I’m speaking from recent experience at the Curragh.Alot of the layers had someone on a laptop behind them on their pitch.Got a quick peek at most of the screens and they were invariably looking at betfair markets, hardly just out of curiousity.
Go for it. Rather you than me though, climb the stairs here at home is about all I can manage.
There we’re a few people on T.V yesterday morning who were running in it. From what I can gather there’s a website dedicated to participants running for sponsorship.
4th over 5 miles in a cross country.Did many winners come out of the race? Do you think you’ll handle the step up in trip and class? How will you handle the ground?( I predict it could be quite firm on the roads of London). We’ll give you a prep run a month or so before hand.As long as we insure not to get caught schooling in public. We could land a monster gamble.
Could someone who knows more about the NH programme than I clarify this for me.
Correct me if I’m wrong,a horse can remain a novice for 2 seasons once still a maiden at the end of his first.Applying to both hurdles and chases.
Eligable to run in novice races which he meets the conditions. There aren’t any specific races for 2nd season novices, to my knowledge, can’t recall seeing ones specifically for first season novices either.

Great result for Murphy.
With NDS still being a maiden over fences will he be a novice next season? I note that he had three turns over fences in France at 4yo.Does that prevent him being a second seaon novice?
If not, then it wasn’t just a great result for the trainer, it was the perfect result! ;)
:o
Oh my I smell blood.
sporting sam,
hope you did the forecast.
Having such a good day myself I’m almost getting worried.
Things are going so well considering I couldn’t back a winner for about 2 months. I reckon I’m a good thing to take out the Jackpot in the Irish nat Lottery tonight.
Get In.
Insomniac,
I’m not saying that the English should apologise for something that happened 160 years ago.
Our own government, both past and present, should hang their heads in shame for not creating a SIGNIFICANT day of rememberance.
I take your point about the ‘badge of suffering’ but feel that remembering as a mark of respect and not out of self pity is justified.
Also the fact it wasn’t racial doesn’t excuse not intervening, and some what, even compounding the disaster. There were some disgraceful acts during the famine. People( many were irish upper and middle classes) used the opportunity to get rich, similar to those unscrupolous scumbags who did the same during the holocaust. The Catholic church, who have held a very powerful position in this country to such extent that they were asked to approve our constitution, stood back and did little. Then again that seems to be their FORM as they showed with how they handle the problems caused by their paedophile priests.
Of course you’re spot on in pointing out how English people of the poorer classes were also suffering at the time. Even in the richest countries there is poverty.
Look at the ‘Leaders of the Free World’, those at the front line in their War for OIL in Iraq are mostly from the poorest areas of the U.S. and will be those who will benifit the least from the ill gotten gains.
Of course it’s easy to criticise the actions or lack of action by those in the history books. Many of us are guilty of doing little for the poor and hungry around the planet.
I make monthly contributions to a couple of charities which combined are but a tiny fraction of the amount I gamble weekly.
I’ll leave it at that because I’m getting saddle sore on my high horse.
Heffo.
Sesmen is a horse I followed last season after her maiden win and did very well out of her too so would like to see her win today.I think her Trainer Marco Botti looks to have a good future ahead of him and it could pay to follow him while he is still a relative unknown on the U.K racing sceen.
This race is very tricky imo and I did intend just watching but one of the runners made it into my notebook last season as one to watch/follow for this year and a ‘certain’ winner of a maiden.
I’m dissapointed that she,Cartimandua, is having her first run of the season at this level and not in a competitive maiden.
She caught my eye in a 6f Newmarket maiden last July.
Under pressure she stuck on for second. Jimmy Fortune wasn’t too hard on her, just pushing her out and not using the whip.
I don’t have a very good knowledge of the form book but I note that the filly behind her in fifth went on to be a 5l second to 1,000 guineas favourite Finsceal Beo in the G1 prix marcel boussac, although has since dissapointed in Dubai.
I do not think Cartimandua is a super star or anything like. In saying that it’s unlikely that any of the field are super stars. I have had some success with my ‘eye catchers’ and although it is best advised to just watch her today I at least want to flag her up as a future maiden winner, obviously presuming that she has had the natural improvement over the winter one would expect from 2-3.
I don’t know enough about Ed MacMahon to comment on wheter he often ’tilts at windmills’ but I do feel the 50/1 available is at least fair and have thus had a massive €5 e/w on her.
No doubt she’ll run badly. I’ll look very foolish. Then deservingly get ridiculed by the patrons of this web site.
But hey, you don’t have to get many 50/1 shots up to make a profit do you, lol.
Only just realised that the horse that finished in 5th behind her on her debut is also running and is trading at 16/1.
Cartimandua travelled reasonable well for alot of the way but appeared to become a bit unbalanced and was eased down considerably when her chance had gone. Only beat 2 home.I still think she’ll win her maiden.

I thought so but wasn’t sure. Said I’d clarify just in case.
A regular criticism by darts fans of Waddell, which I whole heartedly agree with,is his insistance on over complicating a simple sport.
"Under dipper dart"?"Reverse stacking"? etc. I think maybe he is trying his hardest to be seen as THE most knowledgable pundit in darts.
