Absolutely love the carnival and World Cup. Ive luckily had the opportunity to go the last three years but this will be the first one I miss :-(.

I personally think I will take a back seat this week as a lot of these horses make their first runs.

I really like Thunder Snow and understand the main target is the World Cup itself. TS ran an absolute blinder here in the UAE Derby last March and hope he can win the big one. I do however feel he may just need the run on Thursday to blow the cobwebs away and agree with my good friend SC that his odds are skinny enough. Moreover, Im also on at 25/1 ew for the DWC so happy to look foolish if he romps home in a canter.

You may or may not remember but I put up Mubtaahij as an ew bet for the DWC last year, where he came home in 4th (behind Arrogate, Gun Runner and Neolithic). Again, due to the uncertainty of who will line up i think he is smashing odds @25/1 ew, now teamed up with Bob Bafert. Unless retired I think he will be targetted at this for his third attempt (hes unfortunately ran into some machines in the past – California Chrome and Arrogate).

Finally, and I have nothing to back this up whatsoever, but i feel Harry Angel could and should turn up for the Al Quoz Turf Sprint.

Currently Battaash (6/4) is fav in the betting but with his temperament issues im not sure he’ll bother going to Dubai. After his York experience its clear he doesnt like crowds and loud noise. Well if youve ever been to Meydan you know thats what they serve in abundance and I really cant see Charlie risking him on that basis.

Second favourite is local horse Ertijaal (9/2) and thats understandable on the basis he holds the track record over 5f and 6f, moreover hes much more effective over 5f. The Turf sprint was increased to 6f last year. Hes great each way value but not sure he will see out the full 6f.

Therefore I feel Harry A is destined for this race, although i cant see any odds for him, or references to this even being on his radar.

Godolphin havent won this race since the first running back in 2007 and Im sure His Highness Sheikh Mohammed would love to conquer this with one of his recent acquisitions. The prize money on offer would easily pay back the sum the boys in blue paid, no doubt.

They normally throw big horses at these races (Ribchester and Jack Hobbs last year) and I therefore would be willing to take an ante post punt on Harry A turning up and winning the sprint.

Anyone that can find me a price I will love them forever!

Anyway its late and I need my sleep so apologies for all the waffle!

Happy punting and enjoy what is fantastic international horse racing.

    :good:

some prices are out for tomorrow and up on oddschecker.Right the sprint(3.05),obviously Ertijaal deserves to be fav and will probably take the world of beating but at odds on (best 10/11) not my idea of trying to get the Christmas ex’s back.Because of this price I wont be playing, but maybe one who will give you a decent run for your money(was in great form here last season) is Final Venture surely the 8s available with 365 is a touch big.

Be interesting as a watching brief how Waady performs

As a little moan has anyone noticed the RP website don’t show CD,C,D anymore or are my eyes playing tricks on me

the nine furlong G3 contest is the next I shall wave my pin over. Benbatl will be on many slips in multi’s etc,I can see why with his win in the Hampton looking decent, for me though I am going for a few pennies ew on a couple of double digit selections. The slight problem for the selection could well be the high draws they both have, but at the prices I am willing to take a chance

Firstly Light Of Lights (CD) could out run his price of 10s and hopefully will at least pick up the place money, while the next is way out the ball park, will probably be beat half the track. Again drawn high Sharpalo @ 66s is worth chucking a few bob at ew. I think he is being underestimated and since returning to turf has not done to much wrong, the 9f could well suit

very tricky 7f handicap next so will keep it short and sweet.I hope there will be enough pace in the race(should be ok with the likes of Salateen) for Bravo Zolo to edge across from his wide draw and win at Meydan again 7s(ew) is around

finally on the card(6.00) at first glance I really like the look of Walton Street. I do have a concern though will he be ‘grown’ up enough to win this( can get 3s) I have no problem with the drop in trip but for me he still looked a big baby when beat at goodwood, would not put anyone off he they went in.

At the prices again ew I will be having a few pennies on Rembrandt Van Rijn (16s WH)
Good luck whatever you play cant wait

    btw for Jac

Well well well, I have given myself licence to spend far too much on this card. It’s great to have some flat racing back in my life so I’ll just get it out of my system. I won’t bother with dissecting the form too much on here, I will just give a small piece on the selection

340 – My good friend Frankyfourfingers is still knocking about and showed himself in good heart on his re-appearance at Jebel Ali. It was a tidy performance over a mile giving weight and its hard to gauge why this will be the first time he has raced at this distance since his group 2 victory way back in Feb 2015. He beat non other than Prince Bishop that day who just over a month later won the World Cup. Franky wasn’t at his best last year but rounded off his campaign with a very respectable 2nd to Heavy Metal over a mile and I hope he continues to show that old spark throughout this Carnival. 4/1

415 – I tried hard to leave this race alone but Royal Ascot victor Benbatl reeled me in with some classy pieces on form on offer from his 3 year old campaign. 9 furlongs looks like it should suit on all known form and its easy to forgive his last run of the year on heavy ground over a trip too short. He led a furlong out in the Dante, led a furlong out at Royal Ascot, a very respectable 5th in the Derby and could be a very good 4 year old. Strangely enough, Oisin Murphy only has the two rides booked and this is the only one for Saeed Bin Suroor. Fitness taken on trust. 9/4

450 – Couldn’t have Thunder Snow at 11/8. North America ran 2 seconds faster on the same card last year February 11th and at level weights I feel the Godolphin colt will need to progress a fair bit to beat the selection who returns fresh and still lightly raced for his age. He won as he liked on his comeback run in 2016 leading into 2017 and although that was a nothing contest compared to this, it just proves to me that he is fine with being ready first time up. He progressed and impressed throughout the carnival and suffered his only loss when way back in the group 2 godolphin mile on a wet, muddy surface. A fit Heavy Metal from stall 2 looks the biggest danger (was beaten twice by NA last year) and may be a saver selection. 5/2 North America

525 – The Mike De Kock inmates Suyoof and Noah From Goah look fair game, 7/1 and 10/1 respectively, on all known form so 2 singles and a rev forecast will do.

600 – Best Solution is giving plenty of weight to the likes of Walton Street but has form on the table to win a race like this off his mark. I feel he is being aimed at the group 2 12f contest on Super Saturday (won by stablemate Prize Money last year) and I don’t see much point in heading that way if he can’t be ultra competitive here. He’s a very fair price as well. 8/1

Good luck with your selections everyone, someones gotta get it right 😉

Some good informative posts here and good luck for tomorrow. :good:

Having burnt my fingers last Thursday I’m going in again with four of the races and some big price each ways in the 5.25.

In the 4.15 I have gone for CAPE BYRON .. lightly raced and Roger Varian has Andrea Atzeni on board. Won on the soft at Ascot and should appreciate the extra furlong.

    4.50
    ..THUNDER SNOW
    (Banker)

Can’t leave out Yattwee in the 5.25 at 20/1 each way and another I can’t leave out is Salateen also 20/1, David Meara is very lucky at stealing this type of race. :good:
But my main bet goes to KEYSTROKE he was unlucky not to finish in front of Second Thought last time out finishing with a wet sail from way off the pace and will love conditions here.

    6.00...BEST SOLUTION
For all the reasons given by Chivers above. Can’t believe he will go off 8/1.
Each Way stakePrize Money..who loves it here.

    Best Solution
    Prize Money

    Reverse Forecast

Good luck everyone, it’s so nice to be talking flat racing again, let’s hope we can all make a small profit.

    3.05 Meydan
Been looking for one to take on course specialist Ertijaal so, with fingers crossed, going with DANZENO (each way) he always runs his best race fresh but I’d like to see him get a flying start today as he can sometimes miss the break and end up giving himself a lot to do.
Silvestre De Sousa up who rode him to victory at Ascot last July.

    Danzeno -Each Way

    Reverse Forecast:
    Danzeno
    Ertijaal

Looks a good card, enjoy the racing.

Best Solution was big enough at 8/1, based on keeping strong company, including the Derby. He won the Lingfield Derby trial and 2 Gp3 contests.

I couldn’t shake the fact that he ran appallingly at the track last year though and he is giving weight to potential improvers on a faster surface than may suit. I decided not to play, with Walton Street way shorter than I expected.

    Good luck to all.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Eritijal was always in command but Hit The Bid ran a great race and gave him something to race against.
Danzeno out with the washing unfortunately 🙁 but hey still 5 more races to go and the best horse won.
