On Yanworth and Petit Mouchoir each way at 12s and 25s
Just don;t think neither Annie Power or Faugheen will make it personally.
What makes you think that?
Annie didn’t debut until February last season when she won a Mares race followed by two blistering performances at Cheltenham and Aintree. No reason why she cant do that again. They haven’t ran her before Xmas since 2013.
Faugheen out for the year so I can see your point there. He’s due to appear at The Irish Champion Hurdle where he will take on Petit Mouchoir so we’ll know a bit more then, I suppose. If he was to miss that one then I would agree
Roger that, Big G. I had a small e/w bet on Augusta Kate when the prices came out at 8/1. I assume the swap in the market between Augusta Kate and Turcagua is down to Ruby choosing Augusta Kate? I have €10e/w on Augusta Kate for the Albert Bartlett at 14s; surely she’ll be fav for that if she can beat Death Duty? As you said it will be interesting to see if Turcagua can show any sign of improvement.
Slaney Hurdle in Naas on Sunday. Prices opened with Death Duty 4/9 Favourite. Turcagua was 3/1. Augusta Kate was 8/1 so I jumped on that e/w. Today Augusta Kate is 10/3 and Turcagua is 10/1. We know from previous form that Death Duty should be too good for Turacgua but it will be interesting to see what Augusta Kate can do. If she can win this you’d expect her to be favourite for the Albert Bartlett
Yeah, they probably wont; would be good to see it though
Cant have Dynaste, TAPK. He just looks like he couldn’t be bothered. Court by Surprise for me e/w at 16s.
Cheers, Big G. I asked Paddy Power to price Saturnas for the Neptune and its up there now at 20/1. Have thrown him into a few small accas.
based on what I’ve seen so far I like Our Duke
My thinking was that last years line up had some big names missing, plus AP winning last time out is the exception that proves the rule – that mares don’t win the CH.
Like I said, ignore me!
Worth noting that she won it in record time and the ground wasn’t as quick as it usually is.
NAP – Thistlecrack for the Gold Cup
Each Way – Djakadam for the Gold Cup without Thistlecrack @ 8/1
Lay – Altior for The Arkle at Evens
Can Augusta Kate compete with the boys, Big G? That’s the question. I think I’m getting too excited about Willie’s Mares. Apart from Airlie Beach they have only really beaten other Mares.
If Tarcagua can beat Death Duty then that run against Monalee can be struck off as a warm up and then I will think about opening my wallet. Will probably be too late by then.
What do you make of Saturnas, Big G?
Have the following horses to win any race at the festival:
Melon (12/1)
Bellshill (7/1)
Champagne Fever (16/1)
Killultagh Vic (10/1)
Think CF and KV are unlikely to appear at this stage but holding out hope that Melon turns out to be all that they said he was..
Arkle – Min (4/1)
Ryanair – Un De Sceaux (6/1)
JLT – American Tom e/w (10/1)
Mares Novice Hurdle – Asthuria (7 to 1)
Triumph – Bapaume (10 to 1)
Albert Bartlett – Penhill e/w (16/1)
; Augusta Kate e/w (14/1)
Gold Cup – Djakadam e/w at 14/1
; Don Poli e/w (33/1)
I also have a number of different doubles, trebles, 4-ways and 5-way accas all at small stakes/large odds
Death Duty 4/9; Turcagua 2nd favourite on 3/1 and the Augusta Kate and Asthuria are 8s and 12s respectively. We know Turcagua wont beat Death Duty because he couldn’t beat Monalee, who has also lost to Death Duty. For some reason I was hoping that the 4 Novice Mares (Asthuria, Airlie Beach, Augusta Kate and Lets Dance) would be good enough to mix it with the boys in the other Novice Hurdles. We already know that Airlie Beach is good enough to beat Saturnas and Penhill.
I’ll be disappointed if Turcagua is really better than Asthuria and Augusta Kate after they get their allowance. Ruby could choose one of the Mares and that could change the market. If they’re not good enough to take on Death Duty then you’d have to think they will all be going to Mares Novice Hurdle and that makes that harder to call… Have a good few 10 cent accas with Asthuria and Airlie Beach in them so I really hope that Lets Dance is good enough for The Neptune and Augusta Kate the Albert Bartlett but I guess we’ll know on Sunday..
The top two rated Mullins horses for The JLT go head to head on Sunday at Naas; Yorkhill (Wylie) and American Tom (Ricci). That will tell a lot. 1st v 3rd in The JLT market
Mullins has actually has 11 entries. Augusta Kate, kemboy, asthuria, Aussie reigns, penhill, saturnas, crack mome, turcagua, riven light, invitation only, let’s dance.
3 Mullins horses left in; Augusta Kate, Asthenia and Turcagua. Death Duty is in along with two other unbeaten Gigginstown horses; Bel Ami de Sivola and Blood Crazed Tiger. The SP’s should be interesting. Can’t see Turcagua getting past Death Duty, unless he has improved a lot over the last few weeks. Will be interesting to see where Willies Mares stand in this field. Death Duty will surely be favourite?
When is Nico be back?
Still no sign of Melon..
Saturnas looks like he will be geared towards the Neptune
