Very sad news indeed. I loved how this horse ran and I was really looking forward to him running in this. I always find it even more sad when it happens to one of the smaller trainers particularly when it’s the stable star.

Is Stay Humble likely to turn up here? He doesn’t appear to be entered in any races other than the Cheltenham Bumper. Has anyone heard anything? i.e. is it likely he’ll turn up without a run?

I fancy Fagan’s chances for this. He was a three miler as a novice hurdler finishing second in the Albert Bartlett and would have won with another 20 yards. The further he goes the better I think it will suit him and he favours good ground.

I don’t think people should be using terms such as: rancid, disgusting or vile to describe this forum or those contributing to it. From what I have seen over the last few months of being on the forum it is enthusiastic, passionate and informative.

I would also describe it as a horse racing community with generally people wishing well to one another on their bets etc.

If someone has had a good day in the office then fair play.

I couldn’t agree more MOM and I think he’ll be even better over fences. I too am on him a good odds in the ‘win any race’ market hence I am largely indifferent as to in which race he runs. But I do agree with Ham, the Supreme looks there for the taking versus a deep looking Ballymore. I don’t think it will make a difference but why not try and win the easier race?

Well, that was a demolition by Samcro. He is the novice banker of the week, no question.

I agree Jack I think Yorkhill would be much better suited with Ruby on board, as would Faugheen in my view. I think both would see improvement. That said, something is clearly up with Yorkhill. I’m not a horseman by any means but I tend to think if a horse jumps so far to one side as Yorkhill does, to his left, then they are probably not quite right ie it would suggest to me the horse is in pain somehow. As I say I’m no horseman and could well be wrong but why jump left or right if you’re such a balanced athlete?

Clearly Yorkhill could get away with this in novice company but in open company perhaps not. Putting his jumping to one side, what seem odd this year is we just haven’t seen him travelling in his races at all. Not at 2m nor 3m and I’m not convinced we would have either had we seen him over 2 1/2m as some have suggested. Perhaps he is struggling with some kind of virus because this is not the same horse as last year. Ok, his jumping has always been rather stilted but he always seemed to have some energy to burn.

Let’s hope we see him return to some form soon.

    Apologies. He also added:

“My first reaction was that he needs to wait another year and come back as a chaser but having spoken with his owners we might give it a go as he’s got to run somewhere and I think he’ll be much better on good ground. He’s such a beautiful mover, he doesn’t even take his feet an inch off the ground and we clearly have a very exciting horse on our hands.”

For those of you on Santini did you the comment below from Henderson on his Unibet blog:

“Speaking of novices, I was extremely pleased with SANTINI at Cheltenham last Saturday and the further he went the better he went, so if we go back to Prestbury Park for the Festival it would have to be for the Albert Bartlett.”

It looks like we might just get to see him after all, which would be great.

I think Petit Mouchoir performed really well today. His first run back after some months out with an injury. His jumping was understandably rusty given the time off and is inexperience over fences. I wouldn’t be surprised if on better ground at Cheltenham and now with this run under his belt if Petit Mouchoir reversed the form with Footpad.

I was hoping his odds by lengthen in defeat but frustratingly they contracted. How does that happen?

I was on the Worlds End last year for the Albert Bartlett but I’m not sure he’s ready for open company. I think this will be won by one of the top 3 in the market. This race more so than any other lends itself to probability i.e. 1500 metre runners are more consistent winners than 100m runners (Bolt excluded) and Hurdles are less bothersome than fences. Hence the numerous multiple winners.

I’m still hoping L’Ami Serge for once finds something of the bridle.

With regards to Melon I only went on him because I found the odds of Buveur D’Air too prohibitive. With a gun held to my head I think Buveur D’Air will win convingly but I don’t get as much pleasure from a winning bet on a short priced favourite and to get a decent sum in return on Buveur D’Air you’d have to put a lot down.

Ar Mad is my only ‘heart’ bet. I just love this horse. He’s probably not quite good enough to win but I’ll enjoy watching him try.
