Plenty of partakers in this thread but no more than nine Horses put up and the first three all featured not for the first time. Hats off to Friggo for posting it up.
A healthy profit on the one race all day that I played in.
Backed Another Rum, Hot Weld and Nine De Sivola all to win and was willing Hot Weld to come back and win what a great front running ride by the youngster.
I also did a small combination (tricast) would have been nice if it was a forecast!!!!
I did get a bit excited for a little while but to Me Another Rum was in the wrong place at the wrong time all the time, prominent, but never likely to hold that position.
Very enjoyable when two horses are battling it out and you are on them both but 14/1 is nicer than 5/1.
Yep I missed the bigger prices….
A stable one-two is a great feat
Just one question, Graham Lee did you have choice of the mounts?
April 21, 2007 at 21:04 #53491A bit harsh on Graham Lee there sporting sam. I actually thought he gave Nine de Sivola a great ride bringing him to challenge just when you wanted it. Just got outbattled after the last IMO.
Well done Ferdy Murphy.
April 22, 2007 at 01:12 #53492A bit gutted actually. Looking at the form, there was little to no value in Hot Weld at 14s, his form has been very moderate as of late. Also, when you back 2nd and 3rd in a 24 runner handicap, you’re quite right to feel a bit PO’d!
All I’ll say is that Nine De Sivola will cash in one day and win a big handicap; when that day shall come is a bit more dubious however!
April 22, 2007 at 10:38 #53494Great result for Murphy.
With NDS still being a maiden over fences will he be a novice next season? I note that he had three turns over fences in France at 4yo.Does that prevent him being a second seaon novice?
If not, then it wasn’t just a great result for the trainer, it was the perfect result! ;)
April 22, 2007 at 10:55 #53495He’d be a third season novice but to the best of my knowledge there are no races restricted to second season novices
April 22, 2007 at 11:02 #53497I don’t know, heffo, I don’t think NDS’s racing next season lies in novice company personally, apart from perhaps the NH trophy. He’ll be geared at the GN probably, as he only needs to improve 10lbs or so to get in, and yesterday’s performance will cover some of that.
I think he’ll be a credit to the staying handicap chases next year, as he’s not lightly raced. We should hopefully see him out a fair bit.
April 22, 2007 at 12:21 #53498Could someone who knows more about the NH programme than I clarify this for me.
Correct me if I’m wrong,a horse can remain a novice for 2 seasons once still a maiden at the end of his first.Applying to both hurdles and chases.
Eligable to run in novice races which he meets the conditions. There aren’t any specific races for 2nd season novices, to my knowledge, can’t recall seeing ones specifically for first season novices either.
April 22, 2007 at 20:00 #53499That was a terrific race (well done heffo for your selection). Just so exciting seeing Hot Weld come back as he did.
April 23, 2007 at 10:33 #53501There are no time restrictions on a novice. Nine De Sivola will return a novice for next season, having not won a steeple chase before end of April this year.
The programme book makes no provision for first/second season novices.

I agree Davidbrady G.Lee did the best he could in the circumstances.
Ferdy Murphy`s comments post race are interesting.
Seems the trainer did best by the Horse regarding weights and riding arrangements….
"I am delighted for the young lad (McDonald), but in my heart of hearts I always like the stable jockey to ride the winner if at all possible," admitted Murphy.
"It is nice to win the race again. I said to the horse’s owner that we had the perfect horse for the race, but that we had been messed about in the winter.
"As he takes a lot of getting ready, I thought the race was coming two weeks too soon.
"Nine De Sivola was also second in the Irish National so he deserves to win a big one, but I suppose from now on we are going to have to look for conditions races for him."
