Very disappointing turnout for this which only adds to my frustration that Step Back is going for the Becher/National route. Thomas Patrick is a worthy favourite but is priced correctly at this stage. At bigger odds, Go Conquer is mildly interesting but I’ll leave this race alone now I’ve chucked the Step Back money down the drain.
December 1, 2018 at 01:12 #1387592I’ve just had to add Beware the Bear to my Ms Parfois bet at 16/1 each way (5 places).
December 1, 2018 at 01:31 #1387597What I said was:
“We can all times our winnings by 1000.
We can all divide our winnings by 1000 too”.Am not having a go.
Punters should be sceptical whenever anyone says how much they’re going to win; especially when it’s an extreme amount. TRFers should not get angry if they’re not believed.
Some people will have a character where it is only natural for them to exaggerate and there’s nothing wrong with that. Some will always tell the absolute truth… And am sure some on here are naturally modest, having a character where – as my second line indicates – making out they’re putting on less than they actually are. For all we know you’ve actually put on enough to win 50,000,000 Naus’ and only saying it’s 50k.
Some of us old fashioned types find talking about how much we personally have won or will win quite vulgar… Which is partly why I do all my stakes in “points”. My Daily Lays And Plays thread makes it obvious if/when I’ve had a better than my usual win/potential win. However, nobody on here knows how much money I put on/won or stand to win… That’s just me, doesn’t mean you have to be the same.
I used to take a racing pal of mine to the races, but when it was obvious he put on too much money for his financial position and often drank too much on a losing day… And yes, he was pretty near the “breadline” and yet was a really nice bloke (even when drunk). Concerned, I got in touch with Gamcare and was told that claims of massive wins/potential wins can encourage some (who may not have as much money as the claimer or more suseptible to the potential problems of gambling) to put on more than they can personally afford to lose. Therefore, I believe it only right to point out some punters may exaggerate (doesn’t mean you have). In the hope doing so will lessen the chance of problem gamblers betting more than they can afford to lose. Indeed, the forum I was on before TRF banned anyone from saying how much they staked/stand to win/won – no doubt for that very reason.
Thought we knew each other well enough for you not to take offence, Naus’; it was meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek… But obviously wrong and therefore I apologise. tbh Think you’d be an asset to Daily Lays And Plays if ever wanting to put all your bets in one thread.
Good luck today, anyway.
Value Is EverythingDecember 1, 2018 at 02:14 #1387600Jees, that got a bit intense
Hopefully by the time morning comes the dust will have had
time to settle. I’m glad you took the time to explain your comments Ginge, considering if you took
Nausered’s advice you’d be practicing your John Wayne walk. And to be fair to Nausered, I can understand
why he could have taken it quite personally. Hopefully your explanation might help soothe things a
little. I think a few things have been said in the heat of battle, which perhaps (or perhaps not)
might be slightly regretted on reflection. Nausered we’ve chatted a good few times mate, and I’ve
liked what you wrote (not necessarily your last couple of double barrels if I’m honest) and you’ve
made a decent contribution to the forum, I wouldn’t like to see you go mate, you know your horses
and that’s what this forum should be about.Hopefully it’s a case of handbags at 10 paces, and we can all get back to the important stuff in
the morning. Like I said, I’ve pinned my hopes on American, but I’d be delighted to see the gamble
on Dingo come in for yourself and Bobby
December 1, 2018 at 02:49 #1387603I’d be delighted too if Dingo won.
Value Is EverythingDecember 1, 2018 at 10:28 #1387647Thank you Botchy, Pants, Steeplechasing, Raymo, and BigG.
BigG, I’m sorry I upset you a bit, and anyone else with my nasty replies to the pair with no kahoonas between them. I won’t have some internet gimp call me a liar though (or even insinuate it). I’m the nicest bloke in the world, I even do my bit for charity. Two blokes paid £4500 to Macmilian Cancer support in an auction, to spend the weekend with me doing a certain ‘thing’ not long ago. Another paid £3k to a fund for a very sick child, to do the same. I can be an angel, I can also be the devil, when rubbed up the wrong way. Sorry.
December 1, 2018 at 10:32 #1387648I was at sandown for the race and immediate reaction of everyone there as that was two class horses putting in a superb round. Sometimes you just get a better feel for a race live.
Ms parfois is just about my favourite horse in training. I can see her sheer guts pulling it out at the finish
Hardly original but the first three in the betting make sense to me
Also Newbury’s redevelopment continues superbly. Was there yesterday and it’s arguably the best pure racing course in the country.
December 1, 2018 at 10:35 #1387650Hurrah !! Good to see common sense prevails!!

Back to the race now !!
I am on Sizing Tennessee Flying angel and a saver on Dingo

Good Luck Guys

Are you actually this stupid? Or do you just try really hard? Someone asked me a direct question, go look. I could have ignored him, because I did not and was actually honest with him, I have to suffer first you with your ‘internet insinuations’… Then another, because of you, calling me an outright liar. Here’s a little scenario for you Ginge. Ten of us TRF’ers are in a pub. First, you and RacingOrchid, would never call anyone a liar to their faces. Second. If you did it to me, I’d beat you up and down the road and back again. But you would never do it anyway, you save that stuff for the internet. This, speaks volumes about you and RacingOrchid. When everyone else is being kind, you need to ‘go the other way’ on the internet don’t you Ginge. Say what you want, don’t call me a liar you two bob internet idiot. You’re not a doctor Ginge, with all of your forum diagnosis. You just wanted to piss on the fire didn’t you. That’s you, plain for all to see. I’ll say it again, don’t call me a liar, unless you want to come and say it to my face treacle. I can prove every single thing I’ve said on this forum, in a heart beat if I wanted too. I don’t need to. I’ll just walk away, because I don’t like being called a liar, and now, I don’t like you.

Good for you and your mate Ginge. I do not touch a drop of alcohol, only on social occasions or on a date. Never at home, never at any other point. Last drink I had, was six weeks ago. I used to get horse racing tips, from one of the most feared horse racing punters, this country has probably ever seen. He used to play dice in my west end casino in the very early hours, I used to be naughty, and push him back the very odd losing bet (£50-£100k risking my job). He would lose it seconds later, he was a hideous craps player. That bloke would have £200k on a horse no problem, 16-1 shots, in the 90’s. He’s dead now, I never even knew his name, neither would you. I won a fortune because of this man, he turned £20 of mine into £7k at glorious Goodwood (a fortune for me then) thirteen horses, nine of them won. A couple at big prices, nothing under 7-2. We can all tell stories, mine are just not manic depressant, trying to make excuses for why I insinuated some one is a liar, for no reason at all. Here’s a depressing story for you back. Before I was diagnosed with pheyocromocytoma, I was misdiagnosed as having a thinning of the main artery to the brain. I was blacking out you see, a previously super healthy man. That misdiagnosis, gave me a month at most to live. I had a very young son at the time, and had to tell him. I did not sleep for five days straight. They was wrong, and I’m totally healthy now. I’ll always have high blood pressure though, does it show? I did have to suffer a cancer ward for three months though. Watched young family men, with young kids, waste away and die in front of me. Now you have heard that Ginge, ask yourself… Do you think I fear an amount of money on a horse? Life is for living. Here’s another depressing story for you. When I was just 13 my old man was a millionaire. He was a scaffolder, made his money from the 80’s boom. When I was 14, he lost it all, many did. The rat took out a very large mortgage in my name, with a dodgy broker. They made out I was 21, when i was only 14 and at school. Of course the gaff was repossessed when I was 20 or so. A major debtor, before my life had even began. A credit black lister. I could not say a word, as even though I’d grass him in a heart beat… If I did, my mum was married to him at the time. My mum had nothing to do with it, but would have been done for it too by proxy. Apart from the casinos, I’ve never worked for anyone in my life, and never had a line of credit in my life. That makes things tough you know. I did not have a bank account for donkeys years, the banking system thought I was a lot older, and a bad debtor. That’s a sad story Ginge, but it’s 100% honest, like every other word I say. Do you think I’d say online that my own dad screwed me into the ground before my life had even started? I have principles Ginge.
You thought you knew me well enough too insinuate that I’m a liar???
A real man Ginge, would just say, you know what, I should not have said that, I’m sorry.
You can’t do that can you, not without insinuating a load of other stuff, to cover what you said before.
You insinuated I’m a liar, I’m not. That’s that Ginge. Anything else, well you know what to do, don’t you. Remember, do it sideways.
December 1, 2018 at 12:13 #1387679Back to the race now Raymo. Good luck all, I hope your horses do well today.
I’m off to scream at Dingo.
Be lucky.
December 1, 2018 at 12:31 #1387684I think Elegant Escape 11/2 each way 5 places is the bet.
December 1, 2018 at 13:02 #1387695Skybet offering 5 places is extremely generous and warrants a top up on each selection.
It’s by no means a vintage renewal, but we may as well make the most of it!
December 1, 2018 at 13:17 #1387696Not added to my AP bets.
Thomas Patrick 10s
Dingo Dollar 16sGood luck all.
December 1, 2018 at 13:31 #1387699And Ginge, I just backed Kapcorse, really quite heavily at 14-1. I would have written that up on this forum this morning, but I did not.
The reason. Is you. Well done poster of the year.
I’m off to count my winnings…

I’ve won a fair bit more, than I have on Dingo today… GET IN THERE BRYONY YOU LITTLE BEAUTY!!!
If karma made that horse win just now, I thank you and Orchid Ginge.
December 1, 2018 at 13:36 #1387700I was originally very confident in Ms Parfois (11/2) to go well. But the way the race panned out, it’s Beware The Bear (16/1 e/w) that I’m now very confident in going close.
Topped up the latter at 12s now too. The race is full of front runners, and he will relish the trip and ground. Surely he finishes best of everything in this field? If they go off too quick (very possible with so many front runners taking each other on), I could see him picking them up late.
Good luck all. Come on the Bear!
December 1, 2018 at 14:00 #1387705I am happy with my pair, but I still think that Thomas Patrick could prove hard to beat.
It’s one of the big races, so I will add a third. I liked Big Brown Bear early doors, so I will add him for win only.
December 1, 2018 at 14:04 #1387708The team are expecting 2019 Gold Cup winner in waiting Elegant Escape to comfortably win today.
The legend has a 100% strike rate in Newbury chases. Will come on massively on this 2nd run back following a wind op.
Hard to see what can match the champ today.Could be single figures for.the gold cup after the race.
