Still very much an Irish plot job race anyway. Henderson is too honest lol.

I swear this happens every year. Something is really well fancied/backed antepost and then they drift on the day.

I miss the Channel 4 days. The coverage is great on ITV except for the Presenters. Have to watch most of the programme on mute. Richard Hoiles honourable exception.

Looks strong if he stays. Mullins has about 10 in there. Probably be no hiding place.

Romeo’s gone to the wrong race probably. I think he’d have won that with his jumping. Hes no slower at 2m than Lulamba

Shoulda woulda coulda but I thought Sober Glory had him in trouble before nearly taking the last out of the ground, did well to get back as close as he did. Good race though could be 3 nice horses

Lol at ITV asking AP and Mick if the winner did anything wrong. Not at all biased towards Henderson historically

I know people will tell me the horse won’t stay and maybe he won’t but I just have a feeling Il Ridoto is going to give Olive Nicholls a lovely spin. Loves Cheltenham, probably a fair mark. He might just need a trip now as hes got older.

I see Gina Andrews is pencilled in for Nicholls other horse Insurrection and I don’t know much about the horse but I rate Gina in these amateur riders races around here a lot. Everyone tends to zone in on the Irish riders but she is very good, won the race before I believe.

Such a contrast to what probably happens if Final Demand didn’t bomb out on his last run. I think he’d have been heavy odds on in a field of 5 or 6. Romeo Coolio in the Arkle, Kotail Divin in the handicap etc Nobody is scared of him here now and this big field probably ensures a strong pace and no hiding place on the jumping front either. Should be a cracker.

Is it just me or is it a really tough opening day now since they moved the Mares and replaced it with the Plate? The situation is summed up by this puzzle of the mostly non-triers about to start trying and ironically they’ve not tried enough potentially on Munsif as first reserve, big chance if they can get him in but I suspect they’ll need a smaller set of connections to drop out as I can’t see the mob from Elliott, Mullins, O’Brien, McManus etc doing him any favours knowing the danger he may pose.

I’d argue Epatante and by association Honeysuckle since she basically just beat Epatante and Sharjah, they both won pretty bad Champion Hurdles in the early 2020’s. How good was Sharjah? Not great. Deep down we know this because Honeysuckle ducked back into the Mares Hurdle rather than defending her title in 2023 when the competition heated up. Epatante got turned over numerous times and shared a Grade 1 with Not So Sleepy. We’ve had a few bad Champion Hurdles in the past decade.

I hope Fact To File gets beat in the Ryanair, not that I’ll be watching it if he does. Too much ducking and diving. Should be going for Gold. Same old story, bit boring now. No pocket talking here just the best should be going for the Grade 1 pinnacle of the meeting not these Grade 1 in name penalty kicks. He stays fine its just Willie wants all of the cakes

Just so I’m understanding the Wellington thing its an extra selection so in theory you could have 3 selections in a given race and that race could have your nap and Wellington as separate horses?

Mixed feelings about this. Its a shame in some ways hes finished as a NH horse but at the same time if anything had happened to him on the Tuesday I doubt many of us would be able to enjoy any of the rest of the week. Look forward to seeing how his flat twilight career pans out.

On another note I read/hear he was drifting like a barge before it was officially announced. This bookmaker sponsoring yards malarky is a massive problem for the game. The sport relies on them too much and for me there is a slight integrity issue that stems from that relationship.

Tough call for them anyway regarding Cheltenham. Its a very winnable champ hurdle but the worst case scenario is the very worst case sadly. I’d like to think if theres any doubt at all in their minds they give it a swerve and hes only lining up if they are as convinced as they can be.
