Another somewhat dissapointing card with small runner fields but all gearing towards World Cup day I suppose!
I personally have had two bets today:
15.40 Sea Skimmer 12/1 each way
16.15 Gold Town 5/4I do also like the look of Rembrandt Van Rijn is the 15.05 but the 7/1 has all dried up so I think that will be a watching race for me.
Good luck guys and girls!
January 25, 2018 at 10:00 #1338955good luck, chivers, clints
I looked at RVR clints, he really the caught the eye (again) last time. My problem is he just finds a way to get beat. Agree though it would be no surprise if he went and won this.
What’s your opinion(or anyone’s) was he outstayed by Red Galileo last year or out battled?January 25, 2018 at 10:41 #1338958What do you lot make of Waqqad in Gold Towns race?
From the little I know of him, I make him a lively danger. At the prices, he could be the bet.

The money has come for him this morning.
I’m going to take a risk that he’s good enough.
Waqqad @ 13/2
January 25, 2018 at 11:08 #1338961After last weeks shocker, these are my picks today for Meydan:
Race 1 – Alabaster @ 15/8
Race 2 – Natural Scenery @ 7/4 (NAP)
Race 3 – Galvanise @ 9/2
Race 4 – Waqqad @ 13/2
Race 5 – Rehana @ 5/2
Race 6 – Tangled @ 11/8
Race 7 – Tis Marvellous @ 4/1
Race 8 – In The Lope @ 5/1
Good luck all
January 25, 2018 at 12:04 #1338967Tangled looked too big at 5/2. He has the strongest form by a long way.
Official ratings have Tangled 9 lbs ahead of Moqarrab but that seems a bit close for a Wolverhampton Novice race winner compared to a Group 3 runner up.
Racing Post figures have Hannon’s runner a good bit further ahead. In addition, a couple of those who ran behind Moqarrab were later turned over at odds-on.
There’s the dirt factor and the proven Godolphin record at Meydan but 5/2 Tangled seemed better value.
I thought Rehana ran well last time. She seemed likely to go very close but weakened late to finish 4th to D’Bai. If she’s that bit fitter now, she may give Promising Run a race. Can’t quite make my mind up.
Tangled 5/2 for me and will see where Gold Town goes in the betting. He has more defeats than I like for an odds-on shot.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 25, 2018 at 12:06 #1338968Just checked my above post. I pressed submit about midnight and it took 12 hours to come through. Jeepers.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 25, 2018 at 12:11 #1338973Tangled might look too big Steve BUT and it is a big but Hannon has never had a winner here!! Anyway I digress!!
My picks are all each way and just for an interest
5.25 PICTURE NO SOUND 8/1
4.50 SMILERS BLUE EYES 8/1
4.15 BLUE LAUREATE 14/1
6.00 SPEED HAWK 20/1 TANEEN 16/1
6.35 IN THE LOPE 11/2Good Luck Guys
January 25, 2018 at 12:32 #1338979MOM Waqqad I hold my hands up I cant get a handle on him, watched his maiden win again and looks like he learnt a lot form his dirt debut. Still a bit to come,he needs to go on again about another 8/10lb.
so that didn’t help you a jot lol
GL steve/Raymo shame fav pulled out in Tangled race
January 25, 2018 at 13:21 #1338981Good luck Steve with Tangled..I only managed to get 2/1 and now with Dubai Run a non runner
I have Tangled and Promising Run as my double.@Raymo ..I don’t think Tangled knows Elsworth hasn’t had a winner at Meydan.
Keep it quite until after the race
Good luck
JacSorry Raymo that’s Hannon of course.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 25, 2018 at 13:55 #1338987As I said in my preview, the Godolphin team know what it takes at Meydan. I didn’t know Hannon hadn’t had a winner there but I am not sure how many he has run over the years. Tangled is a fair way ahead and even 90% may suffice.
I gave Rehana a go at 11/4. Would prefer if it were 7F but she was very highly tried last year and looked in good shape last time out. I would hope to see her left to challenge as late as possible. She may just be slightly faster than Promising Run in a dash for home.
Promising Run finished off last year with slightly tame efforts in Listed races, I thought her earlier form was stronger and maybe this time of year will suit her better.
I left Gold Town out, at 4/6 and lower he seems shorter than he should be. He was smart, rather than borderline classic material last season. Listed ability could win this trial but there’s no value to my eyes.
Good luck today everybody.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 25, 2018 at 14:13 #1338988good luck steve and jac
my few for today
wanted slightly bigger but in the end took the plunge on Natural Scenery at 2/1 (3.05)
Opal Tiara e/w @ 7/2 cant see her at the three(famous last words) so played safe (4.50)
In The lope in the lucky last (he is on the drift though) e/w 11/2
January 25, 2018 at 14:32 #1338994Just got back in from work and so only just had chance to look through this card. There’s not a whole lot that I really like to look of from a betting perspective but I have nibbled on Tis Marvellous at 4/1 for the 5 furlong handicap.
I’ve always been a fan of the horse and he’s shown more class in his career so far than today’s opposition. Surely Mr Cox wouldn’t have sent him over to Dubai if it wasn’t a long term thought and the boy is thriving.
January 25, 2018 at 14:48 #1338999Have to agree with that analysis Charles
I too have backed him for similar reasons
January 25, 2018 at 15:36 #1339008I’ve stuck a couple of quid on Galvanise at 9/2 in the 3.40
He seems better since dropping to a mile and was not that far away in 4th last time. He should go close at fair odds.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 25, 2018 at 15:54 #1339009Very odd race from Galvanise there. Pushed up early he took an excellent position at the front, on the rail, and almost immediately started to struggle to hold his position. He just kept weakening from then on right back to second last in the end, surely something amiss there, as his form was tied in tight with the winner today. Watson is 3/38 the past fortnight.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 25, 2018 at 16:19 #1339012Gold Town slaughtered his field there. I suppose 5/6 was like finding money in retrospect.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
