I was at Ayr today and while Sixmilebridge won I don’t think the Russell yard will be to distraught over the run of Derryhassen Paddy , he made a mistake early and didn’t have the gears of the winner , much more of a Cheltenham horse and I’ll have a tickle on him
November 14, 2025 at 17:49 #1744509Jimmy Du Seuil 20-1 e/w.
Trainer says the horse is going chasing, and I fancy he (Jimmy, not Willie) may have a bit more toe than his more lauded stablemate, Final Demand.
November 16, 2025 at 12:50 #1744742Final Demand 11-4
November 16, 2025 at 15:49 #1744793NAP of the meeting Final Demand

November 16, 2025 at 15:57 #1744797True…. Kopek Des Bordes gets the nod after tomorrow…

November 16, 2025 at 16:46 #1744807Kopek wouldn’t stay three miles in Constitution Hill’s horse box.
November 16, 2025 at 19:31 #1744860The Arkle isn’t 3 miles so no worries on that account

November 17, 2025 at 03:44 #1744894Good job this isn’t the Arkle thread…
November 17, 2025 at 10:06 #1744911At least I have beaten Mike on a price! Screenshot provided only to show I am not after timing.
In all honesty, 4/1 against a horse which hadn’t jumped a fence in public was not a great price. However, we all know how the game works nowadays. There was a bit of 2/1 still available yesterday but if he wins over Christmas and at the DRF, he will be odds on.
I thought Final Demand did it well enough yesterday, although they crawled around. The winning margin was exaggerated by the runner up making a mistake at the last fence but I liked the way he put serious distance between them with Townend hardly moving.
I wouldn’t go as far as Nathan in saying he is the nap of the meeting. Plenty of odds on chances got turned over last March and until he wins a race at Cheltenham, there has to be a slight question mark about him on the track. However, it was clearly a most promising start.
November 19, 2025 at 19:55 #1745074At present the back catalogue in this race looks relatively thin. Things can change and horses can improve but for now Final Demand is the NAP of the meeting… What is the shortest Festival SP? He’s got to get there but looks a certainty ever this far back.
Kopek is a machine but has a brain of his own. I wouldn’t be able to sit back and relax watching a race of his. Throw in Lulamba and July Flower to the Arkle mix and its a deeper contestCharles Darwin to conquer the World
November 19, 2025 at 20:11 #1745078In a 2 mile grade 1 chase at the Festival one mistake and a good chance it’s over, as shown by El Fabiolo, Jonbon and Majborough in the last couple of years, so calling any horse in them type of races a nap of the meeting isn’t something I’d be keen to entertain.
November 19, 2025 at 20:22 #1745079Plenty of bankers have won the Arkle
Gaelic Warrior, El Fabiolo, Shishkin, Footpad, Altior, Douvan, Simonsig, Un De Sceaux, Sprinter Sacre and Sizing Europe
That’s 10 in the past 15 years and Coral even broke down going 1/1 on Sprinter Sacre on the day.. and that’s not including Edwardstone who went off fav….. I’d entertain that ..

November 19, 2025 at 20:48 #1745083Douvan and Kauto Star are two more that fell in a 2 mile grade 1 chase there. If Kopek jumps clean i think he’ll win but no nap as I thought Majborough was a shoo-in last season.
November 19, 2025 at 21:09 #1745084Kopek isn’t the Nap anyway Mike… He runs too fresh and has tougher opposition than Final Demand at this stage.
Final Demand jumps clean and straight, settles, has a big old engine and has plenty of tactical pace for 3 miles
Horses fall at all distances Mike. Cue Card in the Gold Cup, Kauto Star fell in a Gold Cup and ran through a fence.

November 20, 2025 at 15:56 #1745105No certainties for Cheltenham when 4 months of potential mishaps lie in wait!
I’ve invested at 33-1 ew on Wendigo for this and hope for better luck than he had in the Albert Bartlett last year (although Gavin Sheehan’s optimistic racing path had a lot to do with that!) He was beaten a head on his first outing over fences by another ridiculous power finish by Sean Bowen but I’m looking forward to him coming back at Newbury next week to put himself somewhere in the picture for this🤞
(Confession: I was so taken by his potential last season that I invested in a few shares with the Racing Club!😱)November 28, 2025 at 14:05 #1745770Lovely performance today over a trip rather short for him! Super jumping and lookout Cheltenham!
