“Commentator in mentioning the owners said Galopin ‘retired’?”
It was mentioned on the “Road To Cheltenham” on Monday.

Surely must’ve been something wrong.
Nichols at Cheltenham last few years, bar the odd one or two like Caldwell P, has been naff to follow.

LD – there were rumours earlier in the week that Galopin had been retired (VF even posted it, briefly, in the retirements thread here), but nothing official as yet. Hoiles must have got that rumour stuck in his head.
Might be but he travelled ok and had nowhere to go from that awful position when he asked him to pick up , going to be another front runners day

There possibly was but Cobden got away in a good position and then lost it.
That start needs sorting out/repositioning as the favourite’s race got proverbally flushed down the toilet there which incidentally would have come in handy for the runner that was literally taking a p*ss in front of the tape.
CAs – missed that episode, but given his age and missing Cheltenham (which I think would have been his last regardless) if he is retired then it is the right decision for the horse as (and excuse the old addage here) he doesn’t owe anyone anything.
Ooh – are Declan Queally and Nico having a fight after racing? Preferably with the other jockeys standing in a circle around them chanting “fight, fight, fight”.
Declan would be no offers there.
I agree that particular start is not very satisfactory. When there are a lot of runners, it is 1.01 a false start.

Had to laugh at Ruby pointing out Nico’s form last year getting Jonbon stuck in the tape
Strange that the winner was as big as he was but Townend was on the right one and that should have been a big pointer.
Nico losing the plot at the start with his f’ing and blinding rant at the amateur Mr D L Queally for daring to be on his inside when he was trying to get an inside rail position – at least Luke and AP said he had every right to be there and then Ruby casually mentioning that Nico didn’t cover himself in glory last year when putting Jonbon’s head on the tape, so maybe he “should look in the mirror too”.

Cobden admits on RTV he gave the favourite a poor ride. Fair play to him for his honesty.
