will distort the dividends if they bet directly into the pmu.
