You think I won’t enjoy it if he wins by 10 lenghts?

I’m not questioning him, I’m just saying that I’d rather not have a large sum of money riding on him! I hope he reproduces his Guineas performance, and then we can look forward to him taking on the older milers.

But Reet, Zarkava and THM – you keep questioning him and the rest of us will keep enjoy watching this great horse win!!!

    *sigh*

Sorry if you find me tiresome Zarkava.

Perhaps you are right and Frankel ISNT a wonderhorse. Perhaps it IS all "hype" (although I would prefer to use the word we used in the old days "excitement"). But, as you say, the last horse you didnt trust was a double Gold Cup winner and one of the best National Hunt horses of all time. :|

Zarkava – among your spurious statements about the 3yo’s (to be proven – i’d think, as every single season, they will win their share of all-aged Group 1’s), you state Frankel beat "nothing" at HQ. That is rubbish, and the formbook says the same.

Ah but Peruvian Chief the trainers got their TACTICS wrong you see. They let Frankel go on. The next time they will sit comfortably in behind him and then take him when he tires in that final furlong

If as you say they "will sit comfortably behind him" they will be too far behind when the time comes to reel him in.

Frankel has won his races in varying styles, he could win this from the front or being held up or standing on his head, either way they fancy, if anything beats him here I’d be quite frankly astonished.

4/11 is available and extremely generous in my opinion, I’ll be lumping on for sure.

Frankel has run 6 times and only in one of those races did he make all.

I will be most surprised if Henry Cecil instructs Tom Queally to "kick on from 8 out" , as it were.

It’s easy enough to say Frankel will win but to say he’ll hose up like he did in the Classic is another matter. Although I have to agree that Frankel should win I’m worried about how the Guineas has affected him and the fact that the same opposition are there who will have renewed tacticts against him. 1/3 is too short for me and he should be 1/2 as in the Classic. The big worry is this Japanese horse who the trainer was quoted as saying ‘he’s the Frankel of Japan’ and ‘the horse wouldn’t be here if we didn’t think he would win.’ However, the Japs don’t have a good reckord in Europe and Britian especially. Frankel should win but does anyone have more info on Grand Prix Boss?
I’ll be doing a treble on the first 3 races of the meating: Canford Cliffs, Sole Power, Frankel. I’ll also chuck in So You Think in a 4 horse accumilator with the same horses over the first 2 days.

With respect Charles he is hardly the "Frankel of Japan". Good horse though he might be, he has won 4 out of 7 and recorded a top RPR of 119.

I’m really not sure what people mean by all this talk of "renewed tactics". It almost suggests that they let him get away with a soft lead in the Guineas when plainly they just couldnt live with him.

I think if Frankel decides to lead again he will win by upwards of 5 lengths. If they decide to restrain him I think he will win by upwards of 5 lengths. If the others change their tactics this time I think he will win by upwards of 5 lengths.

Just watched Usain Bolt win the 200m at Oslo. He won by about 8 metres and clocked sub 20 secs into a strong headwind with rain tipping down. He got a bot tired in the last 20 metres but still very impressive and in a different league to his opponents. Don’t know why but it reminded me of something…..

I can’t think of any wins they’ve had to be fair, but 2nd in the Arc three times and 2nd in the King George isn’t bad…

But Reet, Zarkava and THM – you keep questioning him and the rest of us will keep enjoy watching this great horse win!!!

I’ve never questioned that he is a very good horse; quite the contrary, I thought him a laydown for his last 3 races, said so, and would be delighted to see him unbeaten for the rest of his career. Where I do differ from the mainstream is my view of his Guineas win.
Imo, he took the whole field by surprise (including his own jockey) with his early speed, and doubtless there were a number who expected him to come back to them, so made no real effort to pursue him early. Being left to do his own thing, he was allowed to build up an unassailable lead, and never once had to change his stride to fend off challengers.
For my money he was flattered, not by a great deal, but certainly by the 6lbs or so that some rate him bettter than his actual achievement, and – without that element of surprise – he’s unlikely to reach that rating again, even in an uncompetitive SJP, let alone against the really top milers.
True ‘monsters’ come along very rarely in my experience, (Kauto Star was probably the latest) certainly not nearly as often as some of the raters would have us believe, and the odds are very much on my side that Frankel isn’t one.

Well I look forward to ramming those words firmly down your throat Reet!! :D

The others were taken by surprise in the Guineas all right – they were surprised by the incredible stride, the relentless gallop, the unbelievable stamina to maintain all of that for 8 furlongs! To say that they let him get away with it is frankly, in my opinion, absurd and simply wrong. AOB said that Roderic came back with his eyes on stalks. Johnny Murtagh said they were caught in a speed warp. Luke Morris said it was the most incredible performance he had ever seen and that Frankel is the best he has ever seen. I could go on.

By the way I don’t think it is an uncompetitive SJP at all. There is Dream Ahead, double G1 winner, Zoffany, G1 winner, Grand Prix Boss, G1 winner, Wootton Basset, Group 1 winner, Excelebration G2 and classic winner, Dubawi Gold, twice runner up in classics. Doesnt look THAT bad! It’s just it FEELS uncompetitive because Frankel towers over his opposition.

Roll on Tuesday – I’ll be there!!!

I know it’s probably been said to death, but frankel/SYT multi is the best bet at Ascot for mine.

I think you’ll get evens in brit atm, I got 1.86 here on an aussie site, but thats NR/NB. For some reason it had NR/NB market before all british sites.
