Morning all, I’ll keep this as short as possible as I gotta get up for work in 5 hours.
230 – Faatinah won with a bit more in hand than the neck margin suggests last time. Backed him to win at 11/8 with a saver on Baccarat. He runs well fresh so there is no guarantee that he will come on from his last run.
340 – Heavy Metal is too short to be interested. There are 2 companies that have 50/1 on Fantastic Four while the rest are generally 10/1. A small 50/1 each way in a weak contest will suffice.
415 – Backed 2 in this. Taamol and rival Yalta are closely matched on 6f dirt form in my opinion so for the latter to be 5/4 and the former 12/1 it can only be right for me to back Taamol each way. Had a nibble on Dubai One at 6/1 as well as she has a good chance of handling the surface.
450 – I’ve spent enough already with a packed fixture of jumps racing on these shores seeing to that, so a sizable bet on Promising Run is out of the question. I fully expect her to win but I can’t bring myself to spend anymore.
525 – Mountain Hunter won well last time but I feel a drop in trip will suit him even more so the extra weight isn’t an issue. 3/1 is long enough to back each way and I expect a big run from a progressive looking horse.
600 – Come on Richard Hannon, lets get a winner on the board with Oh This Is Us. Tom Marquand comes over for the one ride on this one and at 7/1 he looks a fair bet. He came very close to winning on his first run of the season last year and that was in a higher class race. I’m not convinced by the Godolphin duo at the head of affairs with current prices convincing me to stay clear.
I wish everyone good fortune for the day ahead…..as long as it isn’t to the detriment of my selections
February 17, 2018 at 00:46 #1342582Thanks for the kind comments regarding High On Life from Thursday.
Not many opportunities for Saturday and some short odds about.
I’ll take a chance on one at better odds in the 3.05 Race.
Muzdawaj was with Willie Haggas early in his career and was then gelded before a couple of trainer changes. He was in the wilderness for a while but his latest start saw him going down only by a short head in his best effort, by some margin, for a while. On 91 now, his best RPR is 100 and he was once rated 92 on OR.
This is a tricky race, with lots of ifs and buts and not many you could be confident about. For that reason, the odds to chance ratio of Muzdawaj appeals to me because he is 10/1.
Each way punters should obviously snag 4 places if possible but it’s on the nose for me.
3.05 Meydan Muzdawaj 10/1 to hopefully run well at rewarding odds.
Best of luck everyone.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 17, 2018 at 11:56 #13426742:30 – Steady Pace @ 5/1
3:05 – Good Trip @ 6/1
3:40 – Bravo Zolo @ 4/1
4:15 – Log Out Island @ 5/1
4:50 – Promising Run @ 4/7
5:25 – Mountain Hunter (NAP) @ 2/1
6:00 – George William @ 16/1
After travelling well on his reappearance, George William is an enormous price at 16/1.
February 17, 2018 at 14:43 #1342720Sorry for my delayed message nightmare of a morning!
Anyway, ive gone for the following:
Baccarat win
Dubai One ew
Promising Run/Heavy Metal doubleHavent really looked at the rest of the card.
Good luck all
February 17, 2018 at 14:58 #1342724Well done Baccarat backers.
Steady pace was a non runner for me in the end.
Money for George William in the last has me even more confident. I’m expecting a big run for my money even at 16s.
February 17, 2018 at 17:04 #1342772I feel mightly lucky that my double came in!!! Not so sure it was a Promising Run in the end but Pat C got the job done in the end.
As a big Godolphin fan ill be having Blair House and Top Score in the last two.
Good luck guys
February 17, 2018 at 17:06 #1342773Even more money for George William in the last…
My shocking record at Meydan means he will probably run a shocker now
February 17, 2018 at 18:03 #1342793Well played Chivers
February 17, 2018 at 18:08 #1342796Ha – one from last. I knew he’d run a shocker because I backed him.
Think that’ll be it for me at Meydan now. Until finals night at least
Well done any winners today and good luck for the next few weeks.
February 17, 2018 at 18:17 #1342799Well done to all with winners today Baccarat was my best, Heavy Metal, Promising Run and two second p!aces Mountain Venture and Top Score. Got my short price treble home but it didn’t pay much but a wins a win.
Nice call with Oh This Is Us Chivers, your patience paid off.
That little monkey Blair House won today and beat my selection and Dubai One ran a similar race on dirt as she did on the turf (abismal) so think a drop in class needed for her..bit of a head scratcher that one.
back to the drawing board. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 17, 2018 at 18:23 #1342801Thanks mate. I’m a big fan of Tom Marquand. Good training performance as well, the horse looked fit and strong.
Keep it up guys n gals. MOM don’t be too hard on yourself, he would have ran like that whether you backed him or not.
February 17, 2018 at 18:28 #1342804Trip, I think Dubai One needs to come back here and run on AW finals day. She’s a good horse on the polytrack/Tapeta.
She was hard done by on champions day last year. Drawn wide, reared when the stalls opened and got a good ol hampering when coming into contention. Dont give up on her just yet.
February 17, 2018 at 18:28 #1342805I agree. Tom Marquand is a brilliant jockey, I just feel that whenever Soumillon gets beaten on a fav (Mountain Hunter) he normally wins the following race – thats pretty much why I went with Top Score. Haha.
February 17, 2018 at 18:35 #1342807I’m pretty sure he’s had the 1 winner on each carnival day this season so yea I see your logic there. He’s obviously on the decline 😬
February 17, 2018 at 18:44 #1342811Lots of hard luck tales here..thought Top Score was given a mountain to climb in the last but can’t deny Oh This Is Us ran a blinder.
Thanks Chivers I won’t give up on Dubai One, let’s hope she’s speedy boarding her way back to Lingfield and to run against Yalta was quite a big ask, he had it sown up before they got into second gear.
Hopefully by us all watching the action at Meydan we will be cued up for the start of the flat especially as Godolphin bring a lot of them over to Newmarket in April..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 18, 2018 at 11:11 #1342884well done winners sorry for not posting to busy up north watching Groves do the business.
