Where did you hear that, ham?
He was also two years younger. Look at the Betfair Chase and The King George; completely outpaced but then stayed on to pick up the crumbs
While you are correct to say Native River doesn’t need good ground; you can just see him getting outpaced running downhill before the turn. Can see horses like Frodon skipping away from him. Think Percy will be produced late enough also. Native River will stay though and I see there being a good battle on here between Kemboy, Frodon, Clan Des Obeaux, Bellshill, Al Boum Photo and Road to Respect and I can see them all going too early and running out of juice with Percy powering up the hill and Native River staying on to pick off a few of them for a place. I don’t think Native River has a prayer of winning unless it’s soft and while I think Percy will win, and while I have backed Percy last year and the year before at the festival, 3/1 is crap value and I wont be getting involved at that price; much rather have an each way play here. Bellshill at 10/1 each way NRNB is my first bet in the race; I will have another bet but not until the day.
It wasn’t ante-post, Ham. It was NRNB. They’ve been NRNB for the Championship races for a while now, inclding the without Altior market
Was Paddy Power; got it after the 4 Championship races went NRNB. Long gone now
I’ve backed evevry grade 1 now NRNB, a few antepost, but mostly NRNB. I’ve also backed the National Hunt Chase and Cross Country. Will leave the handicaps, the Foxhunters and the Mares Novice until closer the time.
As usual I have a bias towards Mullins/Elliot and my week rests with them; hopefully they can repeat last years heights
Supreme: Klassical Dream 7/1e/w NRNB, Tornado Flyer 25/1 e/w NRNB
Arkle: Cilaos Emery 5/1 NRNB
Champion Hurdle: Laurina 4/1 NRNB
Mares Hurdle: Benie Des Dieux 7/4 Ante Post
National Hunt Chase: Ballyward 4/1 Ante post
Ballymore: Carefully Selected 16/1e/w NRNB
RSA: Delta Work 7/2 NRNB
Champion Chase w/o Altior: Min 5/2 NRNB
Cross Country: Tiger Roll 5/2 Ante Post
Champion Bumper: Blue Sari 4/1 NRNB
JLT: Hardline 12/1 e/w NRNB
RyanAir: Footpad 5/1 NRNB
Stayers: Faugheen 9/1 e/w NRNB
Triumph: Tiger Tap Tap 11/1 e/w NRNB
Albert Bartlett: Dinons 16/1 e/w NRNB
Gold Cup: Bellshill 10/1 e/w NRNBMainly a Mullins bias for the graded races; will have more of an Elliot bias for the handicaps.
Benie Des Dieux not racing since Punchestown is not a problem at all. Mullins raps his good Mares in cotton whool. Annie Power rarely had more thna 1 run before going to the festival; Quvega usually debuted at the festival. Laurina is going to a Champion Hurdle with just 1 run under her belt. I expect Benie to get a prep urn into her soon and then hack up here with Apples and Laurina in the Champion Hurdle.
Klassical Dream – Supreme 8/1
Dinons – Albert Bartlett 20/1
Penhill – Stayers Hurdle 6/1Fancy Tiger Tap Tap to reverse form with Sir Erec but Coko Beach at 25/1 each way will do me assuming he runs
Nice spot. She definitely ticks the experience box and flat experience will help on the new course. She’s done 3 miles on good. Will keep an eye out for her on the weekend.
I thonlk Ruby will be on Bellshill, Townend on ABP and David Mullins on Kemboy (assuming he runs)
Nah Jack, last year was slightly different because the ground was heavy; Kilbricken Storm was having his 8th start when he won it last year but I’d call that a noutlier because teh ground was slow. This year you’d imagine normal service resumes and experience will be vital.
Dinons and Rockpoint at 25/1 & 20/1 respectively look like great each way shouts; they’ve both have 12 runs each under their belts including course and distance wins
Can we have a seperate Gold Cup thread; one where we focus on Elegant Escape and one where we talk about the rest of the contenders? This really is a farce of a thread
Mike007; 1 more prep will make no difference. Horses with less than 10 starts to their name tend not to win this race. Penhill, Martello Tower, UnowhatImeanharry all had an average of around 16 starts under their belt. It’s because it’s 3 miles on good quick ground. Inexperienced novices dont settle and go way too fast; expericeced horses always win this. Dickie Diver is 14/1; I’d give you 100/1.

Noble EndeavourGood race; Road to Respect the favourite; 3 Mullins horses priced up around 6/1 each (you’d imagine that will change when jockeys are declared). Outlander at 25/1 seems big; he finished well in with the crowd who followed Kemboy home at Xmas; he loves Leopardstown.
I’m gonna chance Al Boum Photo, I think; based on the Invitation Only form
I wouldn’t rate Dickie Divers chances of winning this at all. His only run so far has been over 2 mile 3f; this race is usually always won by an experienced horse.
Invitation Only winning yesterday is a big form boost for Al Boum Photo. Al Boum Photo gave Inviation Only 3 lbs and a 22L drubbing on his first run of the season; would like to see him take Bellshill on in the Irish Gold Cup.
