My head says Murphy but I’ll be cheering on Wu

May 4, 2026 at 18:27 #1766009If Wu wins it will be another huge boost to Chinese Snooker
They are producing far more quality young players than the rest of the World
I can see China having a majority of the World Championship line up within a couple of yearsGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 5, 2026 at 01:15 #1766041What a brilliant final.Pity there had to be a loser, but Wu has been brilliant throughout the tournament and fully deserved his title.
he seems like such a good lad – here’s to his ongoing success. 🍻
May 5, 2026 at 08:20 #1766074101 possible frames across the semis and final, 100 played. Doesn’t get much better than that.
It takes two players to make a great final and well played to them both. Frames still being won in one visit right to the end under the highest pressure.
As you say, Wu seems a nice lad and have to say I’ve warmed to Allen and Murphy too. I know Murphy rubs people up the wrong way sometimes but he does seem genuinely gracious in defeat which is admirable.
May 5, 2026 at 09:07 #1766078Yes, Murphy went up in my estimation
still think he’s a show off and stomps around the table but that’s just himChang Bingyu already played at 33’s for next year

May 5, 2026 at 13:42 #1766090Still trying to get my head around how Mark Allen missed that black.
Best final I’ve seen in years. Wu Yize has a bright future ahead of him. Shaun Murphy made a couple of strange shot choices that cost him the match IMO.
May 5, 2026 at 14:09 #1766092I wonder if Murphy now regrets not taking on the long pot on the brown ball into the green pocket?
I can understand him turning it down at the time. It was risky. But it was a chance – and it turned out he didn’t get a better one.
It is easy to be wise after the event, of course.
May 5, 2026 at 18:51 #1766103It’s certainly not a stretch to point to a few individual shots that ultimately cost Murphy the match. It’s a game of the finest margins. Equally the moments of brilliance from Wu like that yellow could easily have gone the other way and we’d be talking about those.
May 6, 2026 at 19:20 #1766165The World Senior Championship is on 5 Action now.
The years haven’t been kind to Tony Drago. I would never have recognised him!
Ronnie O’Sullivan enters the competition in the next round and must be long odds on to win the title if he plays even half decent.
May 6, 2026 at 19:35 #1766169Hmm … the tables have now got white rails. I wonder if Ronnie will be distracted by them and start to lose. The Constitution Hill of Snooker.
May 6, 2026 at 20:00 #1766170That table is hideous, looks absolutely awful.
I thought there was a rule about players still on the main tour not being eligible but I must be thinking of something else.

May 7, 2026 at 17:18 #1766220I expect the standard will improve as the event goes on.
The opening frames of Drago v Farebrother last night was like watching two old timers in the local club trying to play after they had sunk a few pints.
May 7, 2026 at 19:38 #1766231LMAO Cork All Star. Farebrother’s flukes turned the match around.
Rob Milkins is playing like a man possessed tonight.
Jimmy White, on the other hand, looks constantly dumbfounded.May 8, 2026 at 11:22 #1766264Farebrother played very well last night against Carter
He had at least a couple of 80+ breaks from what I can remember
Well it was over 12 hours ago…
