    Evening all.

I am amazed that you can get some 13/8 about Vazirabad winning the Nad Al Sheba trophy. Dont get me wrong there are some decent horses in the race but this fella is a machine

    – In 19 starts hes only finished out of the top two, twice!
    – Hes two out of three at Meydan.
    – He was placed second in this race last year to a lovely horse called Beautiful Romanace (not to get confused with Memory ;-)). He later reversed that form on World Cup night.
    – Hes a consisent Group one performer.
    – Regular pilot Christophe S is booked to ride.

    Sold yet?

I appreciate that it will be his first race for some time and he may be a bit rusty but im guessing thats factored into his price. He stays all day but can sometimes switch off when he sits at the back (a great example being WC night last year) off the pace.

Not much fun in tipping a fav but if I was a bookie id have him odds on, probably 10/11 5/6.
    ***************************************
Not much else to get excited about on the rest of the card. Zaman and Winter Lightning should both win. Dont Give Up is fairly solid but I do think Oisin will win on Albaster soon enough. The first Arab race looks good again. Id say Paddys Day should win at 2/1.

Good luck all and hope everyone grabs a few winners pre Cheltenham, World Cup Night and when the exciting flat returns!

A very difficult card to assess today. I can understand the case and love for Blue Point, he delivered for me on Sagaro day at Ascot but I just think Ertijaal will be too quick and nimble over 5f for him. 5/2 is a fair and tempting price. If it was 6f id say BP would have his number.

Later on in the card I really like Folkswood, if he can recapture his old form. A nice trip to Aus before here has surely done him the world of good.

As I said, theres no real betting angle of major confidence from me so I will have a little Yankee for fun but in the meantime my selections below:

    14.30 Ertijaal
    15.05 Secret Ambition
    15.40 Kimbear
    16.15 Folkswood
    16.50 Dream Castle
    17.25 Footbridge
    18.00 Gold Star

Looking back…I think I may have a soft spot for the boys in blue!

Good luck all….bring home the bacon! :good:

I agree. Tom Marquand is a brilliant jockey, I just feel that whenever Soumillon gets beaten on a fav (Mountain Hunter) he normally wins the following race – thats pretty much why I went with Top Score. Haha.

I feel mightly lucky that my double came in!!! Not so sure it was a Promising Run in the end but Pat C got the job done in the end.

As a big Godolphin fan ill be having Blair House and Top Score in the last two.

    Good luck guys :good:

Well played winners – good day all round. Should have listened to you guys with POA, as Natural Scenery was the last leg of my Yankee. NM still a good day and nice returns.

Will keep it short and sweet again:

    2.30 Paddys Day (Hills 13/8 – PP 4/6)
    3.05 Best Solution (NAP)
    3.40 Albaster (NB)
    4.15 Dutch Masterpiece
    4.50 Gold Town
    5.25 Natural Scenery
    6.00 Suyoof

Boring backing favs I know but some of these should go in.

Good luck everyone but I dont think we’ll be getting rich on this card!!!

Librisa has a chance I’d say but if you refer to my earlier thread (right at the beginning) Battaash wont show up, Ertijaal is better at 5f and therefore Harry A can easily mop this prize up on rattling fast ground (as lomg as they dont have the thunderstorms this year!). However I dont think thats part of their plans, even though they can quickly get back the money back they paid for the horse.

……and that is also why Im just a punter haha :yahoo:

Another somewhat dissapointing card with small runner fields but all gearing towards World Cup day I suppose!

I personally have had two bets today:

15.40 Sea Skimmer 12/1 each way
    16.15 Gold Town 5/4

I do also like the look of Rembrandt Van Rijn is the 15.05 but the 7/1 has all dried up so I think that will be a watching race for me.

    Good luck guys and girls!

This was a cracking meeting with different winning owners and trainers across the card which is great to see.

Unfortunately xmas excursions held me back from having a proper play here.

I managed to get above evens for Ertijaal so that was the only bet I had.

Hes an absolute machine (JC referred to him last year as an aeroplane) over the minimum but as I said earlier on in the thread…i dont feel he is as effective over 6.

I went to back Dbai at 15/2 but the odds were gone quickly and thought id leave that one…..oops!

Heavy Metal, Benbatl and Dbai were seriously impressive. Im also relatively happy with Thunder Snows first run back. Hopefully hell improve for that effort.

Cracking racing and I would STRONGLY recommend if you havent been to Meydan before to go – its incredible.

Absolutely love the carnival and World Cup. Ive luckily had the opportunity to go the last three years but this will be the first one I miss :-(.

I personally think I will take a back seat this week as a lot of these horses make their first runs.

I really like Thunder Snow and understand the main target is the World Cup itself. TS ran an absolute blinder here in the UAE Derby last March and hope he can win the big one. I do however feel he may just need the run on Thursday to blow the cobwebs away and agree with my good friend SC that his odds are skinny enough. Moreover, Im also on at 25/1 ew for the DWC so happy to look foolish if he romps home in a canter.

You may or may not remember but I put up Mubtaahij as an ew bet for the DWC last year, where he came home in 4th (behind Arrogate, Gun Runner and Neolithic). Again, due to the uncertainty of who will line up i think he is smashing odds @25/1 ew, now teamed up with Bob Bafert. Unless retired I think he will be targetted at this for his third attempt (hes unfortunately ran into some machines in the past – California Chrome and Arrogate).

Finally, and I have nothing to back this up whatsoever, but i feel Harry Angel could and should turn up for the Al Quoz Turf Sprint.

Currently Battaash (6/4) is fav in the betting but with his temperament issues im not sure he’ll bother going to Dubai. After his York experience its clear he doesnt like crowds and loud noise. Well if youve ever been to Meydan you know thats what they serve in abundance and I really cant see Charlie risking him on that basis.

Second favourite is local horse Ertijaal (9/2) and thats understandable on the basis he holds the track record over 5f and 6f, moreover hes much more effective over 5f. The Turf sprint was increased to 6f last year. Hes great each way value but not sure he will see out the full 6f.

Therefore I feel Harry A is destined for this race, although i cant see any odds for him, or references to this even being on his radar.

Godolphin havent won this race since the first running back in 2007 and Im sure His Highness Sheikh Mohammed would love to conquer this with one of his recent acquisitions. The prize money on offer would easily pay back the sum the boys in blue paid, no doubt.

They normally throw big horses at these races (Ribchester and Jack Hobbs last year) and I therefore would be willing to take an ante post punt on Harry A turning up and winning the sprint.

Anyone that can find me a price I will love them forever!

Anyway its late and I need my sleep so apologies for all the waffle!

Happy punting and enjoy what is fantastic international horse racing.

Faugheen wins this by whatever he decides. Don’t overreact to mullins stable form. Today for example caro de flos never won a race before today, ballyward only back from an injury having first run over hurdles. Yesterday bacardys just made one mistake. Nichols canyon obviously fell but Bapaume and Augusta Kate ran very good races behind apples jade, djakadam and yorkhill were never going to win either way. Min was unlucky and we all talk about the bounce factor in second runs after a injury break. Footpad was electric, sympa de flos was brilliant at Limerick, cut the mustard returned abnormal post race, pause and ponder lost a shoe and finished lame. He was going to have a 1-2-3 in the grade one novice only for the bad luck at the last, had a very nice maiden winner on day one. Overall I think it was more bad luck than bad form. I have every confidence in faugheen and cilaos emery will probably come second.

Great post and couldnt agree more. He’s just had back-to-back winners, hopefully topped off by Faugheen on the bridle.

I for one can understand punters being wary of Harry but I must admit to being surprised by the negativity in the market this week. A general 13/8 at the start of the week and now a fiendishly weak 15/8.

I know he got turned over at Newbury but on form he’s got the beating of this lot all day long. I know L’ami Serge is a bit of an unknown but I think 15/8 is worth taking and if he’s anything above 13/8 on the day go in again.

I agree with you 100%. Seems big odds (15/8) for such a quality horse. Heres hoping :good:

    Well done Fellow Rekindling backers.

The guy on the video stood to win 1 million dollars if he picked the winner with a Bookies promo.

Thats brilliant Botchy, imagine what his heart rate must have been!

Knowing the bookies its probably in free bets as opposed to cash haha
