Very well done to those who believed Frodon could defy a rating of 164, he did that well.

Quite what Henderson will make of Rather Be’s effort I don’t know.

I think we know what beckons for The New One now but what about Summerville Boy? Another lacklustre effort there, looks nothing like the horse of last season even if you forget that Supreme win.

The Power does it. As said, he had the winning of that race on ratings – all he had to do was run to form.

I, like a few, have taken advantage of Hills’ 7 places and had one of my bigger bets on Baron Alco e/w with them. I would be mightily disappointed should he finish outside the first 7 and could easily be improving beyond a 6 pound hike in the weights. Rather Be is worth a smaller bet at 4/1 for all he was traveling with consummate ease in the BetVictor and I’m still trying to get my money back from him for his Festival defeat. And, I can’t dismiss Ginge out of hand at 40/1.

    Baron Alco 11/2 (each-way 7 places)
    Rather Be 4/1
    Splash Of Ginge 40/1

I’m a firm believer that you should forgive a horse on bad run but the weakness in the market together with the way he improved into the spring last year is enough to put me off Summerville Boy.

I like Silver Streak here. He’s firmly on the upgrade and should confirm form with Old Guard from the Greatwood and isn’t far behind the best of these on ratings, and most of those are on a retrieval mission.

I’ve backed the grey at 5/1 and also added Brain Power at 13/2. Strictly at the weights he should be winning this and I think it’s a good bit of placing regardless.

    Silver Streak 5/1
    Brain Power 13/2

Didn’t go to Plumpton today but so happy to see Kalashnikov hack up. I’ve been such a huge fan of this horse since day one.

I’ve been backing him for the Arkle since September and am on at 10s, 8s and 7s. I’m more than happy to go in again at 5/1.

Is he a deserving favourite though? Hmmm…

It was ridiculous connections plotting a Champion Hurdle bid before the season started, let alone now.

The horse needs 3 miles and plenty of fences put in front of him. Samcro could well be a Gold Cup winner in waiting, but they’ll be waiting an extra year due to this awful campaign. How they thought he had the speed to defeat a dual Champion Hurdler is beyond me.

Tom George must be disappointed that Summerville Boy couldn’t even get 3rd there, a shadow of the horse we saw at Cheltenham.

I think Elegant Escape 11/2 each way 5 places is the bet.

I’ve backed Summerville Boy here at 11/2. Samcro has it to prove all of a sudden and Henderson’s aren’t exactly firing in.

Couldn’t resist adding a little bit on Willie Boy at 50/1. Tried to give 2 stone to AC/DC last time.

Singlefarmpayment (11/2) and Vicente (9/1) have proved to enjoy these races and both stables are in cracking form. Cogry (10/1) bumped into an on song trier last time and should also go close.

Rather Be (11/2) looks laid out for this and should still be on a workable handicap mark. Kings Socks (9/1) is fairly unexposed and has had this on the agenda over the summer. Ballyandy (20/1) appeals as an e/w poke. He’s schooled plenty and is very leniently handicapped.
