good performance by front two Jac must have nearly 4L clear of the 3rd,Final Venture fell into the frame in 4th,but could never go with Ertijaal
January 11, 2018 at 15:28 #1336867No Jac,I thought I was only playing for the place money, couldn’t back Ertijaal at odds on and just put up my thoughts for the ew selection.
Great to have the flat back though

January 11, 2018 at 15:59 #1336869I have had one bet so far CARRY ON DERYCK at 9/1 in the 4.15 . Has won here before and like the jockey booking of Mosse!!

Walton Streetfor (very) small stake win perms and an acca.
It’ll all be for nothing though, as Midnight Chica will romp the last lol
PS still doesn’t feel right discussing the flat in January, Royal Ascot is still six months away, I’m away to bump The National thread lol

January 11, 2018 at 16:23 #1336878Ertijaal ran better than I expected, been off 300+ days so was entitled to be fresh and carrying a fair bit more weight than the rest.
I’m with Jac on Thunder Snow, fingers crossed….

January 11, 2018 at 18:12 #1336906Nice one Steve with Heavy Metal trouncing Thunder Snow, hope you got on at a decent price.
Well done Chivers, Raymo, N and Vtc with D’bai in the tricky 5.25.
Same as last week for me a complete whitewash.
I need to get back to Newmarket..LOLThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 11, 2018 at 18:14 #1336907well done everyone
January 11, 2018 at 18:44 #1336916Excellent card on offer today, well done to all for getting involved and I hope we continue to put our foot forward throughout the carnival.
I was hoping Ertijaal might have been weak at some point in the betting but it never happened and I just don’t like backing anything under even money.
Good old boy Frankie showed that Salem Bin Ghadayer and Mikael Barzalona are in fine fettle as a team along with group 2 winner Heavy Metal. That was my one regret today, not backing equal parts Heavy Metal and equal parts North America. Instead HM just softened it to a small loss.Benbatl looked a class apart and will likely be short enough now for the group 1 on super Saturday as the big guns don’t usually turn up till World Cup night.
Best Solution ran as well as I could hope, giving 7lbs to the winner and will come on for that effort.
D’bai was the surprise package today, I wasn’t expecting him to do that at all.One horse I was hoping we might see on Super Saturday is the John Gosden gelding Monarchs Glen. He’s the sort that looks like he would really suit the Meydan 9f turf.
I was about to say I can’t remember the last time I saw a Khalid Abdullah horse run at Meydan and then I worked very hard to think back all the way to last years World cup victor
January 11, 2018 at 21:01 #1336936Glad to see this thread is popular. Meydan gets better every year and this year should be very exciting if today was anything to go by. I was particularly pleased to see Benbatl win so well as he represented last years classic form and was last season beaten by two of my favourites Orderofthegarter and Cracksman. He obviously had the form to win that race but even so, did it well. Plenty more to come I hope….
