He has a very good record with tracks that are Uphill such as Leicester, Hamilton, Pontefract but can’t explain the 11 lengths defeat last time out after running of a win but then they put him up a further step in class to 3 and it romps home.

Don’t really know what to say…….

Timeform said he was up against it after missing the break.

It is dangerous to base a decision on only the last race, any horse can have an off day.

If you cant accept the likes of that happening you really shouldn’t be gambling.

Personally, I think DT has a point.
Why should we accept a horse running around 2 stone less than its recent best, and then coming out 3 days later and running a new personal best without any apparent explanation? There has to be a reason for such a turnaround, so why was none asked for, or proferred?
If we are to accept this as a kind of norm, then we might as well bet at Portman Park.

Was any explanation offered for the poor run at Leicester?

As I understand it connections are obliged to report any reason they feel there may have been for that poor run.

I would see no harm in the stewards asking about the improvement in the short period, in fact, it would be almost remiss of them not too.

There may be a perfectly good reason but it would be nice to know, wouldn’t it?!

Reports on why horses rad baly are given at:

    http://www.britishhorseracing.com/insid … nbadly.asp

No mention of Dickie Le Davoir at Leicester on July 5th, which surprises me. Might be worth watching the page when yesterday’s entries come up to see if there are any comments.

The ‘Why they ran badly’ page is a mine of information,…..and excuses(!), and worth a read if a performance seems mystifying. There’s also a section covering ‘Stewards Enquries’.

    Cheers, Paul.

Thanks, Rob, I’ve bookmarked that page.
