Well played Rekindling backers. Good to see Joseph O Brien as the winning training as well at 24!Incredible!

Maybe in a few years time he will be trying to break his dads Group 1 record!

Damn; change of jockey for Thomas Hobson [not sure what has happened] and he’s now drifting.

The Magic Man fell is race four and has been stood down for the rest of the day. Ben Allen takes the ride on Thomas Hobson now.

You could argue that Degaussed but I wouldn’t agree with it. Churchill hasn’t really disgraced himself at all this year. He wasn’t a million miles away at Royal Ascot when below form and was only downed by Ulysses at York before a troubled passage at Leopardstown and a very fair showing in the QE2. Forgive him today as it was on dirt and I wish him a sound and lengthy second career. As for Arrogate you could argue that if Baffert knew the horse didn’t come back the same from Dubai he should have told the owners to pull up stumps but I am in no position to know what goes on inside that stable.

I dont know what to make of Arrogate to be honest. His last run, where he ran down Collected, wasnt all that bad, whereas today and the Pacific he didnt want to know. From a friend in the US, who I met in Dubai, his morning work over the last two weeks had been scintillating. Its no doubt one we will never get to the bottom of.

As I said before, well played Gun Runner backers. He won very nicely.

Fair play Gun Runner….won that with a fair bit in hand. I was fairly confident that Arrogate was going to run a good race but as soon as he broke left it all fell apart.

Its so strange because as I said before, what I witnessed in Dubai was something abnormal but this looks a completely different horse. Even in all his prework he looked a million dollars. Such a shame for the sport but hopefully now he sires fellow champions.

Well done to those on winning tickets. I personally am happy to see the end of Del Mar….roll on BC 2018.

    21:00 –

There’s been a lot of talk about the importance of a low draw at Del Mar, but early pace is just as – if not more – important, and AVENGE looks to have enough pace out of the gates to overcome being drawn in #12. She ran a screamer in this race last year, when doing most of the donkey-work at the front and setting a fast pace in doing so, before being collared late on by Lady Eli and Queen’s Trust to finish third by a length. The drop in trip, from 10 furlongs to 9, should suit Avenge in that regard. She also doesn’t need to lead, but as there is plenty of pace drawn low and little next to Avenge, she should get every chance to get a good position despite the draw. She’s partnered once again by Flavien Prat, who rides this course brilliantly – he’s already had three winners from seven rides at this meeting. She’s come in here lightly raced this season, leading me to believe this has long been a target, and with an impressive win last time out under her.

Avenge 1 point win at 21.00 w/ Betfair

Nice write up Degaussed and good luck. Its also worth noting that Prat took out the last race too yesterday (albeit early Saturday morning for us UK folks) bringing him to 4 winners up on the day. Seemingly the man to be with :good:

Having already backed James Garfield at 7/1 for the Juvenile Turf tonight I’ve decided to have a few runners for me in the other 3 Breeders Cup races tonight. I’m really keen on Rushing Fall to overturn the heavily tried Happily in the Juvenile Fillies Turf and have gone in on her at 4/1 for my biggest bet of the evening. In the Dirt Mile I’ve backed Battle Of Midway each-way at 16/1 hoping his stamina will come into play. And in the Distaff, I know there have been speculated negatives against her but I think Steller Wind represents value at 7/2 and have nibbled at that to keep me up late.

Good luck all with their varied selections tonight.

Loving the Breeders Cup this year. :yahoo:

Any chance of those lottery numbers pal?

Haha well played. I had Rushing Fall but Sharp Azteca in the last. Ive got both James Garfield and Masar ew in the next and am also on Stellar Wind

    Good luck :good:

I have been meaning to post on here about the BC, and specifically Arrogate, for months but have been sidetracked by work. Moreover here is my two pence, for what its worth…..

I personally am unconvinced by the Gun Runner hype/price and thats mainly because I was fortunate enough to be at the Dubai World Cup.

I know the saying goes that you are only as good as your last run but in that DWC, Arrogate missed the break completely, was tailed off at the back of the field (by about 15 lengths), yet still managed to beat Gun Runner by a comfortable 2 and a quarter lengths. I couldnt believe what I was seeing in front of me.

Throw in the fact GR has never raced at Del Mar and hasnt won at 10f before in his career, I think there is a case that his odds are way too short.

Its fair to say that Arrogate’s comeback race (San Diego Handicap) was an absolute shocker but many horses flop on their return, albeit perhaps not as badly. Mikey Smith knew the race was long gone so coasted him home rather than give him a hard time.

His last race (Pacific Classic) he again was a bit sluggish but in the home straight he turned it back on and returned to his best by running down his stablemate and front runner, Collected. He was unlucky in that race in my opinion. It just took him too long to get going.

Arrogate has to overcome a difficult draw but in horse racing as soon as a quality horse loses, the majority run for the hills and they are deemed as good as finished.

I remember the exact same thing happening back in 2015 when American Pharoah lost the Travers to Keen Ice and I managed to get a ridiculous ante post price, as everyone had written him off (albeit a lot of support came for him in the build up to the BC).

I just hope history repeats and the current Worlds Best Racecourse brings his A game.

Good luck to everyone having a bet – heres hoping its a cracker.

    :good:

According to the draw US Navy Flag lines up elsewhere.

    For those interested:

    4 Catholic Boy
    5 Beckford
    6 Masar
    7 James Garfield
    8 Voting Control
    9 Encumbered
    10 Flameaway
    11 Snapper Sinclair
    12 Hemp Hemp Hurray

Ive backed Masar at 6s each way with Stan James’.

I think James Garfield has a great chance. Good luck to those on at nice prices :good:

    Draw has been made:

    1 Arrogate
    2 War Decree
    3 Win The Space
    4 War Story
    5 Gun Runner
    6 Mubtaahij
    7 Churchill
    8 West Coast
    9 Gunnevera
    10 Pavel
    11 Collected

Would love to see Arrogate run back to form here and sign off in style. Tough race and rarely any horses win back-to-back BCC’s.

Personally I think you are being a bit harsh on her lads. She has won three Cox Plates in a row, won 22 races on the bounce and broke the track record today.

Rather than Winx not being at her best, id say its more so a case that the second horse, Humidor, has run an absolute stormer to get close to her. Folkswood was 4 and a quarter lengths behind Humidor, so it was a fantastic performance on the back of a busy campaign.

As for Enable, I think that will be a completely different challenge, but again, personally I reckon she will stick to a mile and if she makes it over to RA, Queen Anne will be the race she goes for.

Well played on the third placed Folkswood. :good:

    I did Ribchester at 4/1.
The Sussex was a complete tactical balls up, won’t happen again.

Im with you here. Took 4/1 before his French trip last weekend and now been trimmed into 3/1. Hard to tell what will turn up for this but am with you 100% that you can put a line through that Goodwood run.

He may well improve next year but he would have to as he wouldn’t be getting weight-for-age. If he was trained by any other trainer it would surely be a no-brainer. Come on Johnny G!!!

Nail – head. Any other trainer and this fella would be going. I hope for the sake of the race he turns up. Not looking like much of a contest as it stands.

I’m confident Cracksman will be there and will probably win it. He looks all over a horse who’s crying out for that kind of test.

I don’t know what Oppenheimer is on about. Gosden talks straight after York of the horse being finished for the year. Frankie voices doubts about him handling Chantilly. Surprise, surprise…he turns up in the Niel.

That was his Arc trial. Passed not quite with flying colours because it’s too sharp for him, but it will have put the final piece of the jigsaw in place for the trainer, surely.

Where will he find the 8lbs improvement he needs tonwin the arc? Thats likely why frankie and oppenheimer keep playing it down is it not? He could be a certainty next year though if enable is put away

if he dosent turn up they know he cant beat her, end of, thats how i view it anyway

If you owned him though youd surely take him? Lots of horses dont train on or get injured. Hes in good form and I think they’d be mad not to take him. They are only worried because they dont want to take on one of their own stable stars, especially because Frankie has said he will ride Enable. Smullen deputised in Ireland so get him back on board.

‘If’ and its a very big ‘if’ Enable gets beat and they didn’t declare Cracksman they would look a bit foolish in my opinion.
