Great to hear Mighty Man should live but that was a real ‘cringe moment’ watching Johnson trying to get him to the other side of the hurdle, being unable to pull him up before it.
Did anyone else notice how Nena Carberry punched the air before she even passed the line for second place in the La Touche Cup. I’m sure that this was in celebration of Spot the Difference’s triumph. Looked that way anyways.

Maybe it’s just me, I don’t claim to be an expert on football but how in God’s name has Zenden stayed on the field for 90mins tonight.
I don’t even understand why Liverpool ever signed him.
Barcelona must have felt silly enough having bought the player and given him a big salary. He ended up at Middlesborough and I reckon that’s about his level.
He had more of the ball in advanced positions tonight than any other Liverpool player, yet his contribution was bland at best.
Do any of ye think he was deserving of playing the full game?
I’d forgoten he’d played for Chelsea too.Maybe he felt he owed them something……

In Ireland, where the intrest is concentrated mainly on NH racing, many of you may be under the impression that due to the very big fields, particuarly in handicap hurdles, that it’s not too difficult for your horse to get a run. The opposite is actually true.
A huge amount of horses are entered for most low to middle standard handicap races.Horses then are subject to the balloting system, making it almost impossible to determine when your horse will get into a race. With our climate as variable as it is, it can turn into a complete lottery as regards trying to get the ground conditions most suitable to your horse. I’ve been involved, through syndication, with two horses and have found this side of it very very frustrating. The last horse I was envolved with has suffered an injury, only this month and the cost of treatment, which would only give a chance that he may race again, far outways his value. He will spend the rest of his days in a riding school, pending some treatment paid for by our syndicate.
Now, very disillusioned with ownership, I’ve decided to call it a day with ownership, for the meantime. I know of many people with similar stories, whom most will never own a horse again. Their biggest grieviance, like my own, is not being able to get a run into their horse.
So wether it is more horses than available races or reduced field sizes that causes balloting,it can only be a case of the governing bodies of the sport shooting themselves in the foot.
With out owners there is no sport!!!!!!!

The more I think about this horse and his season in front of him, the more my spine tingles. I really hope he lives up to all expectations this season. Did any of you see the interviews with J Bolger on ATR and RUK today? It all helps add to the anticipation.
Racing as much as any other sport needs it’s superstars and I hope this horse is the real deal. One thing that really stands out in my mind is that he doesn’t have to have things his own way to win a race. Infact things have gone against him and he has still won, surely a sign of a true champion. Alot has been made of Holy Roman Emperor failing to get a clear run in The Dewhurst, I’m not contradicting this. But if you look at the race again, Telofilo fell out of the stalls and K Manning had to use more petrol early on, than he would have liked, to get him into position. Maybe this was why he idled so apparently that day. What ever way you look at it, an observer could only be impressed by the way he immediately fought back and stuck his neck out to win.
The "hiccup" last week, as Bolger called it, is worrying. I’m of the opinion that they wouldn’t go to Newmarket if it was going to jeopardise the rest of his season.
The talk of a ‘Triple Crown’ makes the pulse quicken. Although it’s hard not to agree that the St. Ledger doesn’t hold the prestige it once did, if Jim Bolger’s charge is lining up to take his chance, attempting the third leg of a Triple Crown, the eyes of the racing world would, surely, all be focused on Doncaster.
Of course the possibilty of a crashing anti climax on May the fifth has more than just crossed my mind. I imagine I’ll cry myself to sleep, wondering how I’m going to recoup the considerable losses. One of the great characteristics of this sport is that the great races decide and more often than not there can be little argument in the aftermath. If any of the members of the forum are lucky enough to be present at Newmarket on 2,000 Guineas day, I’d encourage you to get down to the parade ring prior to the big race and get as close to Teofilo as one can, while he’s being led around. He has a sort of presence about him that will impress you.
You may by now have noticed that I just can’t wait for May the fifth. I’m starting to think I’ll have a nervous break down in the days leading up to it.
Anyway pardon my alcohol induced waffle, hope you didn’t spend to much time reading it and come on "The Monster".

He has to be Flash. I’m the self appointed chairman of the Brave Inca fan club but even I can’t see him beating Mighty Man. There doesn’t seem to be much else you could give a strong case for.
I’m always wary of hot favs that are hold up horses in these types of races.I think the fact that MM likes to race prominently, so not TOO dependant on something to make the pace is a big help to him.
Can anyone give any pointers to the first 2 legs of the Place Pot for me. I’m lost.

LOL….The bloody cheek of you Reet Hard. :o
I USED to be a fan of Kingscliff, was sitting on a lovely ante post ticket when he was fav for the gold cup and got pulled out a few days beforehand. Despite todays performance I wouldn’t thrust him. Too many days when he just doesn’t want to know.

The triple crown for sure. Immortality.
Be great for the sport too. The media would surely pick up on it, similar to the way the yanks sit up when one is on for it over there.

Hear hear to Boyce or Ennis.
Chapman’s presenting style would be more suited to the QVC channel than a racing channel.
No doubt he’ll ruin Royal Ascot. Not much of a choice between races. You can watch the fashion on BBC or listen to Chapman on ATR.

I’m a member of the 3 kildare tracks, punch curragh and naas, can’t make it today. Tooth out this morning and a hospital appointment in the afternoon. I did get word for one in the 5.15. Giant Eagle, apparently he’s been aimed at this race all season. Connections expect a good run and are very hopeful of a place. 14/1 earlier he’s now 12s with Paddy Powers and 10s with Boyles. Tips from this guy are rare but good.

Was at Punchestown today.Very worrying to see those blue screens up around Aces Four.He was walked back past the stand after he recovered. I was at the rail and someone asked Ferdy Murphy if he was ok. He said the horse was fine just very shook after the fall. AF did look a pitiful site, head bowed and really feeling sorry for himself.Know how he feels I’d backed him myself.
Great that he lives to fight another day.
