Charlie – I agree with you (and Ham). I would imagine whatever wins will slot in as second favourite behind PP. What a weekend of racing we have both at Leopardstown and Sandown. I can’t wait. I have a feeling ABP might perform well.
January 30, 2019 at 17:29 #1394295I thonlk Ruby will be on Bellshill, Townend on ABP and David Mullins on Kemboy (assuming he runs)
January 30, 2019 at 17:45 #1394299If Elegant Escape doesn’t win the gold cup, you’ll need to grab your jacket Potato…
Thanks but I’ve already eaten.
January 30, 2019 at 18:01 #1394303Moving on….to my favourite topic: Might Bite. Do you think Henderson will know from the gallops / training whether or not Might Bite’s problems have been overcome or can that only be tested sufficiently on the race track?
CNC, hard to know- by the sounds of things Nicky wasn’t certain why he was running so badly and the breathing op was done rather opportunistically rather than as a certain fix.
I would guess he won’t know if the time off + op have worked until he is put under 100% race pressure, but i don’t know enough about it!
On Sunday’s race, bloody hell it’s tough to bet on. I like them all as horses lol. R2R was my early fancy for this, but something might well improve past him.

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 30, 2019 at 19:51 #1394320Hopefully after this is over we can all have a drink of Peace Ale Gents and this can once again become A Place Genteel
January 30, 2019 at 20:42 #1394330I’m missing Potato already. Please come back and join in.
Potato – I have to ask: if you couldn’t bet on EE for the Gold Cup which horse would you bet on and why?
January 30, 2019 at 20:56 #1394332It’s ok CNC, he hasn’t been barred, he’s still here, and more than welcome to post.
There was nothing worth a ban here in my opinion, and I’m not “Admin”, so can’t ban anyone even if I wanted to.
It was quite clear though that the thread was becoming a farce. I’ll continue to keep an eye on it.
I haven’t edited it yet, the process takes longer than you think, and I’ll deal with it.
January 30, 2019 at 20:57 #1394333Nathan, I’ll see what I can do, but I’m busy editing some of my own threads lol
January 30, 2019 at 23:16 #1394349Potato – I have to ask: if you couldn’t bet on EE for the Gold Cup which horse would you bet on and why?
Obviously this is fantasy land as I would never cheat on EE and back another horse however it is an interesting question.
Presenting Percy – Is a potential winner though abysmal value and has to be taken on.
Native River – I think he will be in the top 4 but this is his 3rd gold cup, 1 gold cup is enough to end many horses so hats off to Colin for getting him.to run in his 3rd gold cup. Something will chin him though with younger fresher legs. That was one hell of a battle with Might bite last year. Couldn’t back him to win though very possible he can place. No value here though imo.
Clan Des Obeaux – Better on a flat track and has a tendency to jump right. May well win back to back king George’s but I couldn’t have him here.
Kemboy- Probably will stay though not guaranteed. Main concern for me is that he has been unplaced in 2 cheltenham runs and he found nothing up the hill. Possibly better on a flat track. A classy improving horse but I couldn’t have him in this race. May well win the Irish gold cup wont win this one.
Thistlecrack- A very unlikely winner aged 11. May still run a decent race though but I cant see him winning.
Al Boum Photo – I think he will go Ryanair but if he does go here then that will be a mistake as I dont think he will stay the trip at gold cup pace.
Might Bite – I’m not expecting him to turn up. If he does then pulled up looks likeliest outcome.
Frodon – Wont get home in this race. Pace will be too fast, wont be allowed to dominate and it would be a shock if he could place.
Sizing John – Dont think he will show up, his time has passed even if he does.
Shattered Love – I couldn’t imagine backing a mare for the gold cup. She would need to he absolutely phenomenal to win. She isnt.
Definitely Red- 10yo now and probably best form has come in small fields on flat tracks. Has won at cheltenham but well beaten in gold cup last year and unlikely to better that as a 10yo.
Bellshill – Unplaced in 2 cheltenham races and 3rd in might bites rsa. Though only 6 finished in that race with 6 not completing. Was 10 lengths behind whisper and might bite and was never going to be winning. A good horse but not a cheltenham horse. A 3rd season chaser with all wins at right handed tracks though does have form going left handed. Not for me though.
Probably only left with ROAD TO RESPECT so by default will have to pick that one though I dont overly fancy it, it could go well though.
Thankfully this isnt fantasy world and I am all about THE LEGEND ELEGANT ESCAPE and I wouldn’t swap him for the world.
January 31, 2019 at 11:25 #1394383MY SECOND BULLET
IS AL BOUM PHOTO 14s ew with bet365
BELLSHILL- NAP
AL BOUM PHOTO- NBWon’t be surprised If Percy hacks up at 3/1. Love the horse but there are better 3/1 shots out there
Good luck all
January 31, 2019 at 14:05 #1394398Parted with a few £ on al boum potato for this again at 18s+
Very good ham if this was meant. If not it looks like you’ve got potato on the brain
January 31, 2019 at 17:51 #1394413I do hope it was by mistake. That is very funny. It made me laugh out loud.
January 31, 2019 at 19:00 #1394416You’d expect him to have a tip for the Albert Bartlett, wouldn’t you ?
January 31, 2019 at 19:06 #1394418More and more confident in a big run from Road To Respect on better ground
Think he goes 5/1 second favourite on Sunday lads
January 31, 2019 at 19:20 #1394421MOM, wouldn’t it be a slight worry that it won’t actually be good ground? Whilst its good now- course has said rain + sleet today, with a frost its possible it could be that awful gluey stuff?
Love the horse, i think i put him up here early as my fancy, but starting to wonder whether something will improve past him.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 1, 2019 at 04:30 #1394492Ruby Walsh on PP…
“I was impressed with Presenting Percy‘s win on the Gowran Park card in the Galmoy Hurdle.
And while there’s been some talk that it’s a worry that Presenting Percy could be running in open company for the first time in a Gold Cup – that wouldn’t concern me.
An ordinary jumper needs experience, but Presenting Percy looks a very professional racehorse to me. He’s very straight forward and only does what he has to do.
I was second to Coneygree on Djakadam in the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup and he had only three runs in novice chases, he ran down-the-field in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury, before winning the Thyestes Chase.
Presenting Percy has had five runs over fences and is a RSA Chase winner. In a perfect world, he’d have probably had three runs by now but we’re not living in a perfect world. I don’t know what Pat Kelly’s training regime is but if he gets another run under his belt, so be it. He ran in the Red Mills Chase last year and might do the same again.
It wouldn’t worry me if we didn’t see Pat Kelly’s star again until the blue riband on the final day of the Festival.
Presenting Percy will only do whatever Pat Kelly wants him to do.
And whatever he does he’ll be very hard to beat in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.”
