Had an 8lb allowance as well which he wouldn’t have in the Arkle. Still a good performance from a 4 year old and another boost to last season’s Juvenile form.
Doubt he’ll run Sharjah in the Morgiana. He realy likes good ground.
Agree on Andy Dufresne; very impressive. Think he’s a Ballymore horse though. You need to have a lot of experience to win the Albert Bartlett. Last two years was different because there was soft ground but in general the ground is usually quick enough on the Friday of Cheltenham and young inexperienced novices tend to cut their throats by going too fast. I’d be looking at horses with at least 10 career starts for this race.
Melon and Fakir D’Oudaries both declared for Navan on Sunday. Melon conceding 8 lbs as Fakir is a 4 year old.
Blue Sari, Blackbow, D’Lauro and Andy Dufresne are all entered in Ireland this weekend.
Would you not be concerned that Delta Work has let the form down? He was properly spanked there by the Road to Respect and Clan Des Obeaux.
I think 20/1 is too big for Envoi Allen for this. Everyone seems to think he’ll run in the Ballymore but he had plenty pf speed on Saturday. Andy Dufresne is by Doyen so he’s probably more of a Ballymore horse. Anyway, the market certainly thinks Envoi Allen is going to the Ballymore but he was very good on Saturday over 2 miles.
Solid start over fences for Samcro. Jumped slightly to the right at times but there wasn’t much pace on. Think they’ll be happy enough with that.
Baffling how Davy isn’t getting a look in with Kennedy out. You think you’d be treated better when you win back to back Grand Nationals.
It’s just worth noting that Malone Road is currently 8/1 for the Supreme; he had 2 Bumper runs last year where he beat horses that have gone on to be bang average. The form of his Bumper wins are sketchy; although he was visually impressive in them. The fact he was injured as well is a turn off. Andy Dufresne had 1 Bumpoer run last season beating Golden Spread who is a similar yard stick to Mt Leinster. He’s highly thought of also.
I think Malone Road really stood out when he spanked Mt Leinster that time but Mt Leinster went on to be disappointing. Malone Road does look like he will be good but I dont think the Mt Leinster form is as good as it looked at the time.
That is some excellent advice there re Bet 365. Having the cash out option is great if you are having an early season punt ante-post; takes a lot of the risk out of it. I’ve just done Laurina each way for the Arkle at 14/1. She should have the pace and if she’s as good a jumper as they say she is then 2 miles shouldn’t be a problem.
The JLT trip shouldn’t be a problem for her either. It might depend on how Melon takes to the larger obstacles. Melon seems to run his best races when there is a strong pace set and he’d be guaranteed that in The Arkle. If Melon turns into a quality 2 Mile Chaser then Laurina may go to the JLT. She’s 12/1 for the JLT with Bet 365 so maybe doing her for both is the thing to do and then cash in when it becomes clearer.Worth pointing out that Mullins has dominated the Arkle winning 4 of the last 5 renewals with Un De Sceaux, Douvan, Footpad & Duc Des Genievres; Altior the only other horse to win it in the last 5 years.

Presenting Percy – Gold Cup – 20/1Yep, his owners are under investigation for over-selling his ownership shares. I wonder how long that will talk to sort itself out
Something tells me Mullins will find a reason not to run Kemboy. It’s very rare you ever see a top Open company Chaser from Mullins yard out before December. Would love to be wrong and would be great to see Delta Work, Clan Des Obeaux & Kemboy go at it early on in the season. Delta Work is probably the safest bet as he’ll definitely turn up and Good ground puts Road to Respect in the frame.
