But of the last 40 odd year and those theree its hard to say as Galileo is still alive. But I’d go for Saddlers Wells for classic success and powerful colts.
I was at Ascot and if you asked somebody that just backed Nathaniel they wouldn’t sound too sympathetic about Rewliding at all and these are probably people who don’t attend Ascot often. There are far worse things going on then the occasional racehorse being put down on the course. At least they aren’t healthy. I was reading that the blue cross are so overrun with abandoned cats that they’re putting down perfectly healthy ones to save space. If you are like this for racing how about boxing. People beat the sh*t out of each other for our amusement. And what about profesional fishing how’s that fair to having fish speared though there face only for the amusement of the fishers.

16:25 – Swilley FerryI cant have Overdose coming in even in the frame for this race. I personally think the horse needs further. But what about the draw factor for leading contenders. Sole Power near the rail drawn 2 and the fast Swiss Diva’s got plum 1. However, the fav’s drawn 18 of 19. I think the far side will have the pace.
Canford Cliffs is far from ‘overated’. He does what he needs to do to win and as for last years milers being useless – Makfi beat Goldikova! I was very intetested to see that the horse Goldikova beat into second on her debut won a Group 3 in Longchampre today. However, the form of the Lockinge looks good with the second winning another race in Italy. So come on Canford must defeat Goldikova on what there has been to see.
What about if the race is run like the Greenham? Will Queally be forced to take on the lead early on and damage his chances?
Good to see that some people are informative and know what they’re talking about (Presto). I was only posting what I heard the trainer say – I don’t know a flying **** if GPB is the ‘Frankel of Japan’. But I do believe I am right in saying that everybody here both expects and wants Frankel to dominate and hence win the race. But Richard Hughes has been adimant that he’ll be up closer to the pace on Dubawi Gold and I could see a good move coming round that bend. My only hope is that Frankel is closer. I have a strong urge that for once the Abdulla pace-maker will do a good job and Frankel will sit about 3/4 behind. I know Frankel’s a good horse but I hope Queally doesn’t ride him like he did Midday in the Coronation.
This race is prime for the taking for Sole Power being the best horse on current form and the predicted cut wont harm his chances. The foreigners could scarcely have more of the field but there are no world beaters joining the party. Interesting contender is Monsiour Chevalier who mopped up all the 2yo sprints in 2009 (bar 1 at Royal Ascot) and its not suprising he needed a gap year after the strain Hannon put him through. However, he was as good as to be raced in the 2009 Abbaye and a return to 6furlongs was a shrood move. The horse isn’t suited to 6furlongs and Hughesie never lifted his whip at Windsor. High hopes bringing him straight for this. Though has anyone got info on Jamie Spencer’s ride?
Like others have stated an exacta or CSF may be a good bet in this race being that Goldikova and Canford Cliffs should finish clear of the rest but i’d rather just worry about how easily Canford’s gonna win then about 2 horses. Besides i’ll save my forecast betting for the likes of the Hunt Cup and the Golden Jubilee when i’m less likely to have it up but more excited if i do. I can rightly see why people are jumping on the Goldikova band-wagon but surely she’s had her time in the limelight and its time for a new horse to progress. It’s not as it she’s not made a name for herself winning 3 straight Breeder’s Cup Miles and so on. But being a strong supporter of the home team come the Royal Meating and wanting Canford to finally prove in himself on a world class stage – I’ll be wanting the mare to lose. Besides wouldn’t it be better for racing over here with there being a higher possibility of a Queen Anne winner vs St James Palace winner at Goodwood or Champions Day at Ascot come thend of season. I think it will put a downer on things if Goldi wins again: people will feel happy for a while less if she wins then Canford being the new kid on the block and having the world at his hooves. And I feel slightly sympathetic for Paco Boy never proving himself as the best and Hannon hasn’t had many good horses down the years.
It’s easy enough to say Frankel will win but to say he’ll hose up like he did in the Classic is another matter. Although I have to agree that Frankel should win I’m worried about how the Guineas has affected him and the fact that the same opposition are there who will have renewed tacticts against him. 1/3 is too short for me and he should be 1/2 as in the Classic. The big worry is this Japanese horse who the trainer was quoted as saying ‘he’s the Frankel of Japan’ and ‘the horse wouldn’t be here if we didn’t think he would win.’ However, the Japs don’t have a good reckord in Europe and Britian especially. Frankel should win but does anyone have more info on Grand Prix Boss?
I’ll be doing a treble on the first 3 races of the meating: Canford Cliffs, Sole Power, Frankel. I’ll also chuck in So You Think in a 4 horse accumilator with the same horses over the first 2 days.- AuthorPosts
