Don’t worry Chris, Salselon is just having a moan. Maybe he has lost a load of cash as well. :o ;)
April 26, 2007 at 16:11 #54477Iv been told to get on Jered in the last, anyone know much about it?
April 26, 2007 at 16:11 #54478Nope, no-one has done anything wrong. And, no I certainly haven’t lost any cash. Decided not to back anything this week as all my interest now lies slowly with the flat.
The point I made is looking through the whole thread, and recent threads here, is that the quality of the responses has dipped quite considerably. No one person should take offence – it’s something i’ve noticed over the past couple of weeks..

Nah, quality always drops when you get into the flat season. :) Only so much hyping you can do.

April 26, 2007 at 16:52 #54481The bookies seem to have been coining it in at Punchestown this week, I’m the same as Sir Harry and I’d had a feeling since this morning that Refinement would place at least – thought nothing of having a bet in it though as I imagined it to be backed and go off at 8s 9/1 at most, I spat out my tea when I’d noticed it had come in at 16/1 – why do I never have my afternoon in the bookies’ at the right time!
Then again on the same line I wouldn’t have backed STD (fnarr fnarr) with someone elses’ money at whatever the price so that just went to show how strange the form and results have worked out this week..
April 26, 2007 at 16:52 #54482It seems that Mighty Man’s injury isn’t life threatening so that is very good news. His racing career though hangs in the balance according to ATR.
April 26, 2007 at 17:44 #54483Great to hear Mighty Man should live but that was a real ‘cringe moment’ watching Johnson trying to get him to the other side of the hurdle, being unable to pull him up before it.
Did anyone else notice how Nena Carberry punched the air before she even passed the line for second place in the La Touche Cup. I’m sure that this was in celebration of Spot the Difference’s triumph. Looked that way anyways.
April 26, 2007 at 20:43 #54484
He’s no favourite of mine but it’s such a shame that this has happened to Mighty Man.
Great news that it’s not life-threatening but he could have acheived so much more over the next few years, possibly even over fences at some stage.
As it is now, there must only be a 5% chance at the very most that we’ll see him on track again and almost no chance that he’ll retain all of his ability.
I’ve seen the replay a couple of times and at first I thought that the injury may have happened when Essex clipped heels with him as MM went really wide immediately after that. However, it’s a foreleg injury so that looks unfounded.
I lumped on both MM & BI on BF and would have won a decent amount either way so I’m just stunned that neither of them won.
April 26, 2007 at 20:52 #54485
And what about Moscow Flyer tomorrow!
Runs in the charity race @ 6.25 with the delightful Kate Harrington on board and is a 6-4 shot on the Sporting Life tissue!
Wouldn’t it be great if he could raise the roof one more time…
April 26, 2007 at 21:21 #54486hi guys, thanks reet hard for the welcome . great to see spot the difference win again today, and totally ecstatic to see another promise win, have been following this horse for a while. ferdy murphy has his string in excellent shape, and graham lee seems to have a new lease of life after what was a difficult year last year. willie mullins has been dissapointing at the festival so far , but theres always tomorrow.
April 27, 2007 at 04:42 #54487It’s fantastic for me to have a couple of days off work to enjoy all this (apart from the break downs obviously). I worlk nearly full time now and I’ve missed out on so much.
It’s gonna be a long summer without all these great horses……..:(
April 27, 2007 at 06:53 #54488In the Bewley’s Hotel Bumper @5-50 I feel that its hard to look beyond the chance of the likely jolly Conor’s Secret. There is very little betting at the moment ( its 4.5 which is 7/2 less comm betfair).
I feel unless something else in the race shows a remarkable turn around in form that connections will finally get a belated win.
This horse went off second fav for this race last year and got very badly hampered when starting to move into a challenging position.
The best piece of form was when it ran against Bluebyyou. Hogans horse beat it 3/4 of a lenght but Bluebyyou was recording a third bumper win that day.
If Conor’s Secret runs to that level today it will be hard to beat and connections have been targeting this race again. Jockey is J.P. O’Farrell who normally rides it.
Of the likely opposition Sheill Dara has been dissapointing having been sent off favourite a few times without looking likely ever to justify the market support.
This will be just my second bet @ the festival.
April 27, 2007 at 10:09 #54489Shame on the scumbags in the crowd that cheered as Mighty Man was pulled up.
April 27, 2007 at 13:20 #54490Aitmatov or Glencove Marina.
The latter is crying out for a trip and the former will prove to be a better horse when the ground is good.
