wtf De Giles was doing on that favourite is anyone’s guess. A winner waiting to happen if ever there was one (and provided the rough race has not left any mental scars).

Have to agree with you there, that’s as poor a ride as I’ve seen for a while. The horse ran a bit green without a doubt, but I think if Mick Fitz would have been in the saddle it would have won by 10 lengths+.

Also, for another yard capable of producing strange results see Dandy Nicholls and the 6.05 at Southwell.

With Makelele and Essien in there, that’s far from an easy midfield to break down. If you do manage to get on top there, then you’ve got possibly one of the hardest back three’s in the World to break down in the shape of Carvallho, Terry and Cech.

The phenomenon that is Fernando Torres was far from phenomenal the other night missing two gilt edged chances. Cech does deserve credit for two good saves, but Torres really should have buried one if not both of those chances.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, I don’t see them getting any chances half as good as that at Stamford Bridge and I make them huge favourites to make the Final.

I’m in the Kazal camp aswell and don’t think the ground will have any bearing on it. I see it being between Blazing Bailey and Kazal and with Kazal possibly being slightly the fresher of the two, I see no reason why he shouldn’t finish in front of Blazing Bailey again.

Bleedin ‘ell that was tough watching Ding against Fu. I feel I’ve aged considerably since the start of the day.

It was supposed to be a comfortable passage through for Ding, not a bloody final frame decider which he only took at the 3rd attempt.

Cracking match though and keeps me alive on two fronts.

I know I may be biased as the late Celtic winner won me some money, but I think it would have been rough justice on Celtic had it finished a draw.

Maybe the rules could be looked into regarding the handball on the line which stopped a certain goal, by possibly awarding the goal instead of the penalty? Although the player was sent off, the pressure on Macdonald was immense for that penalty and I think it would have been wrong if Rangers had gone on to get a draw and benefitted from that incident.

I thought she was very impressive.

Lost ground with a sluggish start, but was never in any danger at all out the back. Came through from last to first pretty quickly with the minimum of fuss and with still showing signs of greenness will no doubt come on again for the run.

Definitely one I’d want to be on rather than against, even if 3/1 does appear a little skinny at the minute.

Gonna chuck a tenner on Ding at 12’s, really think it could be his year in what I think is a wide open tournament.

    Advantage Man Utd I’d say.

A breeze for them last night in a very impressive win, while my previous favourites (Barca) stumble to a scrappy 1-0 win. If Man Utd can keep their big guns fit, then I’m changing my mind and going for them.

Tonight from a betting point of view I fancy the same to happen as did last night – 2 away wins.

Excellent news, I await further updates with interest!

It’s something I’ve always fancied and maybe 20 years down the line when my mortgage is payed off, kids grown up and left home and I’ve earned my fortune, then it may be a possibility to own a horse of my own.

Until then though, if there’s something on offer that’s not going to break the bank then I’ll more than likely be interested.

Still not really sure where I stand on this whole debate?

One thing I will add though, is I was quite disturbed watching a horse I’d backed earlier on today being hit relentlessly with the whip when it was clear the horse was beaten.

The horse was Nevada Red in the 4.45 at Haydock, and as I say I thought the treatment it got from It’s jockey was pretty disturbing IMO.

    Flat – Kieran Fallon

    NH – A P McCoy

And a special mention to Kirsty Milczarek who’s right up there, and as good and strong as any of the fella’s in a driving finish IMO.

The original question of this thread has just been answered on BBC Sport website as breaking news..

My own thoughts is that it would have been a backward step to put Trescothick back in, as good a player as he is and has been. It’s definitely time to look forward instead of backwards.

On the County Championship thing, my money would be on Lancashire. They threaten every year and always seem to find a way to lose it, but I’ve just a feeling this year could be their turn.

That’s coming from a Yorkie aswell.

I was so offended by Big Macs disrespect towards women in Big Brother that I now will only eat in Burger King when I go out for a meal. I have ever since always shunned the golden arches and would even choose Wimpy over a Big Mac.

    Good for you!

I like it, you’ve made a choice, stuck to it and not been afraid to let people know.

I’m a golden arches deserter aswell, but for completely different reasons to yours.

I honestly can’t believe people are prepared to make a judgement on somebody based on their appearance on a show as pathetic as Big Brother!

I like JM and always have, he’s just one of those people to me, that when he speaks I have to listen. I may not always like (or agree) with what he says, but I certainly respect his knowledge of racing and betting.

Saying what you think and speaking your mind is something I have a lot of time and respect for, even if I don’t agree with it I still respect anyone like JM who is not afraid to ruffle a few feathers to get their point across.

Unfortunately though it seems nowadays that too many people take offence at the pettiest little things, and anyone who is prepared to say what they feel and possibly upset someone else in the process is looked on as a bad person.

You could also argue that being in a battle for 2nd place helped get a bit more out of Kauto Star, while Denman was all alone and idling a bit in front.

How does anyone know that if Kauto would have jumped soundly and come upsides Denman up the run-in, that Denman wouldn’t have found extra and fought him off?

Yep, see where you’re coming from now.

I honestly can’t see him going off at the start of any race next year at odds against, that’s just my opinion though.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of backing ante-post as there’s always risks involved, but am severely tempted to start backing already for Cheltenham next year. Denman at around 6/4-7/4 and Master Minded around 5/4 could be a nice weekly investment doubled up.

Don’t know how long those odds will last but at around 9/2-5/1 for the double, I’m really tempted to get a few ante-post slips stacking up over the coming weeks/months.
