philip hobbs horses dont seem to be running up to thier form this week. i hope its just down to the horses not being good enough and detroit city puts in a good effort tomorrow.
asian maze clearly didnt run her race, al eile has lost all he form, so what did brave inca actually do? he beat 2 rags less than 3 lengths! brave inca was brilliant last season, but i think being ridden so vigourously has taken its toll on the horse and he wont be anywhere near as good this season. imo
i cant see brave inca in the top 3 in the champ after that
it seems like he hasa lost all his enthusiasm for racing. take him out hunting and get his blood pumping again
This race will be closer than the betting suggests in my opinion. both horses have cracking cheltenham form. hardy eustace is going to be giving detroit city 4lb. do you think this will make much difference?
i think it has more to do with kauto star being in the race than not wanting to travel WoA before cheltenham!
this just goes to show that horses should be run when they are right, because it can so quickly go wrong. celestial gold only had to runs last year and obviously wont run this season. another wasted talent imo
watching his last few races he has jumped alot better, but he is completly one paced and doesnt finish his races. i hope he can win this saturday and increase his confidence, then maybe he can step up into higher quality races. personaly i think a hurdles run may sharpen him up abit
i think its a shame he hasnt turned out as good over fences as hurdles, i thought he was destined for atleast 1 gold cup! i think i spin over hurdles wouldnt do him any harm and would see if he still has the enthusiasm for hurdle races
i keep hearing people talk about the possibility of kauto star racing in thr CC and GC. have connections actually considering this or is it all speculation. personally i cant imagine paul nicholls going for both races with kauto
i hope your right, it does go against the grain though! A 4 year old hurdler favourite against a twice champion hurdler who was 3rd last year when ‘out of form’ and has won 3/4 of his runs at the track!
do you not think hardy looked back to himself at ascot?
when i saw him last year i thought he looked like he had past his best, but he looked much healthier this season. and they both stay well, so neither should be stopping, i think it will come down to who is the fastest up the hill.
my heart is saying detroit city, but my head is saying hardy eustace! i thought they would be very short priced joint favourites, so 2-1 is very tempting.
i think detroit city is going to have his work cut out on saturday to beat hardy eustace, who seems to be back to his best. imo. i think it will be a good race even though there is only likely to be a handful of runners
this could be a very good race between hardy eustace and detroit city. hardy looked back to his best at ascot and has clearly got over last year. the race has been reopened but i cant see anything being entered that can upset these 2, providing asian maze, al eile and brave inca stay in ireland.
i find my way de solzen being favourite for the arkle abit odd. he doesnt have the pace for quick ground over 2 miles, as was proved in the supreme novices. with the ground likely to be good or faster, surely he wont be fast enough. he probably will win tomorrow because of the soft/heavy ground, but he will need 3 miles in march. fair along definatly wont like the ground tomorrow, and i will be suprised if he isnt a non runner
with regard to central house, i think his poor performances in england have been due to good or faster ground. he seems a much better horse on soft. he will get these conditions on saturday, but even at his best is running for place money surely
