There’s very little evidence to support any of your fervent claims, potato.
One thing to be in love with a horse but it’s another to disregard proven form and figures.
PP carried more weight today in a better, more competitive renewal
January 24, 2019 at 20:10 #1393508You can talk about form and figures all you like but the fact is PP doesnt have ANY chase form or figures outside of novice company.
ELEGANT ESCAPE has rock solid big boy form.
Quote that March 2018 form all you like when EE was a gangly 6yo racing against the year older and far more physically developed PP.
That’s history. EE is the better horse now simple as that.
January 24, 2019 at 20:26 #1393511Based on today presenting Percy is also a better horse. He won a more competitive renewal today carrying more weight and it was his first run of the season and still won it. Definitely a better performance that it was in this race last season. So not only does EE need to make up the ground that be was behind at Cheltenham he’s also got to surpass the amount PP is improving. Cannot see it
January 24, 2019 at 20:55 #1393515ELEGANT ESCAPE has rock solid big boy form.
EE has been admirably consistent in good open company thus season. Let’s see what he has beaten so far:
Gave 2 lb and a half length beating to Thomas Patrick.
Got 7lb from Dingo Dollar, who was having his first start in open company, and beat him comfortably.
Gave 7lb to Ramses de Teillee and beat him just over a length.
Decent handicappers all. Of course he can only beat what has been put in front of him and Tizzard has sensibly kept this big horse to safe ground with plenty of cut in it and not taken him off his feet as he learns. Saturday should tell us a bit more if he runs, as it’s a grade 2.
January 24, 2019 at 21:35 #1393517PP did well, but I’m not quite as keen on today’s form as many seem to be.
A lot of the opposition today were either questionable stayers or massively exposed types, I’m not sure it was a much better race than his win last year to be honest.
He won fresh against race fit horses so you have to give him that, and he could definitely improve again if the switch back to fences doesn’t bother him…but I think 11/4 is an absolutely barmy price!
January 24, 2019 at 21:59 #1393518I have to say Presenting Percy is clearly a very good horse but I have to agree with MoyenneCorniche that it is difficult to be that impressed with today’s performance. He didn’t beat much but it was signifcant given it was his seasonal debut.
Potato is right in that he, PP not Potato, has zero chase form in open company. His price is absurd.
January 24, 2019 at 22:04 #1393520As and aside, do we have many Racing Forum contributors planning to be at Cheltenham on Gold Cup day? Does the Racing Forum have any social gatherings?
January 24, 2019 at 23:08 #1393530Ill be there all 4 CNC ill be looking for a big potato on GC day
January 25, 2019 at 06:46 #1393547I KEEP BACKING BELLSHILL AT 20/1 EW NRNB.
Love the horse, goes on any ground, he has improved massively since his novice season when he ran in the RSA.
Will have another bullet closer to the day.
January 25, 2019 at 07:39 #1393550I like that atthepost. 90/1 has got me feeling a little jiggy but definitely topping up EW
January 25, 2019 at 07:41 #1393551Agree with you Atthepost.
Feel the same as I did when putting him up on this thread somewhere at 16s e/w NRNB.
He’s solid, improved and consistent. And we know he will stay strongly and goes on whatever ground.
January 25, 2019 at 07:44 #1393553Also that run in the RSA a few years back was very encouraging. Left with probably a little bit much to do. Be interesting to see who Ruby picks
January 25, 2019 at 08:16 #1393554Invitation Only winning yesterday is a big form boost for Al Boum Photo. Al Boum Photo gave Inviation Only 3 lbs and a 22L drubbing on his first run of the season; would like to see him take Bellshill on in the Irish Gold Cup.
January 25, 2019 at 09:36 #1393557+ perhaps Kemboy- he was the “chosen” one for the Hennessy over IO.
Interesting i didn’t see Joe’s quote on EE. Lacked a gear in Hennessy.
27Dec18 Chepstow (29.5Sft, RPR 163)Tom (O’Brien) gave Elegant Escape a cracking ride, he was always in the right place and the horse lacked a gear in the Hennessy, there’s no two ways about it, but that was a proper test of stamina, it’s lovely – Joe Tizzard, assistant trainer.
Personally, EE would need to improve a fair whack to get near PP over a fence IMO.
and the race he won was as good a 3mile hurdle as has been run anywhere in the UK or Ireland this season.
TWM- i couldn’t agree with that formwise, but RPR suggests it was equal to anything run in UK or IRE i think.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 26, 2019 at 14:38 #1393802Potato, as I said earlier to you in the thread. EE’s day in the sun will be a National if anything.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 26, 2019 at 14:46 #1393805Bang on jack. That’s probably where they will aim him. EE won’t be winning a GC that’s for sure
