ROAD TO RESPECT 9/2
Was a bit unlucky last time out did stumble a few times on the flat he did and feel there every chance of him winning here
January 14, 2019 at 00:08 #1392445If he gets his ground Darren, which there must be a good chance of, then he must be a big player.
As usual though, I’ll focus on trying to find a bigger priced each way shot.
Edwulf – Such a hard horse to weigh up. Last years winner, who’s proximity to Tiger Roll in the 2017 National Hunt Chase, puts him in a very good light. He probably didn’t get the credit he deserved for winning this last year, due to the last fence fall of Kilultagh Vic, which is a shame, as the way he was powering home, he’d probably have won anyway. Not so clever since, but I think he’s had excuses. His absence from the entries for The Gold Cup, is a puzzle, which suggests maybe being Aintree bound. If that’s the case, then he won’t want to be winning this. He’s already on a high enough mark, and a win here would rule him out, as the weights won’t be framed for Aintree. I just wonder if he could be Cross Country bound? If that’s the case then he can easily take this en route. A big big ask of course, but not out of the question on a going day. 66’s
Kilultagh Vic – He’s been a complete wash out since his crunching last fence fall in this last year, including being beaten out of sight over the new year. However, and it’s a big however, Mullins appears to be persevering, and with several other potential candidates from the yard not entered, has he been geared to getting compensation in this, a year on from that spill. Well, on recent form, well no, he won’t. On past form though, he has a chance, and he’s as low as 12’s in places, which gets my attention. Holds a Gold Cup entry. 33’s
Minella Rocco – Always been given a good word by myself, though he has tested the patience in recent times. Hasn’t got his head in front since his win in the 2016 NH Chase, but he’s hardly been out much either. Still not the safest conveyance, and on his last run, he hit the deck in this, when beaten at the time. He also unseated in the 2017 renewal. A good chance he’ll head here, and despite the obvious question marks, I’d be very very interested, and on his best form, a very very nice price. He’s been a dangerous horse to follow Antepost, with numerous eleventh hour withdrawals, but I think he’s a proper dark horse here. 50’s
Monbeg Notorious – Seen as a soft ground plodder, but his run at the Punchestown Festival is worth a second look. I’ve never completely given up on him for Cheltenham, and great to see him get a Gold Cup entry. There has to be more to come, but it would be nice to see him out soon. 50’s
Noble Endeavour – Yes, he’s alwYs been just short of top class, but not that far off it. Was going the right way before his layoff, and his comeback in The Becher was highly encouraging. In the best of hands, and just the type to outrun his odds in this. 66’s
The Storyteller – Who knows the plan for this one? Either way, there will be a plan, and he’s clearly a “target” horse of Elliot’s. Working out the target is the hard part. Big fan of the horse, and on his Savills Chase run, he’s available at absurdly big odds. 66’s
Total Recall – Enjoyed a fantastic time of it last year, including a win at this meeting. Work to do, certainly on the Tramore run behind Al Boum Photo, but just they type to bounce back. As low as 10’s in places. 25’s
Tout Est Permis – His win in The Troytown looks to have been underrated, which is often the case with these big handicap winners, but I thought it was a very big run, and there’s surely tons more to come. Too big a price. 25’s
Those are the outsiders which jump out, but can’t bet em all. No play for now then, a definite “wait and see” job, and hope that the prices will hold.
Gun to my head, Edwulf for shock repeat, but definitely got time on my side here.
January 15, 2019 at 11:18 #1392569Road To Respect at 5-1 really does appeal, but so does Kemboy at 8-1.
I don’t know if those prices will stick, but I’m tempted to hold off.
January 16, 2019 at 11:50 #1392654I’m in the same boat as you Lemons. 5/1 looks like a fine price for Road To Respect here, and should have a lot in his favour. With his price it also looks like Kemboy has been underrated a little as well.
January 25, 2019 at 22:29 #1393664Decided to have a small early play on Edwulf and Noble Endeavour.
I wouldn’t be throwing the kitchen sink at them right now, as they can’t be 100% to trap here, certainly with my hunch that Edwulf might be one for The Cross Country, and Noble Endeavours obvious Aintree credentials, but at the prices, worth an early go.
Market principals are their on merit, and would be hard to suggest this pair could topple then, but there’s a good few in there who surely won’t be going either, and I’m more than happy to take a risk at 66’s.
Edwulf
Noble Endeavour
Both 66’s Each WayJanuary 25, 2019 at 23:52 #1393680Al Boum Photo 5-1 ew. Looks a horse on the up and form was franked in the Thyestes.
January 26, 2019 at 08:15 #1393712Yeah ABP for me aswell, hoping he progresses!
January 29, 2019 at 17:02 #1394161Kemboy
Bellshill
The Storyteller
Road to Respect
Al Boum Photo
Total Recall
Outlander
Balko Des Flos
Monalee
Edwulf
Anibale Fly
Noble EndeavourGood race; Road to Respect the favourite; 3 Mullins horses priced up around 6/1 each (you’d imagine that will change when jockeys are declared). Outlander at 25/1 seems big; he finished well in with the crowd who followed Kemboy home at Xmas; he loves Leopardstown.
I’m gonna chance Al Boum Photo, I think; based on the Invitation Only form
January 30, 2019 at 23:41 #1394353Vautour, I like that shout for Outlander, st his best he could sneak a place here. For the win though, I have decided to stick with Kemboy
January 31, 2019 at 22:54 #1394462I haven’t changed my mind here, and I’ll be disappointed if Road To Respect and Kemboy aren’t there at the business end.
February 1, 2019 at 12:35 #1394533No Kemboy.
Walsh has opted to ride Bellshill over Al Boum Photo.
February 1, 2019 at 22:08 #1394688I’ve backed Road to Respect for this and to win the Gold Cup at 28/1. Also backed Edwulf 50/1 EW. A big price for last years winner.
February 2, 2019 at 10:51 #1394787DBRDBR – i’d Like to follow you in on that bet. Who was offering it? I can’t find it on oddschecker.
February 2, 2019 at 11:22 #1394795@Battle Group
Betfair sportsbook and then the ‘specials’ section.
February 2, 2019 at 11:45 #1394802Many thanks
February 2, 2019 at 18:15 #1394906Monalee ew at 7/1 would be a confident selection here.
Record at Leopardstown is 1st and 2nd. Won the floggas chase on this card last year beating Al Boum Photo.
Has an unbeaten record in February.
Best form and win in 2018 came in February at this track in a Nov grade 1 on his 3rd start of the season.
Best form and win in 2017 was in a grade 3 hurdle on his 3rd start of season and in February.
Monalee has never lost a race in the month of February or on his 3rd run of a season.
He has already beaten Al Boum Photo, Edwulf, The Storyteller, Balko Des flos and Outlander this season at this track in the savills chase last time and can be confidently expected to be even better today on this 3rd run of season.
7/1 is far too big here and makes a very nice ew bet with 3 places. hard to see him not in top 3 and looks the likeliest winner.
Many rivals have an eye on grand national or other handicaps and wont get competitive in this race.
Al Boum is always a risk with his jumping but couldn’t see him beating Monalee on this track even with a decent round.
Bellshill and Road To Respect both appear to be there for the taking.
Sunday is the only day of the year you will ever hear me say the words MONALEE is a good thing here.
February 3, 2019 at 12:49 #1394979Disappointed that Edwulf is out, I was very keen.
Happy to have another go in the big one though, and I’ve sided with The Storyteller at 25’s. Always been a fan, and he might just surprise.
