Quinta Do Lago a fair bet for me. Always look out for Jessie’s runners at big festivals and this horse was a good third behind two Triumph shorties last time out. Strong pace and a stiff finish should suit and first time cheekpieces might sharpen up his jumping which he’ll need to do. 33s each way (6 places)

Is it just me or is it a really tough opening day now since they moved the Mares and replaced it with the Plate? The situation is summed up by this puzzle of the mostly non-triers about to start trying and ironically they’ve not tried enough potentially on Munsif as first reserve, big chance if they can get him in but I suspect they’ll need a smaller set of connections to drop out as I can’t see the mob from Elliott, Mullins, O’Brien, McManus etc doing him any favours knowing the danger he may pose.

I’ll go for Hardy Stuff as well. Was a short price for the Trials here earlier this year, but ran too free. Maybe the big field will help. Also like Pourqoi Pas Papa. Beaten two lengths by Manlaga at Haydock and Manlaga is now the favourite for his. Pourqoi Pas Papa is 6 pounds better off.

Madness d’Elle and The Mighty Celt both ew for me. I Like the form of the Mullins horse with Kilmeaden and the Celt wasn’t trying a yard in his prep race.
