Having backed Inghwung (admittedly only to the tune of a tenner each-way) to beat the Gary Moore favourite I presume you’re alluding to I can’t agree, in this instance, that the result is anything other than fair. Lupanar had run well on his British debut, but won an appalling race (runner-up rated 94) next time out and did so less than comfortably.
As it happens he’s run quite well this afternoon after being hopelessly outclassed at Aintree, and should score next time if his sights aren’t set too high.
I’m actually quite annoyed I missed the bumper after his promising debut, especially in a race full of newcomers, but as I was collecting my winnings on Blazing Bailey at the time I’ll forgive myself this once.
April 24, 2008 at 18:43 #159710You have to admire a man that can incorporate winners in two different countries into a single post.
Good to see you getting your unfortunate forecast losses back.

April 24, 2008 at 18:46 #159711What can I say…I’m gifted.
That said I think I should apologise for the remark I made the other day, AP. I won’t go into any specifics but I’d had an ‘iffy’ day and probably read something into your post which wasn’t there.
So again, I offer my apologies.
April 25, 2008 at 00:29 #159762wtf De Giles was doing on that favourite is anyone’s guess. A winner waiting to happen if ever there was one (and provided the rough race has not left any mental scars).
Have to agree with you there, that’s as poor a ride as I’ve seen for a while. The horse ran a bit green without a doubt, but I think if Mick Fitz would have been in the saddle it would have won by 10 lengths+.
Also, for another yard capable of producing strange results see Dandy Nicholls and the 6.05 at Southwell.
April 25, 2008 at 00:37 #159765Short-priced Nicholls favourite, ridden by his lad, and you’re surprised it was beaten…? That said, Fire Up The Band hasn’t looked the most resolute in recent outings.
April 25, 2008 at 00:45 #159766It wasn’t the fact it was beaten, it was the fact that the winner was from the Nicholls stable and was 33/1 and won a shade cosy IMO.
April 25, 2008 at 01:03 #159767I didn’t realise the winner was a stablemate of the favourite, but it does go some way to making it all the less surprising…but I guess those who needed to know, did.
April 25, 2008 at 10:04 #159783What is suprising about a 5f horse getting outstayed over a stamina-sapping 6f?
April 25, 2008 at 12:42 #159806Hamsay’s Southwell form before the race was
0-1-151543-1
